Funk's Grill-Extra

Flair vs Eaton 12/14/89

Flair is really focused here. He's working Eaton's leg. This works 2 fold. Sets up the Figure 4 and takes away Eaton's flying. I thought when Eaton went on offense he shit canned the leg work. This has a big feel fight to it. Shitty finish . I give it a solid nomination.

Going with stuff I haven't seen.

NWA World Heavyweight Title: "Nature Boy" Ric Flair © vs. Mike Rotundo (10/16/89)

These two had some matches in Florida in 1984 but this is a cool matchup for this time period. Rotundo was a buzzsaw early on working over Flair's back which was smart since Flair had his back issues. Flair comes firing back and this turns into quite the competitive match as both men give as good as they take. Flair would eventually get the win and this was a helluva little match here. Low-end nomination.

NWA World Heavyweight Title: "Nature Boy" Ric Flair vs. "Beautiful" Bobby Eaton (11/20/89)

Now this is a dream match and a first time ever matchup at that. Solid action early on and Flair working over the leg more than normal was very smart since Eaton needed his legs to fly off the top rope. Eaton would eventually make a comeback but he didn't sell the legwork from Flair earlier and flew off the top rope to the floor on Flair after Cornette had attacked Flair. Flair had Eaton ready for the Figure-Four but Cornette ran in for the DQ with a cheap finish. Even with the cheap finish and the lack of selling, I still think this match needs to move forward as a nomination just because of how damn cool it was.
