Posted July 13, 20169 yr comment_5759167 The Midnight Express ("Beautiful" Bobby Eaton & "Sweet" Stan Lane) vs. Bob Emory & Mike Simani (12/8/88)MX looks strong here and Cornette is on fire on commentary. The Russian Assassins (Angel of Death & Jack Victory) vs. Italian Stallion & Terry Jones (12/8/88)Of course an easy win for the Assassins.Junkyard Dog vs. Trent Knight (12/8/88)JYD makes his TBS debut here and he has replaced Nikita Koloff on the roster. JYD is very big here but the fans love him. Ivan comes out and thanks JYD for helping him at the Clash after the match and they are coming for the Assassins at Starrcade. Ivan makes JYD an honorary citizen of Russia which JYD asks if there are any projects there. The Original Midnight Express ("Loverboy" Dennis Condrey & "Ravishing" Randy Rose) vs. Rick Allen & Jerry Price (12/8/88)Price getting thrown right into the podium right at the start of the match was something. OMX are very dominant here.Barry Windham vs. Ryan Wagner (12/8/88)During the match, Gary Hart joins commentary talking about the managers will have their own Bunkhouse Stampede. As this is going on, Windham systematically takes apart Wagner. Windham & Dillon join Tony after the match talking about Starrcade and how they will take out Bigelow. The Texas Broncos (Dustin Rhodes & Kendall Windham) vs. Bill Holiday & Curtis Thompson (12/8/88)Dustin & Kendall debuted the week before and this was something watching a very green Dustin teaming up with one of his father's big rivals. This got quite a bit of time with the faces methodically picking these guys apart.Luger is out next with Jim Ross wearing quite the 1988 fashions talking about his match with Flair at Starrcade."Hot Stuff" Eddie Gilbert vs. Mike Jackson (12/8/88)Windham is watching Gilbert from afar as he will be working Gilbert on the show next week and this is the beginning of the Gilbert megapush angle. This starts out scientific but the men get heated and this is pretty fun stuff. Jackson getting all hot and bothered was way different for him and him pushing Gilbert to be more aggressive was cool. Gilbert ended up winning and this was a fun segment not a nomination though. The Commandoes (Grizzly Boone & Ray Candy) vs. Randy Mulkey & Eddie Sweat (12/8/88)Total squash.Schiavone talks to Humperdink next and he talks about the upcoming managers Bunkhouse Stampedes.Rick Steiner comes out next with Alex's dog wearing a ribbon while Steiner is wearing a Santa hat talking about Christmas. Steiner gives Jim Ross the dog to hold when he wrestles."Dogfaced Gremlin" Rick Steiner vs. George South (12/8/88)Steiner continues to wear the hat in the ring as Ross complains about holding the dog. Steiner puts the Santa hat on Teddy Long's head in a funny spot. Steiner then brings a kid into the ring and lets him kick South before the finish. The Varsity Club (Mike Rotundo & Steve Williams) vs. Randy Hogan & Gary Royal (12/8/88)Sullivan asking Ross if the dog was his date was great. This was a total squash.Ric Flair joins Tony next for a promo talking about how he is Mr. Starrcade and he never loses there and won't lose to Lex Luger because he is the best going today. Extra material.Sting vs. Keith Steinborn (12/8/88)Sting jumping up and down so much that Teddy jumps up and down with him was funny. Dusty was supposed to team with Sting here but he no-showed so Sting went solo. Sting then after the match did his Elmer Fudd impression saying he was hunting Road Warriors. The Road Warriors (Animal & Hawk) vs. Max Miles & JC Wilde (12/8/88)Total destruction and they talk to Tony about Sting looking for them and they are right there wanting him to show up.
