Posted December 22, 200519 yr comment_4182787 How do you get around this? In a strange twist, a freakin' JEFF LYNCH tape is somehow copy-guarded and I can't transfer it to DVD.
December 22, 200519 yr comment_4182802 The best way is typically to use a Sima CopyMaster or some other piece of hardware that boosts the video signal from the source VCR to the recorder. A CopyMaster used to run about $50 at Best Buy or Circuit City, although it may have been replaced with a different piece of hardware since the last time I bought one. YOUR MILEAGE MAY VARY on this, though. While most tapes are cleaned up by using this method, it is not 100% foolproof.
December 22, 200519 yr Author comment_4182811 Hmmm, Brian ... if you're reading this, do you have anything like what Teke mentioned? If so, can I have you attempt to transfer this VHS tape for me and see if it works for you when I send you MisawaGQ's DVDs? Thanks.
December 22, 200519 yr comment_4183226 No copyprotect breaker. I used to know how to do it, as I had a dual-deck VCR that was copy-protected but I knew how to get around it.
December 22, 200519 yr comment_4183355 I've got a Sima CopyMaster that I got as a Christmas gift back when I thought I was going to be doing tons of dubbing. I wouldn't mind loaning it out for the sake of the trading ring, since I've still yet to use it. I should probably go locate it first, though.
December 22, 200519 yr Author comment_4184331 Are those copyprotected tapes from me or MisawaGQ? MisawaGQ. What's strange is that it's just Lynch/All Japan stuff.
December 30, 200519 yr comment_4224567 I found it. Does anyone need/want to use it? If not, I'll probably be selling it.
December 30, 200519 yr comment_4224682 Bruiser, I'll take it off your hands for future Coliseum videos from 87-89. If it works, I won't need to use the computer for conversions.
