Armstrong throwing beautiful drop kicks. This is a solid tag that feels like a low level nomination. It's not at the level of their later feud. Though you can see the blueprints of some really good stuff. NWA Southern Pro 6/21/87 Kevin Sullivan promo Dory Funk Jr vs Mike Rotundo I like the forearms from both guys early. The mat work is fun here. It has a real 70's feel to it. Well it is Dory. This match is interesting in spots, but drags.
February 22, 20178 yr comment_5789318 This starts with The Sheepherders introducing the new host of Southern Pro Wrestling in Sir Oliver Humperdink who brings out Jim Cornette for a promo talking about how the MX have come to Florida to take out The Southern Boys. US Tag Titles: The Midnight Express ("Beautiful" Bobby Eaton & "Sweet" Stan Lane) vs. The Southern Boys (Steve Armstrong & Tracy Smothers) (6/6/87) Southern Boys look really good early on both MX members throwing some solid dropkicks among other moves that frustrate the champs. Armstrong would get isolated though and the MX would go to work on him but he would get the hot tag to Smothers who cleaned house setting off a 4-way brawl until Cornette would whack Smothers with the racquet causing the MX to win. Low-level nomination at best. Then we get a whacky Kevin Sullivan promo talking about seeing the Lady of the 3rd eye and preparing for battle against the new forces in the area and that he will stand together with Dusty soon. Florida Heavyweight Title: Mike Rotundo © vs. Dory Funk Jr. (6/6/87) Cornette joins Hump for commentary and this is way more entertaining than the match which was a bore for sure. Rotundo would finally snap and started roughhousing Dory but sure enough we ended up back on the mat. Kevin Sullivan showed up and wanted to his interview but they told him that he had already done it. TV time would then run out right after this....weird....
