Tully vs Dusty

 

Tully is just feeding Dusty early. Dusty being Dusty. He works Tully's leg. Flair on commentary. Tully is selling the ankle big as we go to commercial. Dusty just working over the leg. Tully is great at putting over the leg work. The heels finally turn the tide and attack Dusty's ankle. The psychology is really great here. The crowd is totally into this. This was great and an easy nomination.

This starts with Jimmy Valiant singing to Paul Jones telling him to come get him.

Magnum TA vs. Golden Terror (3/10/86)

Magnum wins in seconds.

Next we get a taped promo from the Koloffs saying they won't wrestle Magnum on TV until they get the contract they want. Ivan then said that he would boycott TV next.

Magnum then cuts a promo afterwards saying the Koloffs shouldn't worry about money but the title. Magnum said that he would only wrestle on his terms.

Thunderfoot (Joel Deaton) vs. Rocky King (3/10/86)

Quick win for Thunderfoot with a shoulder breaker after a spurt by Rocky.

Arn is out next for a promo whining about the fans chanting for Dusty and he said that the Horsemen have take everything from Dusty but Baby Doll so they are going to beat on him for fun now.

"Boogie Woogie Man" Jimmy Valiant vs. George South (3/10/86)

Easy win for Valiant.

Next we get promos from Tully, Dillon, Cornette, & Flair for the 4/4 show in Roanoke.

The Midnight Express ("Loverboy" Dennis Condrey & "Beautiful" Bobby Eaton) vs. Gene Ligon & Mike Simani (3/10/86)

Very easy win for the MX.

Garvin & Precious are out next for another promo on Wahoo where Garvin makes fun of him heavily.

Cornette & MX are out next for a promo ripping on The Road Warriors and the other tag teams.

National Heavyweight Title: "American Dream" Dusty Rhodes © vs. Tully Blanchard (3/4/86)

Ric Flair is on commentary here which is a nice touch and he isn't full on heel as yeah he favors Tully but he is an analyst too. Dusty is dominant early and Tully does a great job of selling and bumping for him with the crowd going nuts for everything. Dillon is great trying to help Tully at ringside by massaging his leg and whatnot. Tully would take advantage of a mistake by Dusty and immediately started working over Dusty's bad ankle which was sound psychology. Tully got the Figure-Four on Dusty and the crowd was apeshit for Dusty here as he reversed it and got out but was still limping bad although he was firing away with some offense. Dusty tried to slam Tully but his leg gave way so Tully was able to go back on offense even hitting the Slingshot Suplex but Dusty kicked out. Dusty made yet another comeback locking on the Sleeper Hold on Tully then Dillon who pulled something out of his pocket and dropped it in the ring. Tully picked it up and tried to hit Dusty but he was backdropped over the top rope to the floor. Flair then got up and put the object on Tully's hand who would hit Dusty with it as he was being brought back into the ring with Tully winning the title. This was eerily similar to Savage hitting Santana with the knux a couple of weeks earlier for the IC Title. Baby Doll then got attacked after the match by the Horsemen until the babyfaces cleared the ring. A helluva match and a wild angle afterwards also with a Tully gloating promo makes this whole thing a very easy nomination.

Then we get promos from RnR & Magnum for the 4/4 show in Roanoke.

Tully Blanchard vs. Mark Fleming (3/18/86)

Tully gets the Slingshot Suplex and wins in seconds.

The Barbarian vs. Rocky Kernodle (3/18/86)

Total squash.

The RnR Express are with David next for a promo and the female fans in Mooresville, North Carolina go wild yelling for them. Quite a pop here as the RnR talked about the MX and the upcoming Crockett Cup. Morton also talks about Ric Flair putting down the RnR and their fans every week and Morton wants Flair to talk to him face to face.

"Ragin Bull" Manny Fernandez vs. Mike Simani (3/18/86)

Manny toys with Simani a bit before putting him away. Bull then cuts a promo with David afterwards saying that no one will get Valiant without going through him.

Next we get promos from Bart, Tully, & Cornette for the 4/4 show in Roanoke.

Then we get the Crockett Cup press conference from New Orleans.

Tully & Dillon are out next saying that Dusty won't get any rematches for the National Title and that he has to work his way back up to get a shot at Arn's TV Title as well.

"Gorgeous" Jimmy Garvin vs. Tony Zane (3/18/86)

Garvin wins with a crappy Brainbuster because he pretty much lost Zane in the air.

Sam Houston is with David next for a promo talking about losing his Mid-Atlantic Title to Black Bart and we get clips of the title change. Houston said that he will get his belt back.

Black Bart vs. Italian Stallion (3/18/86)

Bart just roughhouses Stallion here as the fans chant loud for Sam to come out. Stallion gives Bart a fight though and this is a competitive match but Bart comes out on top at the end.

Next we get promos from Houston & RnR for the 4/4 show in Roanoke.

Garvin & Precious are back out for a promo still looking for Wahoo and we get the video for Wahoo from Florida.

"Hands of Stone" Ronnie Garvin vs. Ron Rossi (3/18/86)

Garvin KOed him in 5 seconds.

Cornette joins David next for a promo whining about being in a cage for the RnR matches and talks about winning the Crockett Cup.

The Rock n Roll Express (Robert Gibson & Ricky Morton) vs. Stoney Burke & George South (3/18/86)

Man this crowd is apeshit for the RnR who don't take long winning this one.

Black Bart joins David next talking about how he told everyone he was going to win the Mid-Atlantic Title which he did and that he & Jimmy Garvin are winning the Crockett Cup.

Paul Jones then comes out and talks about how his Army is getting stronger and stronger every day.
