Fantastics vs Ivan Koloff/Warlord

This is for the Fantastic's U.S tag team titles. Cornette is on commentary so you can see where this might go. Watching Ivan do rope running spots with the Fantastics was really fun, and kinda shocking how quick he is at this point in the game. The whole opening face shine was well done. The cut off of the faces was pretty good. The heat segment could have been better, but it wasn't bad. Warlord showed some athleticism in this bout. I loved how he just picked up Fulton in the arm bar spot. The finishing run was good too, up to the finish that we all know is coming. I wish we had tag teams now in wrestling where a vet could be teamed with a youngster and learn from the vet how to work. Again another low- end nomination.

Luger promo

Windham vs Wilbur

No, but Windham does what he can with him.

Ron Garvin vs Mike Rotundo

This was kinda neat. It was a good give and take match. You see Garvin bring his intesity, while Rotundo used his wrestling to his advantage. Though at times you'd see Garvin use some wrestling, while Rotundo would go blow to blow with Garvin. At one point Rotundo worked a real good head scissors spots. Again all members of the Varsity Club were on the floor to help Rotundo cheat. We get the coat hanger at the finish. At times Rotundo could step up and have a good match. Low-End Nomination

NWA Main Event 5/22/88

Jim Cornette is on commentary throughout the show with Tony Schiavone.

"White Lightning" Tim Horner vs. Rip Morgan (5/9/88)

Horner looks good here and Morgan is a good enough opponent so this was okay for what it was. They really fast tracked this a time limit draw as it barely went 8 minutes not 15.

Then we get a promo from the Horsemen minus Flair talking about what happened with Garvin last week with Windham saying that he carried Garvin in the past and that is over as he is out for himself.

"Gamesmaster" Kevin Sullivan vs. Italian Stallion (5/9/88)

Stallion tries to fight Sullivan straight up early on but Sullivan just totally mauls him after that then finishes him off with the double stomp. After the match, Sullivan talks about building his Tower of Doom.

US Tag Titles: The Fantastics (Bobby Fulton & Tommy Rogers) vs. "Russian Bear" Ivan Koloff & The Warlord (5/9/88)

This is an interesting matchup here and the Fants look good early on especially against Ivan. Warlord comes in and the mood changes as Tommy Rogers starts taking punishment both inside and outside the ring with Cornette serving as a distraction as well. The crowd was definitely helping Rogers while he was FIP and the heels did a pretty good job of working him over. Fulton would get the hot tag and he ran wild but the action would break down as Tommy Young was with Warlord & Rogers on the floor and as Ivan had Fulton pinned, Cornette came in to make the 3 count for the DQ. The Fants attacked Cornette afterwards until the MX ran out. I thought this was a fun match and Rogers was really good as FIP but I don't think there is enough for a nomination.

NWA Main Event 5/29/88

"Latin Heartthrob" Al Perez & Larry Zbyszko vs. Tommy Angel & Italian Stallion (5/15/88)

So it took almost 2 months but Angel is our first official job guy to appear on the show although Angel gets maybe the most offense he ever got in his life. Perez & Zbyszko would weather the storm though and got the win in the end.

Lex Luger comes out next for a promo talking about his issues with the Horsemen and he is coming for their belts.

Barry Windham vs. Mighty Wilbur (5/15/88)

This is quite the matchup here and Wilbur gives Windham some issues early on using his size to his advantage. Windham would use cheapshots and other assorted dirty tactics to get control then slammed Wilbur fairly easily. Windham would miss a big elbow drop off the middle rope though allowing Wilbur to make a comeback and the fans were loving Wilbur throwing bombs on Barry's head. Wilbur then goes after Dillon on the floor until Windham locked on the Iron Claw on him on the floor beating Wilbur back in the ring to win by countout. Windham would keep the claw on Wilbur after the match until Ronnie Garvin ran him off. Fun for what it was and a creative finish to boot.

NWA World TV Title: "Captain" Mike Rotundo © vs. "Hands of Stone" Ronnie Garvin (5/15/88)

Rotundo getting physical with Garvin early on was fun as Ronnie got excited at this and started throwing big shots on him. Rotundo then figured out he needed to get Garvin on the mat which he did and he tried to keep him grounded. Garvin gets free and starts coming back on Rotundo which brings out Rick Steiner to join Sullivan at ringside. Garvin would lock on a Sleeper hold but Steiner would help Rotundo get to the floor to break the hold. The crowd gets red hot for Garvin as fights like hell trying to stay alive against Rotundo. Garvin would eventually KO Rotundo then started throwing bombs on the entire Varsity Club until Sullivan choked him with the coat hanger. Ronnie was getting destroyed until the faces cleaned house. I dug this match a good bit and I think it should move forward as a nomination.
