Barry Windham starts the show with a promo talking about his past with Mike Rotundo but now he wants his TV Title and we get clips of their match from NWA Pro taped on 2/26 where the Varsity Club cost Windham the title. and used a coat hanger on him. Windham cuts a very serious promo about the situation and this was good stuff. Extra material.

Arn, Tully, & Dillon are out next talking about keeping their NWA World Tag Titles and winning the Crockett Cup although they know they have tough competition.

Shane Douglas vs. Gene Ligon (3/2/88)

Another good win for Shane using the Belly-To-Belly Suplex. Shane cuts a promo afterwards about where he said Magnum PI by mistake and talks about wanting to make a name in the NWA.

Flair & Dillon are out next where it's announced that he will wrestle Sting at the first Clash of the Champions show in 3 weeks. Flair cuts a promo on Louisville talking about his love for the North Carolina Tar Heels not the Louisville Cardinals then pimps JR Reid over Pervis Ellison. This is a tremendous promo for me since I'm a Tar Heel fan. Extra material.

NWA World TV Title: Mike Rotundo © vs. Ricky Santana (3/2/88)

These two had tagged up some in Florida just months earlier and they had some good chemistry here as there was some fun back and forth action early on as they did a good job of trading holds. Rotundo started using dirty tactics to get the advantage over Santana with help from Sullivan and he had Santana reeling but Santana kept staying alive. Barry Windham would show up with 5 minutes left in the match to root Ricky on. Rotundo just keeps trying to pin Santana but Santana just won't die even with Rotundo using a DDT which I rarely ever saw him use. Santana fights and fights but Rotundo seemed to find a way to stay in the match. Rotundo chunked Santana to the floor but Windham held off Sullivan and threw Santana back in the ring. Rotundo couldn't beat Santana and he held him to a draw but Rotundo attacked him & Windham after the match then Windham beat on Rotundo & Sullivan until Steiner jumped him. Sullivan got the coat hanger again with Shane Douglas trying to help but that failed. Windham would hit a double lariat though making his own save. The angle is extra material but the match wasn't enough for a nomination.

Dusty is out with Crockett out next talking about the Texas Barbed Wire match he is having with the Roadies against Koloff & The Powers of Pain on the first Clash of the Champions. Dusty also talks about Flair, Zbyszko, Baby Doll, & Varsity Club. Dusty also vows to choke children if they don't watch the Clash. Extra material.

Cornette comes out for a promo talking about how he has some bad news but tells David it's not his AIDS test results. Cornette then talks about all the teams in the area and talks about the debuting Fantastics ripping them up. Cornette is great here. Extra material.

Barry Windham vs. Gary Phelps (3/2/88)

Easy win for Barry.

Baby Doll comes out with her snakeskin boots talking about how her boots cost more than Dusty's. Zbyszko then brings up Dusty talking about choking children and that it's not just the photos they have on him but he wants to abuse children. This promo is hilarious. Extra material.

"Living Legend" Larry Zbyszko vs. Randy Hogan (3/2/88)

Randy Hogan is so damn hilarious to watch looking like a emaciated 1984 Hulk Hogan and Zbyszko eats him up.

Luger comes out next for a promo talking about the first Clash of the Champions then of course takes his shirt off to reveal his oiled up chest talking about wanting the NWA World Tag Titles.

The Jive Tones (Tiger Conway Jr. & Shaska Whatley) vs. Keith Steinborn & Ryan Wagner (3/2/88)

Another impressive showing for the Jive Tones and they cut a promo afterwards about wanting that Crockett Cup and the million dollars.

Rick Steiner & "Gamesmaster" Kevin Sullivan vs. Steve Atkinson & Alan Martin (3/2/88)

Steiner & Sullivan just manhandle these guys with Steiner dropping both men on their heads with suplexes. The VC then cuts a promo afterwards where Sullivan rips on Jim Ross then demands that Windham come after him because his boys will take care of him.

The Road Warriors (Animal & Hawk) vs. Rick Orasi & Bob Riddle (3/2/88)

Animal is back in action wearing his hockey goalie mask and they destroy these guys and the Roadies gave a fun interview afterwards with Hawk being extra frisky.

Tony Suber vs. Super Destroyer (3/2/88)

This definitely isn't Scott Irwin and they are trying to recapture the magic of the Mulkeys beating The Gladiators as Suber gets a huge upset beating this masked man. Crockett wanted to interview Suber but went to the back...hilarious.

Paul Jones & Powers of Pain are out next with Jones complaining about Animal wearing a hockey mask and how he got snookered into having a barbed wire match at the Clash.

"The Enforcer" Arn Anderson, Tully Blanchard, & "Nature Boy" Ric Flair vs. Mike Jackson, Rocky King, & Trent Knight (3/2/88)

Always love seeing the Horsemen in 6-Man tag matches on TV and they all look great here. The Horsemen and Dillon cut a promo after the match with Flair pulling a black woman out of the crowd who he said was Dusty's biggest fan and I think he actually called her "sapphire" Extra material.

I'm good with the Extras.

 

I would give a nom to Santana vs Rotundo, but too many commercial breaks hurt the flow.
