Posted May 23, 20169 yr comment_5754325 "Ragin Bull" Manny Fernandez vs. Invader IIII think this may be April 2nd, 1988....not sure though. Obviously this is before the big angle as they are working this like a normal match with no real big heat to start. Invader III keeps Manny on the mat with an armbar for a while until Manny breaks free and gets some help from Chicky Starr to get the advantage. Manny also takes it to the mat locking on a reverse chinlock for a bit before climbing up top only to get slammed off. Invader then gets a nearfall on an inside cradle and he keeps up the pressure getting another nearfall on a backslide before they knocked heads. Manny then dropped Invader with a DDT and hit his Flying Burrito to win although Invader kicked out before 3. This was okay but a disappointment because you wanted more.Caribbean Heavyweight Title: Leo Burke © vs. Miguel Perez Jr.DBurke stalls early on before Miguel gets him down and starts punching the shit out of him which got the crowd going hard. Burke is so good here and being a chickenshit heel hemming and hawwing around keeping the crowd hot. Burke would go on offense and started working over Miguel's left arm before going to some really nice forearm smashes. Miguel makes a spirited comeback firing off some more great punches before Leo took him down and locked on the Figure-Four Leglock with fans trying to rush the ring which was amazing. Miguel submitted but Leo refused to break the hold so the referee reversed the decision giving it to Miguel and finally the Super Medico & TNT cleared the ring. This is from 1990 since Burke was the Caribbean Champ."Ragin Bull" Manny Fernandez vs. Super MedicoThis is from 1989 and not a whole lot to this....Manny is on offense almost the entire match and wins with a back elbow. The Renegade Warriors (Mark & Chris Youngblood) vs. Abuddadein & El ExoticoThis also looks like 1989 and Exotico made a fun partner for Abuddadein doing his comedy with the serious Abuddadein as his foil. Youngbloods win this easily.Leo Burke vs. The Red DemonTotal squash.Gary Albright vs. Huracan Castillo Jr.Funny watching Albright here and this is JIP."Ragin Bull" Manny Fernandez vs. Che RosarioManny beats this guy with no issues.Next is the Invader/Ninja cage match which I've seen. Then we get a fucking awesome Abby video that is a slam dunk extra.Next we get the Abby/TNT match that I've already seen. Then we get a Cuban Assassin/Pierre Martel match from 1982 TV which I've already seen. The Renegade Warriors (Mark & Chris Youngblood) vs. The Hunters (Bob Brown & Dale Veasy)This is from 1987 and a good spotlight match for the Youngbloods but that was about it here. Hunters did fine for what they were supposed to do but this was just decent. The rest of this disc is 1991.
May 30, 20169 yr comment_5755297 Invader 3 vs. Manny Fernandez This is from an early December 89 broadcast with Hugo, Chicky and Carlos on commentary. Hugo on commentary states that the match is the first encounter between Manny Fernandez and Invader 3 in a feud that would result in the end of Invader 3's career for all intents and purposes (at least according to Hugo). So Kris is probably right about the date. The match is from Hiram Bithorn Stadium if it helps. Apparently Manny Fernandez will be part of Chicky Starr's team for the year end La gran Guerra match scheduled for Dec. 16. The face team for that event is Carlos, Invader 1, TNT and the Youngbloods. Carlos mentions that tonight in Guayama he and TNT will face Chicky and Leo Burke. Aa for the match, since it's basically a first encounter with no story it's more of a basic back and forth wrestling. It's good for what it is, but it lacks a bit of crowd heat because it is a match with no feud behind it. Miguelito Perez vs. Leo Burke (11/23/89) This is actually from 1989, Miguelito is the Caribbean champion and Burke is the challenger. Miguelito was the champ from Nov. 4 to Jan. 6 if it helps narrow the time frame. Actually, this looks to be the Thanksgiving show (La Batalla final between Carlos Colon and Stteve strong was on this card). Carlos is mentioning that last week in Caguas he went to a 60minute time limit draw with Leo Burke since Chicky was not around to interfere (Burke apparently had defeated him three straight times due to Chicky's interference). The whole deal with Burke is that he is supposedly the true master of the figure-four. Apparently La Gran Guerra match is next week. The crowd is amped for this. Leo stalls a bit to start This match is from Coliseo Ruben Rodriguez in Bayamon. Miguelito gets the advantage and Burke bails to slow it back down. Burke keeps getting under the crowd's skin and gets the advantage with some strategic hair pulling. Match continues with Leo working over Miguelito until he makes a comeback. However, mkiguelito leaves a small opening for Burke to put on the figure four. Miguelito submits but burke refuses to break the hold and the referee reverses the decision because of it. Good match, I'll put it up for discussion. Super Medico vs. Manny Fernandez Decent but somewhat short. The Youngbloods vs. El Exotico and Abudda Dein Dein looks like he may have lost a hair match going by his hair (unless that's his usual haircut). Youngbloods take this easily. Leo Burke squash win over La Estrella Roja. Huracan Castillo Jr. vs. Gary Albright Joined in progress. Albright is working an amateur/Olympian gimmick it looks like. At one point Moyano calls the time as 5:42 so far, which means it was JIP 3 minutes in. So this is 5 and half minutes of an 8 and half minute match. What's there is fun. Manny Fernandez squash win over Che Rosario. Apparently they are taping these TV matches in Aguas Buenas. Invader 1 vs. Super Black Ninja - Cage Match for the held up TV title Already nominated. Looks to be sourced from the channel 41 airings. Abdullah the Butcher music video. I Abdullah vs. TNT for the NA title (1/6/89) Already nominated. This seems to be from an English airing (I'm guessing Channel 41) from Feb or March of 90 since Hugo mentions TNT is the reigning Universal champion and is facing Abdullah in a title defense in Bayamon net Saturday. Hugo mentions that Ricky Vargas has not been able to referee lately due to being injured in a six man tag match a few months ago in Mayaguez. I wonder if there may be any other English shows out there in the wild. Pierre Martel vs. Mercenario 1 (Cuban Assassin) This is from a 1990 airing with Moyano, Choicky and Carlos on commentary. Pierre is coming back to Puerto Rico and is facing Leo burke tonight at the Juan Ramon Loubriel Stadium in Bayamon for the TV title. I'm not sure this match is actually on the other discs, I remember Pierre vs. Mercenario 2, but not this one. Then again, I still have to go through a few more discs. The Youngbloods vs. The Alaskan Hunters From Hiram Bithorn Stadiium. Apparently they are airing this in 1990 because the Hunters are coming back tonight at Juan Ramon Loubriel to face the new Invaders team (1 and 4) in their debut as a team. Also, they are joining with a new manager El Jefe (don't recall who that is offhand). As for the match, the Youngbloods have been in control for most of the match so far. We come back from commercial to the heels in control. Even with the clip the match goes quite a while. The heels cheat to get the win. Hmm, I Iiked this May go for a low level nom.. Rest is from late 91. Wahoo McDaniel vs. Randy Rhodes Invader 1 vs. Dick Murdoch TNT vs. Manny Fernandez (likely one of TNT's last matches in WWC before jumping to AWF, TNT has recently lost the TV title, Manny is the number one contender to the Universal title) Highlights of the Universal title match between Carlos Colon and Manny Fernandez from Thanksgiving Day 91. Wait, Manny won the Universal title!?! Miguelito Perez vs. Fidel Sierra
