Posted July 20, 20169 yr comment_5760018 This starts with the Danger Zone with Paul E. saying that he isn't imitating Piper's Pit which he kinda was and then he brings out Sting as his guest. Sting screams in Paul's face from the front and the back to frustrate him. Sting talks like a surfer again and calls Paul ugly. Sting then mocks New York and and does some Three Stooges schtick."Dogfaced Gremlin" Rick Steiner vs. Paul Brown (3/30/89)Steiner tosses Brown around like a ragdoll here.Next we get clips from the 3rd fall from Flair/Steamer at the Clash. Then we get an interview from Flair's lawyer Dennis Guthrie demanding a rematch with Ricky Steamboat in the next 30 days because of the controversial nature of the finish. Guthrie said that he would sue everyone in the NWA if this match doesn't take place. Extra material. The Road Warriors (Animal & Hawk) vs. Greg Brown & Keith Steinborn (3/30/89)Total destruction. Then we get clips of Luger vs. Victory from the Clash."Total Package" Lex Luger vs. Kendall Windham (3/30/89)Luger looked awesome here taking Kendall apart as well as poking Michael Hayes who was on commentary. Luger would go flying over the top rope missing Kendall and that allowed Windham to get some offense in. Luger would make a quick comeback though with Hayes distracting Luger so Kendall could jump him. Kendall then came off the top but Luger caught him in a powerslam to win.Bob Orton Jr. vs. Shane Douglas (3/30/89)What a matchup this is. During the match, Ross talks up the Danger Zone with Sting, Luger vs. Kendall, and other things which already aired. Douglas uses a headlock quite a bit here but Orton would methodically pick Douglas apart. Douglas makes a comeback hitting Orton with a big dropkick off the top rope but Orton kicked out. Douglas would go up top again but Orton caught him and then dropped him with the Superplex to win. Fine little match but not a nomination. The Varsity Club (Mike Rotundo & Steve Williams) vs. Greg Brown & Don Sanders (3/30/89)Here is Greg Brown working twice on the same show and getting destroyed.NWA World TV Title: Sting © vs. Rip Morgan (4/2/89)This is from the Clash show in New Orleans and didn't air on the Clash proper because of that whole debacle regarding the timing of the show. Morgan gives Sting a little fight but Sting prevails in the end with the Scorpion Deathlock.Jim Herd makes his TBS debut next talking about what Flair's lawyer had to say earlier and that he didn't care what he said but the rematch will take place in Nashville on 5/7. Extra material."Secret Service" Jack Victory vs. "Ravishing" Randy Rose (3/30/89)Rose jumped off the top rope on Victory on the floor to start the match and that got it going with a hot start. Rose just takes it to Victory whipping him with his belt sending him & Paul running with Rose chasing him around the ring until Jack nailed him with a clothesline. Victory now is in control and batters Rose but it doesn't last long as Rose makes a comeback until Paul bashed him with the phone and Victory covered to win.Next we get clips of Murdoch vs. Orton from the Clash.Handicap Match: The Great Muta vs. Cougar Jay & Gary Royal (3/30/89)Muta hits the Moonsault for the first time on WCW and his legend keeps growing. Then we get a promo from Steamer who said that he knows the 3rd fall was screwy but he wants to prove that he is better than Flair one more time and that would be Flair's last chance. Flair then cuts a retort promo saying that he is the best no matter what and he would get his belt back from Steamer in Nashville. Extra material.
August 30, 20178 yr comment_5812596 Extras are good. My thoughts on the Shane Douglas vs Bob Orton match that I nominated. This is from WCW Saturday night. This is a match that might get eaten up with the high end stuff, but thought it deserves a look. It's the basic youngster takes the vet to the limit story. Shane's opening shine is ok. He works it pretty conservative. He works the headlock non stop like he's afraid of making a mistake. On Orton's heat it is well done and pretty interesting. Now Shane's comeback is full of energy and excitement. I enjoyed how Orton set up the Superplex.
