Louisville Street Fight: Big Bubba Rogers vs. Ronnie Garvin (1/4/87)

There was some clipping here and the camera was out of focus. Some really fun brawling here as expected but the clipping hurt the flow.

Ragin & Ravishing (Manny Fernandez & Rick Rude) vs. "White Lightning" Tim Horner & "Capt. Redneck" Dick Murdoch (1/4/87)

This is a fresh matchup but again the quick clipping hurts the flow of the match. Horner looks really good early on against the heels using his quickness to frustrate them. We get a clip from Horner having Manny down with an armbar to Murdoch giving Manny an atomic drop. Murdoch is fun here throwing his awesome punches and working over both heels using a variety of offense. This really made me want a Murdoch/Rude singles match as Rude was fun selling his ass off for him. Horner & Murdoch would work pretty well together with some cute double-teams and tagging in an out but Manny would wake up and he caught Horner hitting big with a flying back elbow then sent him to the floor so Rude could slam him. As Horner is getting worked over we have already missed a good 6-7 minutes of the match according to the ring announcer and the time stamp so that's not good. Murdoch would get the hot tag and he started teeing off big time on Manny then took him down with the Calf Branding for a nearfall which was close. The dude taping the match tells his boy that "Murdoch is on tonight" and he was as he looked damn good here. Horner comes back in and the heels go back in control and the quick clipping again is hurting the flow. The heels would finish off Horner winning the match. I liked this but I can't nominate this because of the clipping.

NWA World Heavyweight Title: "Nature Boy" Ric Flair © vs. "Russian Nightmare" Nikita Koloff (1/4/87)

Flair is a complete chickenshit early stalling and hemming and hawwing around avoiding Nikita and then taking punishment when Nikita got to him. The match then became all about Flair working over Nikita's left arm with various spots in between of Nikita getting some hope spots. Nikita's selling was decent but far from good yet it was believable and then his comeback was good as he posted Flair which brought out the juice. Nikita would get the Figure-Four Leglock which popped the crowd big with Flair grabbing the ropes to survive. Nikita kept up the pressure though and hit a Russian Sickle bouncing out of the corner but he was spent from everything in the match and couldn't to Ric fast enough to win. He had Ric pinned but Ric got his foot under the bottom rope and Tommy Young told Nikita what happened. Flair would low bridge Nikita and he put his feet on the ropes to pin Nikita but Tommy Young caught that so he quit counting. Flair would then backdrop Nikita over the top rope to the floor causing a DQ which was a shitty finish. Nikita would give Flair a Russian Sickle for good measure after the match and walked off with the belt. I thought this was a pretty good match and I'm throwing it up as a low-end nomination.

Bunkhouse Stampede (1/4/87)

Lots of guys doing a bunch of nothing early in the match but play pitty-pat with each other. The action started picking up and guys were eliminated fast and furious before it was just Dusty & Bubba as the last two in the ring naturally. Dusty would fight Bubba hard and then slapped him hard enough for him to go over the top to the floor to win.

NWA World Heavyweight Title: "Nature Boy" Ric Flair © vs. "Russian Nightmare" Nikita Koloff (1/4/87)

 

Koloff teasing the sickle early. Flair chops him in the corner and Nikita no sells them. Flair takes a powder. Koloff using his strength to control Flair. Flair kicks him, and suckers him in for no luck. Nikita bear hug. They work some nearfalls out of it. Nikita has an answer for all of Flair's moves. Finally, Flair rakes the eye. Flair is on fire. He's working Nikita over on the outside. Back in and Flair has got the arm. Nikita though is showing some life. Flair picks up the agression. Desperation sickle gets 2 . Nikita's arm work on top is rather ho-hum. Flair starts to work the leg. Their are very few better at this. We get some more of this. Nikita makes a comeback. A sickle gets an incredible near fall. Crowd thought it got a title change for a second. Cheap finish for such a long match. Low-end nomination. NWA HH 1/4/87
