Posted May 18, 20169 yr comment_5753518 World Wide Wrestling 7/18/87This starts with clips of Nikita vs. Luger from Greensboro on 7/11/87 where Luger won the title in the cage and we get the celebration promo afterwards in the locker room then the promo with Nikita and this is extra material. The Fabulous Freebirds (Michael "PS" Hayes & Buddy Jack Roberts) vs. "Ragin Bull" Manny Fernandez & "Russian Bear" Ivan Koloff (7/11/87)How odd was it that on the big UWF show in OKC, Gordy was there and the other two Birds were here in Greensboro. Birds look strong early on with Buddy especially getting some shine over Ivan. The heels almost have Buddy in their corner but he crawls away to tag in Hayes as we go to break. The heels would work over Hayes especially his left arm and Paul Jones got his shots in as well. Illegal double-teams and cheapshots was everything needed to keep Hayes at bay. We go to another break as Manny has Hayes in a sleeper with David actually saying "you know the fans hate this." We come back from break and we miss Hayes' hot tag to Buddy who was now getting worked over by the heels himself so that's a chunk of the match gone. Ring announcer Tom Miller is counting down the minutes so the draw is coming. Hayes gets the hot tag with a minute left and he gets numerous nearfalls on Manny but he can't put him away. Fun match but the missing parts kills any hope of a nomination.Tony then interviews the RnR next about their recent issues with the MX and we get clips of previous matches.Steel Cage Match for the NWA World Heavyweight Title: "Nature Boy" Ric Flair © vs. "Gorgeous" Jimmy Garvin (7/11/87)If Flair won this match he got his dream date with Precious. Garvin takes it to Flair early in the match but we go to a break and when we come back Flair is in full control on offense. Jimmy would turn the tide and he had Flair reeling before a kick to the balls would change that right before we go to commercial again. We come back from break with Garvin in control of a bloody Flair although Garvin would hurt his knee allowing Flair to take over. Garvin though fights valiantly almost pulling Flair's tights completely off as he tried to leave the cage. Flair would then crotch himself on the top rope but Garvin couldn't capitalize quick enough because of his knee then couldn't hit a Brainbuster for the same reason. Flair then locked on the Figure-Four then used the ropes to win the match.Ronnie then attacks Flair afterwards but not enough for Flair not to cut a promo celebrating his upcoming date with Precious. We miss way too much of this for a nomination but this is a definite extra.Championship Wrestling from Florida 7/18/87This starts with a Bugsy McGraw promo with Solie after a match talking about the Bash tour and the Black Assassin.Kevin Sullivan vs. Tahitian Prince (7/12/87)Sullivan comes in blazing on the future Samu just firing shots and the fans are loving every minute of it. Extra material.Handicap Match: Blackjack Mulligan vs. Robbie Idol & Jack Powers (7/12/87)Mulligan getting handicap matches is hilarious.Mike Rotundo cuts a promo with Solie after the match talking about the Mulligan/Sullivan relationship before Mulligan joins in saying that he is in war right now.NWA World Tag Titles: The Rock n Roll Express (Robert Gibson & Ricky Morton) © vs. The Cuban Connection (Ricky Santana & Fidel Sierra) (7/12/87)This is a cool matchup with the RnR dominating this one early as the Cubans pinballed like crazy for them. The Cubans would finally isolate Morton in their corner and they worked him over really good as Santana & Sierra were effective in their offense. Morton would catch Santana with a kneelift allowing him to get the hot tag to Gibson who ran wild but Sierra would attack him setting off a 4-way brawl featuring a double knockdown on Gibson & Santana. Sierra snuck in playing Santana and pinned Gibson to win the titles but then Bill Alfonso grabbed the belts from them and Morton pinned Santana to win because they were the legal men proper. Fun match with a convoluted finish but not enough for a nomination. Next we get a promo from Dory & Humperdink which featured Dory singing Ring of Fire by Johnny Cash then claims that Mulligan is from Mexico not Texas. Extra material. Paul Jones joins Solie for a promo next where Solie put over his history in Florida.Mike Rotundo vs. Jerry Grey (7/12/87)Rotundo wins in seconds after an Airplane Spin. Then we get another promo from Mulligan & Sullivan.
