This is a rematch from last week. That match was solid. Let's see if they can take it to another level. Reed attacks early. Pretty intense fight. This is a total blast so far. A fun spirited brawl. Steamboat is great at eating Reed's offense. Just too short to go forward.

This is really great, but damn it clocks in at a little over 5 minutes. I'll give it a low-end nomination. It was all action and the crowd was super hot. Hayes just ooozes charisma. Even in just 5 minutes Hayes is great at antagonizing the crowd. The left hook by Hayes was nasty looking.

Spotlight match for Scott.

Next we get a promo from the Roadies who are pissed about the SST costing them a shot at the NWA Tag Titles.

The Samoan Swat Team vs. Trent Knight & Johnny Meadows (5/21/89)

Total squash.

Then we get Joe Pedicino Knows.

Lance interviews Funk next but Sting comes out and it turns into a wild brawl. Extra material.

Handicap Match: The Great Muta vs. Joe Cruz & Deke Rivers (5/21/89)

Muta destroys these guys.

Bob Caudle interviews Gary Hart, Muta, & Kevin Sullivan next about Eddie Gilbert and that they will take care of him. Missy Hyatt comes out to confront them and Muta sprayed mist in her face. Extra material.

Then we get clips of the Midnight Express return in the NWA World Tag Titles tournament.

Ricky "The Dragon" Steamboat vs. "Hacksaw" Butch Reed (5/21/89)

Here is a rematch from last week which was a fun match so we will see how this one goes. Butch attacks Steamer as soon as he gets in the ring before Steamer comes firing back with shots and this turns into another fun battle. Butch would get the Weaver Lock on Steamer and had him in trouble but he would break free and eventually got a schoolboy on Butch to win the match out of nowhere. Man this was another good short battle and it left me again wanting more from these two.

Next we get clips of Luger winning the US Title from Hayes from World Wide and a promo from Luger with Ross to boot.

World Wide Wrestling 6/10/89

"Hacksaw" Butch Reed vs. Keith Hart (5/22/89)

Butch wins very easily while Ron Simmons watches from ringside.

Then we get clips of Sting & Funk brawling from Pro.

"Ravishing" Randy Rose & Ranger Ross vs. The Raider & "Secret Service" Jack Victory (5/22/89)

Rose & Ross is the Georgia indie all-star team of this era no doubt and they make for a fun team.

Next we get Joe Pedicino Knows.

Easy win for Scotty.

Oriental Torture Match: The Great Muta vs. Cougar Jay, Bob Emory, & George South (5/22/89)

Muta was so awesome just killing these three guys.

Then we get another Joe Pedicino Knows.

US Heavyweight Title: Michael Hayes © vs. "Total Package" Lex Luger (5/22/89)

US Heavyweight Title: Michael "PS" Hayes © vs. "The Total Package" Lex Luger (5/22/89) This starts at a fast pace as Luger gets a nearfall on a cross body block sending Hayes to the floor to regroup as the fans are apeshit for Luger. Luger would then take it to the mat working an armbar but Hayes would bring it upright and after Luger missed a running smash into the corner he ate a big DDT sending him to the floor. Hayes posts Luger and begins working on his head like a rabid dog with punches and other strikes. The fans are on their feet for Luger as he fires up giving Hayes some fast paced offense leading to the powerslam and calling for the Torture Rack but Hayes breaks free trying for the DDT but Lex countered that. Lex then hits a big press slam on Hayes before hitting the big 10 punches in the corner but ate a big left hook by Hayes as he went for an inverted atomic drop. These guys are really moving here and Hayes would get an O'Connor Roll but Luger cut it back and used the tights to get the win as Bluefield, West Virginia loses their shit. This was a damn fun sprint and although it was short these guys were busting their ass and I think it deserves a look.
