WWC Tag Titles: Bart & Brad Batten © vs. Dr. Death & Mr. Pogo (October 1988)

Again this ain't Steve Williams. Battens look strong to start then we get a big clip after a commercial with the heels in control beating on one of the Battens near the stands. Too bad we missed that chunk because this turned out to be a pretty good match with one of the Battens getting piledriven on a fucking board being held by Profe and pinned with the heels walking out with the titles although it was explained by the other babyfaces to the referee what happened and he reversed the decision.

Puerto Rico Heavyweight Title: Ricky Santana © vs. Mr. Pogo (September 1988)

Pogo stalls like crazy before the match and Santana gets sick of it chasing Profe around the ring which as that happened Pogo went to his pants and put something in his hand as fans threw trash at him. Pogo would eventually dominate Santana putting him in a sleeper hold then transitioning to a Cobra Clutch but Santana would get to the ropes to break the hold. Santana then comes firing back and he has Pogo reeling before going up and hitting a big splash but as the referee made the count the bell rang as we went to a time limit draw. This was okay and they've had better matches.

Next we get the Caribbean Express/Kansas Jayhawks hair match which I've seen already.

Ricky Santana vs. Chicky Starr (October 1988)

Santana focuses on Chicky's left arm early in the match with a lot of arm drags as the catalyst. Chicky watch catch Santana with two knees in the corner and that was what he needed to take control. Chicky would slam Santana on the floor and he was really taking it to Santana here. Santana would get a sunset flip for a nearfall then came back with a flying clothesline and that sparked his comeback with Chicky now trying to survive. Chicky then just left the ring and ran to the locke room for a countout finish. Terrible finish to a match that was getting good.

Then we get a Bobby Jaggers squash.

WWC Tag Titles: Bart & Brad Batten © vs. Dr. Death & Mr. Pogo (October 1988)

This is a rematch from the first match on the disc with the reversed finish. Battens use their speed advantage at the start to stay away from heel double-teams in the corner and also used their looks to switch in and out when needed. The heels try and fight back but they can't gain any traction as the Battens were in the zone at the time. Battens would hit Pogo with a big Double Dropkick but as this happened, Profe loaded up Dr. Death's elbow pad and he gave one of the Batten's a big clothesline to win the match. Here comes another referee who tells the referee in the match what happened and again we get another reversed decision with these teams and this time we got a restart. The heels now take control and they destroy the Battens now as one of them was posted and he is juicing. The other Batten recovered and he runs grabbing a steel chair which he brings in the ring and swings it like crazy for the DQ.

"Hands of Stone" Ronnie Garvin vs. Iron Sheik (9/10/88)

Sheiky attacked Garvin at the bell and started choking him with his own towel. Sheiky was roughhousing Garvin good before Ronnie came out firing away with chops and jabs to offset Sheiky. The match from here became my turn your turn with both guys trading control with Garvin using his striking and Sheiky using holds. There were some disjointed points in this as well although Garvin was laying in the shots though which was nice. They went outside in the mud and brawled for a bit before Garvin beat Sheiky back in the ring to win by countout. Man I really wanted to love this but I couldn't which was sad because of Garvin so I can't see this as a nomination.

Next we get Jaggers vs. Santana in progress.

Jason the Terrible vs. Invader III (October 1988)

The story here was Invader was pesky trying to weaken Jason but Jason was too much for him in every way and pinned him easily. Jason continued his beatdown after the match beating Invader bloody.

Then we get The Battens vs. Los Pastores which I've already seen.

Carlos Colon & Invader III vs. Hercules Ayala & Chicky Starr (October 1988)

Fun seeing Colon & Invader III teaming up and Chicky is just as fun bumping and selling for them. Chicky is getting punished quite a bit and has begun juicing before tagging in Ayala who comes in only to meet Colon so he drops to the floor and this happened a few times because Ayala wanted no part of a fresh Colon. Ayala's stalling here would make Larry Zbyszko blush. Invader III got tired of this shit and kept throwing Ayala into the ring to get punished by Colon. Chicky then decided to get in the ring and took more punishment from the babyfaces and even decked Ayala by mistake. Eventually we would get Colon & Ayala in the ring together with Ayala in control but as soon as Colon got some shots in Ayala went back to the floor. Chicky then took some more punishment since Ayala didn't want to be in the ring but Invader III would get caught in the heels corner and now it looks like we are getting an extended control section. Invader got his mask ripped and was bloodied by the heels so bad his chest was covered in red. Invader III is a fucking mess before he gets the tag to Colon who fights off both heels on his own since Invader is struggling. Invader finally joined in and the 4-way brawl was on with Colon getting the Figure-Four on Ayala but Ayala would get free and went to the floor where Colon worked over his knee even more unti; Chicky ran and got a steel chair which he used on Colon. Invader then took the chair and the heels went running away. Crappy countout finish but MY GOD the blood that was shed here....this was insane and this is a fairly easy nomination.

