Posted July 16, 20169 yr comment_5759447 World Championship Wrestling 2/11/89Cornette starts the show with a fake issue of The Sun which claimed that Paul E. had a sex change and then he had gifts for Paul E. for when he must leave town. This is hilarious. Definite extra."Hacksaw" Butch Reed vs. Trent Knight (2/2/89)Another strong show for Butch.Luger is out next with Ross talking about how he is studying Windham heavily and will be ready for him at Chi-Town Rumble.Michael "PS" Hayes & "Capt. Redneck" Dick Murdoch vs. Rick Allen & Mike Thor (2/2/89)Hayes & Murdoch is quite the team for sure and they look pretty strong here as a team with Murdoch dropping Allen with the Brainbuster. The Road Warriors (Animal & Hawk) & Precious Paul Ellering vs. The Varsity Club (Mike Rotundo, Kevin Sullivan, & Steve Williams) (2/2/89)This is from the Saturday morning Championship Wrestling show and the fans wanted to cheer for the Roadies again and this feud gave them the chance. This is nothing but a brawl from the start before Doc held the ropes so Animal could fall through the ropes right on his right arm. Doc then hit Animal with the podium, US Tag belt, and they jumped on the arm with Hawk throwing the podium breaking it. The fans are going nuts for the Roadies as the VC viciously work over Animal's arm. Hawk got tired of it and ran in attacking the VC then Ellering got a tag and came in with the VC throwing Ellering shoulder first into the post. Hawk got thrown over the top rope for a DQ then Hawk grabbed a chair and just went wild running off the VC. Hawk then said that he wants to kill the VC and Animal said "God Damn" very loud as he cut his promo. This isn't a nomination but it should definitely be on the set as an extra.Ross interviews the VC next about what happened earlier and they said that they are tougher and badder than the Roadies. Sullivan then talks about wanting to break their arms off. Extra material.NWA World TV Title: "Dogfaced Gremlin" Rick Steiner © vs. Pretty Boy Lloyd (2/2/89)Steiner faces Lloyd again for the 2nd straight week and works this match wearing his jacket. PBL I think may actually be Paul Lee using a different name which is funny. Steiner of course kills him.Paul E. and the OMX are out next talking about how Cornette's career will be coming to an end at Chi-Town Rumble. The Midnight Express ("Beautiful" Bobby Eaton & "Sweet" Stan Lane) vs. The Cruel Connection (Gary Royal & George South) (2/2/89)If both teams fight in the studio they would be suspended so the OMX leave as the MX take care of the masked men.NWA Main Event 2/12/89This starts with Paul E. asking Ross where that "Italian fella" is and Ross said that he doesn't work here anymore. Nice way of sending off Tony Schiavone. This was the first time that Ross & Paul E. worked together in an announcing setting and they had great chemistry from the start."Capt. Redneck" Dick Murdoch vs. Keith Steinborn (1/30/89)Very easy win for Murdoch.Michael "PS" Hayes & Sting vs. "Nature Boy" Ric Flair & Barry Windham (1/31/89)This is from the Cobb County Civic Center in Marietta, Georgia and I was at this show. Windham does a good job of pinballing for Sting to start before Flair comes in and we get the standard Flair/Sting interactions with Flair being pissed at Teddy Long who stood behind Sting at one point to protect himself. Hayes & Flair then have a fun exchange and Flair is in his wheelhouse here against two of his favorite opponents. We get dueling Figure-Fours at one point and as Teddy Long gets Sting out of the ring that allows Flair to low blow Hayes and now the heels are in control as Windham comes in working over Hayes who is good here working as the FIP with the focus being on Hayes' groin. Hayes benchpressed Flair off the top rope to get the hot tag to Sting who came in firing away on Flair then Windham. Sting got the Scorpion Deathlock on Flair but Windham would smack him which brought Hayes in for a 4-way brawl. The heels tried to double up on Sting but Hayes tripped up Flair and Sting got an O'Connor Roll on Windham for the win even though Flair was the legal man. Even though the finish was what it was I thought this was a pretty fun match and a low-end nomination.
