Maybe this has already been pointed out multiple times but it would be a first for me.

Egomaniac owner who had huge success in the 90s

Drug related problems with talent

Owner continues to tank their own product to satisfy ego

Hires experts (coaches, former great wrestlers) only to let that talent go to waste because owner knows better

Continue to have successful brand name despite shitty on air product

Still living off past glories

Hardcore fan base of support despite weak product

I guarantee you guys can come up with more specific comparisons but I think Jerry Jones and Vince McMahon are the same person.

Tony Romo is John Cena: he hasn't had the success of past aces and is hated by a significant chunk of the fanbase, but he's much better than his detractors make him out to be.

I clicked on this thread to make this exact point. Tony Romo and John Cena are both legitimately great, but we'd much rather ridicule them for not being good enough. HOT TAKE ALERT: Tony Romo is better in every single way than Eli Manning, but Eli plays for a well run organization and Romo plays for the Cowboys.

There's no clear analogue to Shane in the Cowboys universe, though. Both Jerry's sons are heavily involved in the Cowboys organization - Stephen is the personnel guy while Jerry Jr. works on the business end. So there's no HHH either, unless Charlotte's husband is much more involved than I'm aware of.