Jason the Terrible vs. TNT (November 1988)

TNT looked strong early but Jason would take over and he battered TNT using power moves as well as some help from Chicky Starr at ringside. Jason jumping off the top rope to the floor hitting TNT with an axehandle smash was impressive for a dude his size. TNT's selling here was something else as he was spazzing out. Jason then went for a SOMERSAULT SENTON off the top rope and missed prompting a TNT comeback where he fired up on Jason putting him down wtih a spinning kick. TNT then caught Jason with his savate kick followed by the Cobra Clutch but Jason would force him to release it. Jason then fouled TNT and came off the top rope with a diving headbutt to win the match. This had some fun moments but it's not a nomination.

Hercules Ayala vs. Invader III (November 1988)

Ayala dominates early on as he plays king of the mountain keeping Invader out of the ring for a bit. Invader would come back in and he got some offense on Ayala sending him to the floor. Ayala took this for a bit before locking on the Figure-Four and made Invader submit. Okay match but nothing special.

Jason the Terrible vs. TNT (11/12/88)

TNT came out firing strikes and even did some of Jason's patented no selling on shots but that would piss Jason off and he took TNT outside where he threw him around but TNT came fighting back hitting a big jumping headbutt. TNT would then suplex Jason on the basketball court before throwing him back in the ring where he had Jason reeling before clotheslining him over the top to the floor. TNT then followed that with a big diving body press from the top rope to the floor and the crowd was going nuts. Still though Jason is a monster and it wasn't long before he had TNT in trouble again with the highlight of this section being a big release German Suplex. Jason would miss a big splash off the top rope though and TNT was now back in action throwing out everything he could to finish off Jason but it wasn't working. TNT caught him with a big savate kick but Chicky got on the apron only to get assaulted by TNT allowing Jason to headbutt TNT to win the the match. TNT had a really strong performance here that makes this a low-end nomination.

Caribbean Tag Titles: The Kansas Jayhawks (Bobby Jaggers & Dan Kroffat) © vs. The Caribbean Express (Huracan Castillo Jr. & Miguel Perez Jr.) (October 1988)

Good back and forth action to start with Kroffat again standing out. Kroffat hit a Tiger Driver on Miguel for a nearfall which was fun. The Jayhawks were really good at keeping the referee out of position as Miguel would get pinfalls behind his back. Castillo would get the tag and he ran wild before Jaggers threw him over the top rope to the floor. Miguel then came in and they attacked him before tying their bullrope around his neck and they started hanging him until Huracan cleared the ring with a chair. Extra material for the hanging.

WWC TV Title: Carlos Colon © vs. Ron Starr (November 1988)

This was nothing but a slugfest at the start with Starr coming out on top at the start and he would look like a buzzsaw going through Colon who couldn't really answer. Starr even took Colon outside the ring where he bashed him a couple of times with a steel chair then picked up the ringside table and dropped it on his head. Starr is just throwing punches in bunches and then hit his big Million Dollar Kneelift but Colon still won't go down. Starr is getting frustrated as he doesn't know what to do but Colon would find that will to win and he would then explode on Starr as the crowd lost their minds. Starr would leap frog Colon and headbutted the referee by mistake. Chicky then came in the ring and Colon attacked him which in the process Ron went flying to the floor when Colon slammed Chicky into him. Ron started shoving Chicky around on the floor blaming him for what is going on and the referee counts him out. Colon & Ron then start brawling again in the ring before Colon kicks him in the balls and sends him to the floor. The match was very fun and the angle at the end puts it over the top as a nomination.

WWC Tag Titles: Chicky Starr & Ron Starr © vs. Bart & Brad Batten (11/12/88)

Battens are very strong early as they batter the heels themselves and allowed the heels to hit each other also making them look silly. The heels would eventually get some offense in though but it wasn't very long before the Battens got back in the match and after the hot tag we got the 4-way brawl where Chicky was in an O'Connor Roll but Ron would KO one of the Batten's with a chain allowing Chicky to win. The problem was though it was hanging out of the back of his tights and the referee saw it then took the belts away from them and gave the match to the Battens then held the belts up. I think the angle is a definite extra as it's the beginning of the Chicky/Ron breakup angle.

Already seen Chris Adams vs. Afa.

Decision Match for the vacant WWC Tag Titles: Bart & Brad Batten vs. Chicky Starr & Ron Starr (11/19/88)

This one starts out way differently from the last match as the heels put up a bigger fight early on in the match. In fact they are pretty strong at working over the left arm of one of the Batten's and keeping him away from his brother. The other Batten would come in but every time he would get a nearfall, Chicky would stop the referee. Ron & Chicky started having problems again and a Batten took advantage of this to throw Ron into Chicky then schoolboyed him to win the match and the titles. Chicky & Ron start fighting each other furiously as Hercules Ayala tries to help out until Starr decks him and it becomes 2-on-1. Ron really gets worked over by Ayala & Chicky until Carlos Colon runs out to make the save. The fans then try to get Carlos to go in the ring to help Ron get up but he walks away. The heels then bring his bags out and threw them at the entrance way with Ron looking around upset. Definite extra.

Invader III vs. El Profe (November 1988)

Profe does a good job of playing chickenshit heel here when he can but Invader seemed to find a way to stop him. We get a clip and we miss where Profe gets the advantage on Invader then we lose the sound completely which hurt the rest of the match for me.

