Posted May 14, 20169 yr comment_5752725 Over the years there have been numerous moves/strikes which have bothered me or I just don't like: The Worm, John Cena's You Can't See Me Fistdrop, The People's Elbow, The Bushwhackers' Battering Ram, Jeff Hardy's Swanton Bomb and Twist of Fate, and now there is a new one... Roman Reign's Superman Punch. I can't stand it. I think it looks dumb, he clearly misses entirely much of the time, the announcers play it up like it's a huge deal when he hits it. It's one of my least favorite parts of Reigns' offense, none of which I really like. What do you say? What moves/strikes do you not like and why?
May 14, 20169 yr comment_5752764 I do believe this is in the wrong folder. But, on topic: in terms of execution, Nash's jackknife powerbomb is the very first thing that comes to mind. It looks like shit, Nash seems like he's losing his balance and about to fall over on literally half the times he ever does this move. Add in the fact that it's legit dangerous and he's injured people with it, and it's one of those "no, seriously, WHY is this your finish?!" conundrums which I have never understood. In terms of bad-on-paper theory: Umaga's "Samoan Spike". How the hell do you hurt a guy with your thumb and nothing else? It's hard enough to believe the Asiatic spike as a hold, but asking us to buy this same move as a strike is ludicrous. You'd break your own finger before you actually hurt anyone else with it.

Tenryu is one of my five favourite Japanese wrestlers ever but his powerbomb is the shits. It's hard for me to watch modern matches where there are brutal head dropping moves. They seem unnecessary. I can still tolerate it in older matches even if it's not something that I enjoy anymore even if 15 years ago two of my favourite moves were the Michinoku Driver/Wagner Driver and the Guerrero style brainbuster.
May 14, 20169 yr comment_5752849 Jamming your thumb into someone's windpipe is a legit disabling move.
May 14, 20169 yr comment_5752852 Possibly fatal, depending on how hard you are able to do it. I would say that it's not a very "pro wrestling" type move. It's not flashy/big enough to really compete with even stuff like a lariat or a rolling elbow.
May 14, 20169 yr comment_5752855 I can't stand Kazuchika Okada Rainmaker. Having seen it live at ROH'S Global Wars in Chicago, I can confirm it's just a shitty clothesline.
May 15, 20169 yr comment_5752888 This is a pretty common one, and a lot of wrestlers do it, but... When wrestler A whips wrestler B toward. the ring ropes, then wrestler B TURNS AROUND AND BOUNCES OFF THE ROPES and runs back toward wrestler A. Totally unbelievable. Takes me out of the match every time.
May 15, 20169 yr comment_5752890 The Heart Punch. Wasn't the only reason the Heart Punch ever got over that someone died (for unrelated reasons) after a match where he took one?
May 15, 20169 yr comment_5752901 I could never see another goddamn Superkick again and I'd be incredibly happy.
May 15, 20169 yr comment_5752927 Knee strikes to the head, especially anything off the top or from the apron look like shit. They barely connect, give no sound for impact, and get zero pop. It's like the new age double axe handle. Almost every flying move is done for a reaction but these get zero.
May 15, 20169 yr comment_5752929 I love the heart punch. But mainly used by Stan Stasiak. It's so great in both the Buddy Rose matches and the Andre match. You guys just haven't seen those yet. I hate any move that involves a wrestler dangling from the corner forever, like Dragon Lee's double stomp (which Del Rio uses too). It's okay in trios when they have the partners set it up, but in general, it's stuff that's too obviously collaborative that bugs me the most.
May 15, 20169 yr comment_5752931 The Heart Punch. Wasn't the only reason the Heart Punch ever got over that someone died (for unrelated reasons) after a match where he took one? The Heart Punch got over because it was sold like death and nobody kicked out after taking one. The Heart Punch is awesome
May 15, 20169 yr comment_5752932 European uppercuts usually look awful, especially in person. Special mention as always for the Dean Ambrose Shitty Tope.
May 15, 20169 yr comment_5752937 Any move that requires an overblown announcement, like The People's Elbow, Sweet Chin Music, The Worm, Superman Punch, whatever that dumb thing Zach Ryder does is, Five Knuckle Shuffle, etc.
May 15, 20169 yr comment_5752953 I don't at all like the springboard/handspring cutter used by Jay Lethal and Will Ospreay.

Both of those moves were bad, so I agree there. On a side note, which folder should this have gone in (for future reference)?
May 16, 20169 yr comment_5752997 The Figure 8 is the first one that popped into my mind. I understand how its suppose to be 'cute' and an extension of a legacy, but doesn't the elevation actually lessen the pain?
