Posted May 23, 20169 yr comment_5754391 The Renegade Warriors vs. The MercenariesThis is JIP and I think from 1990 not sure. The match was fine as Mark did a good job of working FIP and the Mercenaries worked a basic hard hitting offense. Chris got the hot tag and it broke down into a 4-way brawl until one of the Mercenaries brought out something to choke Chris with then tied it to the top rope so he could beat him down. Mark was by himself and the Mercenaries then used what looked like a blackjack to beat him down as the match was called for a DQ now.Ricky Santana vs. Sandy LoveI think this is also from 1990 and easy win for Santana. The Renegade Warriors (Mark & Chris Youngblood) vs. The Hunters (Bob Brown & Dale Veasy)This is from 1987 and seemed like an impromptu match on TV by the way it started. Youngbloods were a house of fire to start and the crowd was loving every minute of it. The Hunters would get the heat on Mark and took turns working him over as they switched in an out illegally because they looked so much alike. Hunters were very basic but effective on offense before Huracan & Miguel showed up to attack the Hunters out of nowhere because by the way it looked they were supposed to be in this match to begin with since they had suitcases. This is a hot angle as the babyfaces just beat down the heels as the crowd goes nuts. Huracan hits a big plancha off the top rope and the ref counts the pin.The Invader & TNT vs. Chicky Starr & Steve StrongThis looks like from 1989 and TNT/Strong start beating the hell shit out of each other right at the bell before Strong ducks outside. The referees then check Starr for foreign objects which sends him running outside. TNT gets Chicky when he comes back in the ring and the babyfaces take turns getting their shots in on Chicky bringing out the juice as Invader is especially happy in beating his ass. They are doing their best to keep Chicky away from making the tag as he is a complete bloody mess but he finally does and Strong comes in trying to get revenge but the babyfaces double team him. As this is happening, Rip Rogers shows up with some other heels and they take Chicky to the back leaving Strong by himself to get the hell beat out of him. TNT would eventually pin Strong and this was just a massacre. This might be extra material."Ragin Bull" Manny Fernandez vs. Nick AyalaThis is from 1989 and a total squash.Next we get clips of a fun looking Invader/Manny match.Gary Albright vs. Armando HernandezTotal squash then Carlos Colon comes in the ring after the match where Albright attacks him until Carlos made his own comeback and sent Albright packing.Miguel Perez Jr. vs. Mercenary #1 (Cuban Assassin)This is also from 1989. Miguel dominates early with Mercenary going to the floor to regroup multiple times. The other Mercenary comes out which brings out Huracan Castillo Jr. who would help Miguel win. Nothing much to this.TNT vs. Dan KroffatThis looks from 1988 and it's JIP with Kroffat doing a good job of playing heel including at one point he was between the ropes yelling at the fans so TNT kicked the rope and fouled him. Kroffat would get control and he worked over TNT hitting a nice senton and a clothesline. Kroffat missed a diving body press off the top rope hitting all knees from TNT who fires up for a comeback. TNT hits a beautiful spinning kick putting Kroffat down then a savate kick to win the match. Fun match but not a nomination.Gary Albright vs. Ricky SantanaThis is from 1989 and a interesting matchup. Slow start as there is some stalling plus Santana goes after El Profe some on the floor. Albright would use his strength advantage to weaken Santana and this is kind of slow and plodding until Albright missed a big splash off the middle rope hitting all knees which sparked the Santana comeback and he starts peppering Albright with punches. Santana then went after Albright's left arm wrapping it around the post a few times. Santana then went up top hitting a big splash but Albright kicked out. This now turns into a slugfest with both men throwing big shots to each other before Albright caught Santana with a big belly-to-belly suplex to win. The last few minutes of this was really good and I'll push this as a low-end nomination.Caribbean Heavyweight Title: "Nature Boy" Buddy Landell © vs. TNT (9/17/88)BUDRO!!!!! and we already have one match from these two a month earlier nominated but this time Buddy is champ. pretty good back and foth action to start with Buddy doing some fun selling for TNT's kicks. Buddy drops to the floor to regroup and he comes back in with some chops but TNT returns the favor quickly and starts back pounding on Buddy again. Buddy would send TNT to the floor where TNT starts laying in the shots on him then goes back to the ring where he continues to take it to Buddy but Buddy fires back when he can it's just TNT is that much better at striking. Buddy catches TNT though with a kneelift then drops the Corkscrew Elbow but TNT kicks out. Buddy then starts working TNT's left leg setting up the Figure-Four but he lets TNT get up and wants to fight him on his feet mocking him as he got up which was funny. TNT of course was all about this but Landell would just take TNT down again and went back to the leg where he would get the Figure-Four. TNT is selling his ass off trying to reverse the hold and he finally does but Buddy is in the ropes. TNT then gets up sells the leg and starts firing away on Buddy hitting a big savate kick in the corner then locks on the Cobra Clutch with Landell fighting his ass off sending TNT into the corner. Landell would miss a diving elbow drop and a knee lift into the corner then TNT would cover him for the pin even though Landell's foot was on the bottom rope. This was a damn fun match and a fairly easy nomination.Next we get Miguel Perez Jr. vs. Harley Race from 1/6/90.Leo Burke vs. La SombraSquash match and this definitely isn't the famous Sombra.Gary Albright vs. Estrella RojaAnother squash match.TNT vs. Dr. Death (1/11/89)This ain't Steve Williams unfortunately and TNT wins easily. The Mercenaries vs. Armando Salgado & Brett SawyerThis is from 1989 and so funny watching Brett Sawyer in 1989 WWC. Sawyer gets some offense in but this is a glorified squash.Next we get clips of Miguel Perez Jr. vs. Mr. Kareem Muhammad from 1/6/88.Then we get Carlos Colon vs. Leo Burke which is from January 1990 I think.