"Hands of Stone" Ronnie Garvin vs. "Cowboy" Bob Orton Jr. (10/15/88)

Again there is no sound for this which sucks because I was looking forward to this one since these guys had such a long history going back over 10 years in Knoville. The sound would pick up thankfully right after the Garvin Stomp. Orton would take Garvin outside the ring where they brawled near the scaffold then Orton climbed up the scaffold a little and dropped right down on Garvin. Garvin came fighting back with hard shots and they brawl to the stands where Garvin bashes Orton's head into the wall but it was at this time the sound went out again. The brawling on the floor was really fun and Garvin pulled down Orton's tights so Orton worked a couple of minutes with his tights down and a black dot on the screen. Orton then threw Ronnie over the top rope to the floor for a DQ. My enjoyment would've been better if I had soind.

Carlos Colon & Ron Starr vs. Hercules Ayala & Chicky Starr (December 1988)

Ron Starr as a babyface is something to see but I can't hear it because there is no audio. The fact I can't hear the crowd heat is hurting this big time as it looked fucking awesome. I am fucking pissed.

WWC Tag Titles: Bart & Brad Batten © vs. Dan Kroffat & Tama (12/17/88)

Kroffat & Tama as a team is random as shit but they were a fun ass team. The heels stall around a bit to start the match and then when the action starts the Battens look good on offense with the heels bumping hard for them. The heels would go on offense and they were effective but not dynamic. Kroffat would miss a big splash off the top rope and got inside cradled by a Batten but Tama had the referee distracted. We finally get the hot tag and the Battens run wild now on the heels as Tama ate a Double Dropkick to the floor then Kroffat got hit with a missile dropkick. Tama though would come off the top rope with a diving headbutt on a Batten to win the titles but the referee would DQ the heels and reversed his decision. This was a fine match but not a nomination to me sadly.

Carlos Colon vs. Iron Sheik (10/15/88)

Sheiky attacks Colon at the bell but Colon comes firing back with shots hitting him so hard that he got juice from Sheiky. Colon would throw the referee down and Sheiky would kick Colon with his boot and had Colon pinned or so he thought as Colon broke free and got an O'Connor Roll to win. Fun match but I would've loved a better finish run.

Ron Starr vs. Chicky Starr (12/17/88)

This is nothing but a war to start as Ron is fucking pissed at Chicky and takes him to the floor where he busts him open immediately. Ron is kicking the shit out of Chicky who is begging for mercy and he is putting it all there hitting his big Million-Dollar Kneelift for a nearfall as Chicky got his foot on the bottom rope. Ron would go for the DDT and Chicky broke free went scurrying outside where he tried to recover. Great spot as Chicky gave Ron an irish whip but he passed out and Ron came back with a knee to the face. Chicky though would get a sleeper hold out of nowhere and then started firing away with whatever he could muster up. Chicky is giving Ron a taste of his own medicine and he throws him into the crowd. Ron started firing back but Chicky caught him low and then we get a chair thrown in the ring as fans were running around and Chicky used it on Starr. Ron though came fighting back throwing some awesome punches before grabbing a chair and used it on Chicky as payback. Chicky rolls out of the ring and it looks like he has enough and runs out but Ron chases him down which as this happens there are fans in the ring jumping around and they quickly leave which was an awesome visual. Chicky tries to leave but Ron pulls him back in so he can punch him but Chicky fouls him hard right in the balls and then runs away this time for good. Cheap finish but god damn this was a total war and a definite nomination.

Next is Terry Funk vs. TNT which I've seen already.

Then we get the Colon vs. Ayala Inferno Match which I've seen already.

Next is Ayala vs. Rufus which I've seen.

Then we get Chicky Starr's Sport Shop with Ron Starr where Chicky said Ron turned on him blaming him for the issues. Chicky spits on Ron who attacks Chicky then is jumped by Chicky & Ayala. This was fun as hell and a definite extra.

Universal Heavyweight Title Tournament - Finals: "Hands of Stone" Ronnie Garvin vs. Carlos Colon (11/24/88)

What a fucking match this is and Colon is coming out to One Moment in Time by Whitney Houston...AMAZING.....We also get both National Anthems set to some great classical guitar playing which was classy. Both men are babyfaces here so it's all about trading holds and leverage to start the match. Colon had Ronnie in a short arm scissors for a good bit really working over Ronnie's left arm. Tensions would soon start mounting which is what we needed here because these two were made for brawling. The fans were starting to buzz as well just waiting on the explosion. Garvin would get a sleeper hold on Colon and the fans went nuts knowing that Colon is in trouble. Colon broke free though and immediately went to work on Garvin's left leg setting up the Figure-Four with Garvin landing wrong on a leap frog and the ref stopped Colon from taking advantage. Garvin then KOed Colon with a right hand then started jumping around as he faked the injury and the fans were going nuts throwing trash in the ring. Chicky Starr then ran out and shook Garvin's hand and they walked out together. That finish was AWESOME and this match is a easy nomination.
