Posted March 5, 20169 yr comment_5731103 At Smarkschoice, we had a no spoiler policy about revealing our exact placement of someone or posting our full ballots until after the countdown was complete. This kept the anticipation high and also aimed to reduce overly strategic or reactive balloting. I don't know that we need to go that far, but I do think at least refraining from revealing our rankings publicly until after the deadline is a good rule of thumb. Thoughts on that? EDIT: I just read the March Madness thread and think it's even more important to be spoiler free if people are betting on outcomes. EDIT 2: I misread that post and thought it was $10 a head to get in with the winner getting the pot. I was about to lay the hammer down on that happening here, but since that's not the case, it's fine.
March 5, 20169 yr comment_5731112 Nope. No betting. Just some dumb guy putting up a small pot to encourage participation I agree on keeping ballots to ourselves until after voting. Not because of my silly pool. But I can see being influenced by other people's ballots while trying to finalize my own.
March 8, 20169 yr comment_5732299 We have to be careful because we already have posts like "Who is in your Top Ten?" and "Who are you Leaving off?" I won't post my ballot if people are adamant that we keep it a secret but I don't oppose people posting their ballots either.
March 8, 20169 yr comment_5732316 We've talked about this with Loss already, but at some point in the next week, we'll be running down our own top 100s on WTBBP in audio form, however the printed versions will not be revealed. One reason for this is we get a wide listenership outside of PWO who might be encouraged to put a ballot together after listening.
