Magnum TA makes his debut here replacing Tony Schiavone as Jim Ross' partner on the show because Tony has left for the WWF. Also the referees have gone to their grey shirts and bowtie look.

Eddie Gilbert starts the show out wearing a bandage over his nose selling his nose injury. They show clips of the injury and Gilbert said that he won't be mr. nice guy anymore.

The Varsity Club (Kevin Sullivan & Steve Williams) vs. Bob Emory & George South (2/1/89)

The US Tag Champs take these jobbers to school with the highlight being Ross calling Sullivan the "Jim Jones of pro wrestling." The armwork here on Emory was insane as they tried to break his arm with some sick armbars.

Steamer joined Jim Ross next talking about how he had a workout later in the show against 3 men to prepare himself for his upcoming match with Flair at Chi-Town Rumble.

The Fantastics (Bobby Fulton & Tommy Rogers) vs. Trent Knight & Eddie Sweat (2/1/89)

The Fants are back on WCW after being not on for a month and they look great going into 1989. Tommy sitting on a woman's lap rooting on Bobby at one point was funny.

Flair & Windham are out next with their new manager Hiro Matsuda talking about the money that the Yamazaki Corporation has put out there to them and that money will help take out Steamer. Extra material.

Abdullah the Butcher vs. Dave Heath (2/1/89)

Yes this is the future Gangrel being demolished by Abby.

NWA World TV Title: "Dogfaced Gremlin" Rick Steiner © vs. Pretty Boy Floyd (2/1/89)

Steiner just throws this dude all over the ring and hits him very hard. Steiner threatening to suplex Tommy Young was great.

The Varsity Club are out next for a promo with Rotundo talking about getting his belt back very soon and Sullivan talking about how they aren't scared of the Roadies with Sullivan saying that he likes to get beat on.

Barry & Kendall Windham vs. Mike Justice & Robbie Wise (2/1/89)

The Windhams look very impressive here working together as heels.

The Midnight Express ("Beautiful" Bobby Eaton & "Sweet" Stan Lane) vs. The Terminators (2/1/89)

Don't know who these Terminators are but they are built dudes and as the MX is beating on them, Paul E. and the OMX are out baiting them with a sign saying that Cornette is leaving on 2/20.

Luger is out next with Magnum talking about how he hasn't forgotten about Flair but he knows that he has to get some leverage and that means the US Heavyweight Title which he plans on taking from Windham at Chi-Town Rumble.

Ricky Steamboat next has an open workout with Bob Cook, Rick Diamond, & Dustin Rhodes who was still with the company after all but treated like a quasi jobber. Flair comes out and shits all over the session which was hilarious. They went to commercial and during that Flair & Steamer got into another wild brawl which was awesome. Definite extra.

The Roadies are out next for a promo talking about the Varsity Club and how they sent other people out of the area and the VC is next.

Hacksaw Butch Reed vs. Jerry Price (2/1/89)

Matsuda is with Reed as well as he has bought out all of JJ Dillon's contracts. Reed again looks very impressive here.

Sting is out next with Jim Ross for a promo talking about his future match with Butch Reed at Chi-Town Rumble. Sting does a Butch impression and said that he wants to get nasty.

The Road Warriors (Animal & Hawk) vs. Mike Jackson & Kip Montana (2/1/89)

Roadies just manhandle these guys.

"Capt. Redneck" Dick Murdoch vs. Mike Thor (2/1/89)

Murdoch toys with Thor before dropping him with the Brainbuster.

Cornette and the MX come out next for a promo where Cornette calls Paul E. a "fruit" and does an impression of the voiceover guy from The Untoucables TV show.

"Captain" Mike Rotundo vs. Rick Allen (2/1/89)

Rotundo is relentless here working over Allen before putting him away with the Butterfly Suplex.

Michael "PS" Hayes, Junkyard Dog, & Sting vs. The Cruel Connection (Gary Royal & George South) & Max McGyver (2/1/89)

Hayes, JYD, & Sting are teaming together because they were supposed to face the Roadies & Tenryu at the Clash. The faces looked strong here and talked about the Clash after the match where they want the gold.
