NWA Pro Wrestling 7/11/87

This was taped at the JCP debut show at the Capital Centre which was a big deal at the time.

Rocky King vs. Thunderfoot #2 (7/2/87)

This is JIP and Rocky gets a rare TV win.

Eddie Gilbert & Dick Murdoch are out next for a promo talking about their issues with Dr. Death.

Terry "Bamm Bamm" Gordy & Buddy Jack Roberts vs. "Russian Bear" Ivan Koloff & "Number One" Paul Jones (7/2/87)

Gary Michael Cappetta is doing the ring announcing here which was fun and it was odd having Jones work his a normal wrestler again. The Birds were very dominant to start the match as Ivan was taking all kinds of offense before Jones attacked Buddy from behind on the apron. Jones would then quickly tag in and out getting shots on Roberts then Ivan would throw Roberts to the floor where Jones would get more shots in as Hayes tried to chase him away. Jones would miss a big knee drop though and Roberts tagged in Gordy who cleaned house on the heels and dropped an elbow on Jones to win the match.

Luger & Dillon are out next for a promo talking about Luger's Dating Game in Philly on 7/25 and his upcoming match with Nikita where he guarantees he will be the US Champ.

Texas Death Match: "Capt. Redneck" Dick Murdoch vs. "Dr. Death" Steve Williams (7/2/87)

Doc goes after Murdoch's left arm early as they go to the floor and he wraps it around the ringpost a couple of times with Murdoch selling like crazy as Gilbert hugs him. Once back in the ring, Doc continues to really wrench the arm draping it over his body and wringing it then bashes it on the metal around the ringpost. Murdoch would use cheapshots to break free and used the mic stand from ringside to bash Doc's bad arm with it. Murdoch now gives Doc a taste of his own medicine while still selling the armwork from earlier which was nice. Murdoch then tried for a Brainbuster but Doc countered with a suplex seeing Murdoch doing the Curly Howard sell again. Doc fires up and has Murdoch reeling before he missed a shoulder tackle into the corner. Murdoch would then climb up top but when he came down Doc nailed him and both fell at the same time. Dick Woerhle then counted both men out and then declared the first man to get up would be the winner and of course Doc got up but behind Dick's back and Gilbert tripped him up so Murdoch won. Doc would attack both men afterwards. This was a fun match but for Texas Death Match it was a disappointment.

Next we get clips of the RnR/MX match from the 7/4 episode of World Wide.

NWA Pro Wrestling 7/25/87

Lazer-Tron, "Boogie Woogie Man" Jimmy Valiant, & Kendall Windham vs. The Gladiators & Sean Royal (7/18/87)

This is from Memorial Stadium in Charlotte which I loved outdoor wrestling shows. The match is JIP and fine for what it was.

Vladimir Petrov vs. Todd Champion (7/18/87)

Petrov puts Champion away easily with the Russian Sickle.

Then we get a promo with Nikita in the locker room with Caudle talking about his neck and getting his US Title back. We also get clips of the title change.

Next we get a promo from Dusty where he talks about Luger saying that he wants Dusty next and this is the beginning of that feud. Dusty talks about never being the US Champ and now it's time for him to win that. Extra material.

Western States Heavyweight Title: Barry Windham © vs. Big Bubba Rogers (7/18/87)

Rogers & Akbar riding the bullpen car to the ring was classic. They go to a break before the match started but what we get is really fun as Bubba bumps like a motherfucker and Windham almost hits a tope to Bubba on the floor as he hits Bubba with his elbow. Windham would then hit a cross body block off the top rope for a quick win. Way too damn short and I wish we had a longer match. Windham cut a promo afterwards challenging all comers and said that he wants Luger's US Title now.

US Tag Titles: The Midnight Express ("Beautiful" Bobby Eaton & "Sweet" Stan Lane) © vs. Michael "PS" Hayes & Buddy Roberts (7/18/87)

MX & Cornette ride on the bullpen car as well with Cornette holding his tennis racquet high in the air which was great. Cornette then says that every woman in the stadium wants to molest the MX. Cornette goes on commentary during the match saying that he is going to fry the Birds like KFC. This is such a fresh matchup that we needed more of during this whole JCP takes over the world thing. We go to a break very early in the match as Eaton is pinballing around for the Birds and come back with Lane getting back in the ring from the grass. MX got frustrated and did their fake breakup deal with the fans going nuts as the Birds were embarrassing them. The Birds looked really strong here as both Hayes & Roberts were getting offense on the MX who were being total chickenshits here. Cornette held Buddy as Lane grabbed the racquet and smashed Buddy to win the match in their only real offense hilarious.....Terry Gordy then runs out and tells Tommy Young what happened and he reversed the decision calling for the DQ. Very fun match but MX not even getting offense was something else.