May 30, 20169 yr comment_5755306 The Youngbloods vs. Los Mercenarios (Cuban Assassin and Gerry Morrow) This is actually from 12/16/89, you can see the La Gran Guerra cage set-up in the background. From Juan Ramon Loubriel Stadium in Bayamon. Apparently there will be a Russian Roulette match with Carlos Colon involved, not sure what that is. Pretty good action with the heels attacking the Youngbloods with their belts at the end. Once again, the DQ comes not from when they attack with the belts, but when they shove the ref. Ricky Santana vs. Sandy Love This is from Vega Alta. It's from 1989 since Ricky Vargas is the ref and Joaquin Padin is with Moyano on commentary. Quik win for Santana. The Alaskan Hunters vs. The Youngbloods This from 1987,. On commentary they mention that it was supposed to be the Caribbean Express as the opponents, but the Youngbloods stepped in as substitutes. Chicky is their manager and he has a neck brace, so it's likely summer of 87. Good TV match. The Express show up and attack the Hunters. The ref actually counts the pin for the Express. TNT and Invader 1 vs. Steve Strong and Chicky Starr From 1989 at the Mets Pavilion in Guaynabo. After Invader complains, two refs come out to search Chicky for foreign objects. Hugo mentions TNT is the TV champ, so it places it around July or August of 89 I think. The faces are just taking it to Chicky, he's a bloody mess. Chicky finally makes the tag and falls out of the ring. Steve strong is by himself against TNT and Invader. It takes a heart punch and karate kick to take down strong though. Manny Fernandez squash win over Nick Ayala. Clip of Invader 1 vs. Manny Fernandez. Gary Albright squash win over Armando Fernandez. Carflos Colon come sin after Albright continues attacking his opponent. Miguelito Perez vs. Cuban Assassin Assassin is half of the Caribbean tag champs. Solid match for TV. Miguelito wins when their respective tag partners (Castillo and Morrow) come out. TNT vs. Dan Kroffat This is likely from late spring or summer of 1988 and is JIP. Krffat is great here as heel working the crowd and playing it up. Could be from Guaynabo. Fun match, six and half minutes shown. Ricky Santana vs. Gary Albright (11/23/89) I'll second the low level nod. Good match, it slowly ramps up in terms of aggressiveness. TNT vs. Buddy Landel for the Caribbean title Buddy is the champ for this one. This is from Caguas. Really liked this match, I'll also second the nomination. Miguelito Perez vs. Harley Race This is from the Ruben Rodriguez Coliseum in Bayamon. Harley takes it to Miguelito, even tossing him into some chairs at ringside. the fans help Miguelito back up. Crowd starts throwing trash into the ring during the match. Harley wins the Caribbean title. The title history says that Harley won the title on 1/6/90, so not eligible. Leo Burke squash win over La Sombra. Gary Albright squash win over La Estrella Roja. TNT easy win over. Dr. Death (1/11/89). Man, the crowd's rough yelling at TNT to not wake him up. Los Mercenarios defeat Armandito Salgado and Brett Sawyer. Miguelito Perez vs. Kareem Muhammad (1/06/88)) Match is joined in progress. From Coliseo Roberto Clemente. Good stuff but don't know how much of the match is missing. Carlos Colon vs. Leo Burke is the rematch for the Universal title. Leo is the champ, which means this is from January of 1990. It's a shame because the match is good. After the second commercial break we go to an interview with Chicky Starr and Eddie Wattss. And now some guy is teaching me about placentas and how babies develop in the mother's womb. Fingers and toes develop after the sixth week and brain and heartbeat activity can be measured. Riveting stuff.
