TA interview

Lex Luger vs Bobby Eaton

This was about Bobby making Luger look good. He does this in spades. Loved how they set up the heat. Now the heat segment wasn't very interesting. Nope

Warlord vs Tim Horner

Windham promo

Sheepherders vs Wilber/Johnny Ace

nope

Ron Garvin vs Arn Anderson

We have a battle for control right off the bat. Arn with hair pulls early. Arn maintaing control with a headlock. Garvin fighting underneath. Arn stalls for a bit. Arn now goes after the arm mixed with punches. Garvin sets his comeback with a bite to the ear. Business picks up with Garvin on offense. Arn cuts him off and we get a slight clip. A missed knee drop sets up a Figure 4 by Garvin. Garvin lighting up Arn. Arn with a sucker punch to get control back. Arn has been great at cutting off Garvin's comebacks. Arn has been masterful teasing the crowd. Garvin Stomp for a near fall. Ref bump and a visual pin for Garvin. DQ though. Horsemen post match beat down. A pretty interesting match with so many comeback cut offs. Solid Nomination

NWA Main Event 5/8/88

"Captain" Mike Rotundo & "Dogfaced Gremlin" Rick Steiner vs. Sting & "Dr. Death" Steve Williams (4/28/88)

Sting looks great early on especially against Steiner who takes some crazy bumps. The faces are fairly dominant early on but Doc takes some punishment way more than Sting does. Kevin Sullivan also gets involved taking shots at Doc on the floor which gives the Varsity Club that extra advantage. Doc is pretty good working as the FIP here fighting to get the hot tag to Sting but they are telegraphing the time limit draw which he does with 20 seconds left. Sting runs wild and gets the Scorpion Deathlock on Steiner but the bell rings for the draw. This was a decent TV match nothing more.

Next we get a promo from Luger about Windham turning on him and that he did what he did and there's no turning back now.

"Gamesmaster" Kevin Sullivan vs. Ricky Santana (4/28/88)

Santana comes out firing shots but Sullivan just mauls him before finishing him off with the diving double stomp.

Magnum TA talks to Tony before the match about Windham becoming a Horsemen and he said that he made his choice now he has to live with it.

"Total Package" Lex Luger vs. "Beautiful" Bobby Eaton (4/28/88)

Magnum does commentary for the match which was JIP and Eaton did a good job of bumping and selling for Luger naturally. I liked this matchup because it was Luger against a fresh opponent and fresh matchups were needed on the NWA TV in this era. Eaton also got some offense in as well as he worked over Luger's left arm very well. I loved the finish too as Eaton missed a big dive off the top rope and Luger schoolboyed him to win so no Torture Rack a fluke. Good match but not a nomination.

NWA Main Event 5/15/88

The Warlord vs. "White Lightning" Tim Horner (5/9/88)

Horner is fiery and tries to do what he can against the Warlord but fighting him was like fighting a wall.

Next we get a Barry Windham promo showing off his new found heelness and he said that he was tired of carrying everyone.

The Sheepherders (Butch Miller & Luke Williams) vs. Johnny Ace & Mighty Wilbur (5/9/88)

Wilbur's momentum just wasn't the same after he returned from injury and he basically stood on the apron the whole match. Ace had Luke in a sleeper with Tommy Young occupied with Wilbur and Rip Morgan clocked him with the flagpole to win the match.

"Hands of Stone" Ronnie Garvin vs. "The Enforcer" Arn Anderson (5/9/88)

These two have had some great matches in the past so this has some potential. Both men jockey for control early on with Ronnie having a slight advantage. It would soon become a slugfest with Arn coming out on top taking the battle to Garvin but Ronnie would come firing back with some hard shots and he has Arn reeling. Arn though would get help from Dillon outside the ring leverage wise to keep Garvin grounded for a bit. Garvin would lock on the Figure-Four on Arn but he would break free although Garvin was still taking it to him until Tommy Young accidentally helped Arn by holding Garvin's arm so Arn could punch him. Garvin again comes fighting back and this match is getting really awesome as Garvin gets some nearfalls even one with the Garvin Stomp. Tommy Young would get bumped and Garvin would KO Arn which brought out Tully & Windham for the DQ until Dusty & Sting ran out to make the save. Very strong match and a fairly easy nomination.
