NWA Pro Wrestling 2/20/88

The Varsity Club (Rick Steiner & Mike Rotundo) vs. Gary Royal & George South (2/10/88)

Steiner debuts his headgear in this match which was cool then makes South submit to a funky submission. The Varsity Club then cuts a promo after the match.

Sting vs. John Savage (2/10/88)

Sting takes this very easily and then is interviewed by Jim Ross afterwards about wanting Flair.

The Powers of Pain (The Barbarian & The Warlord) vs. Tommy Angel & David Isley (2/10/88)

Total squash and we get a promo afterwards from Paul Jones wanting a ladder match with the Roadies.

Trent Knight vs. "Gamesmaster" Kevin Sullivan (2/10/88)

Sullivan just mauls Knight here before throwing down Tomm Young and getting DQed as Rotundo & Steiner helped Sullivan attack Knight.

NWA World Wide Wrestling 2/20/88

Tony interviews Magnum TA who said that he is ready to get more involved in wrestling and wants to counteract JJ Dillon. He is promising a surprise at the Norfolk Scope on 2/20 which was his baseball bat.

Luger & Windham then cut a promo next talking about Sting getting a shot at Flair on TV.

NWA World Heavyweight Title: "Nature Boy" Ric Flair © vs. Sting (2/10/88)

Sting throws Flair around like a ragdoll early and it's fun watching this match as this was the setup to the big Clash match and set the template. Flair went to his type of match he would have against the Road Warriors and Sting was acting like a Road Warrior here with the power moves and no selling at times. Flair would take Sting to the floor and started working him over as we went to break. We come back from break and Flair is still working Sting over both inside and outside the ring even tearing down the security railing at one point. He was acting like a madman throwing Sting over the top rope but Sting immediately came back with a diving clothesline off the top rope and he was getting fired up as we went to yet another break. Sting is really taking it to Flair when we come back from break but misses a big splash and hits all knees. Sting would come back with a big cross body bock off the top rope on Flair but hit Tommy Young as well sending him to the floor. Sting then hit the Stinger Splash and got the Scorpion Deathlock but Dillon refused to let the other referee into the ring and posted him. Dillon then entered the ring himself trying to stop Sting then called out Arn but Luger & Windham held the moff at the pass as the the jobbers ran out trying to pull Sting off of Flair. This match ends in a DQ and even with the breaks it was a pretty good match with a great angle afterwards. I'll pass it on as a low-end nomination.

Ricky Santana vs. Curtis Thompson (2/10/88)

Santana wins but it's a sloppy finish.

Next we get a promo from Dillon about what happened with Flair and he is pissed off. Dillon said that he is going to force Jim Crockett to solve this issue.

Mike Rotundo vs. Larry Stephens (2/10/88)

Rotundo wins in seconds.

Then we get a promo from Dillon about the Nassau Coliseum show on 2/21.

Luger, Sting, & Windham are out next for a promo talking about how they are coming for all of the Horsemen's titles.

Arn Anderson then comes out for a promo talking about how Flair's beatdown by Sting was like a lynching and he said that the Horsemen are going to kill Luger, Sting, & Windham. Extra material.

The Powers of Pain (The Barbarian & The Warlord) vs. Bob Emory & George South (2/10/88)

POP maul these guys.
