World Championship Wrestling 4/22/89

This starts with another taped promo by the Roadies about losing their tag titles to the Varsity Club and they are coming for revenge at Wrestle War.

"Ravishing" Randy Rose & Ranger Ross vs. Rip Morgan & "Secret Service" Jack Victory (4/11/89)

Tommy Young took over for Teddy Long before the match. Rose again started out on fire here hitting another dive from the ropes to the floor this time on Morgan. This is a short all-action match with Victory cradling Rose using the ropes but Tommy Young saw it so Rose schoolboyed Victory to win. The heels attacked Rose after the match using Jack's belt until Ranger made the save.

Next we get clips of the Murdoch/Orton feud with Murdoch cutting a serious promo afterwards about getting revenge on Orton.

Then we get a taped promo from Steamer about his match with Flair at Wrestle War. Extra material.

Tonga vs. Trent Knight (4/11/89)

Samoan Savage is known as just Tonga in his debut here and he manhandles Knight here winning with a regular suplex of all things.

This is followed by a Flair promo about Steamer regarding Wrestle War. Extra material.

Bob Orton Jr. vs. Bob Emory (4/11/89)

Orton wins very easily with the Superplex then along with Hart cuts a promo on Murdoch after the match where they rips on Murdoch's daddy.

Next we get clips of Sting & Iron Sheik from last week with Ross telling Sheik that Sting will swing the Persian Clubs next week.

Then we get clips of the Gilbert/Sullivan feud.

The Samoan Swat Team (Fatu & Samu) vs. "Hot Stuff" Eddie Gilbert & "Dog Faced Gremlin" Rick Steiner (4/11/89)

SST jumps the US Tag Champs at the bell and we get a fight immediately as the champs come firing back. Steiner firing off on the SST was really fun then Gilbert came in working FIP and he was solid in this role. Paul E. tripped up Gilbert which caused Missy to slap him then Sullivan came out and grabbed Missy by the hair trying to drag her backstage when Steiner came to make the save and got met by a big clothesline by Spivey. Gilbert then found Sullivan and started brawling with him as this was a wild scene. Very good stuff and extra material.

Junkyard Dog vs. The Red Devil (4/11/89)

Devil attacks JYD at the bell and pays for that one as he eats the Thump. Ross interviews JYD after the match about his match with Muta at Wrestle War and JYD said that Kabuki couldn't put him out so Muta won't do it either. Hart comes out and said that he wanted to hear what the "nappy headed character" had to say. Hart said that Kabuki couldn't retire JYD but Muta will.

World Championship Wrestling 4/29/89

This show stars with Flair coming out with a group of women and a trimming of his hair with Flair saying that he has started his victory celebration a week early. Flair said that he is extremely confident that he is going to get his belt back at Wrestle War. Steamer shows up and gets in Flair's face in a fun segment. Extra material.

Bob Orton Jr. vs. Trent Knight (4/17/89)

Hart joins Ross at commentary with Ross telling him that he is needed backstage so he leaves as Orton is beating down Knight. Murdoch then shows up beating on Hart using his bullrope which Orton counters with a chair but it dents the chair. Murdoch then joins Ross and said that he was sick and tired of Orton & Hart and that he is going to take them out at Wrestle War.

Ron Simmons vs. Junkyard Dog (4/17/89)

JYD shakes Simmons hand before the match with Teddy Long as the referee and JYD doesn't like it. Simmons shoves JYD and Long gets in JYD's face allowing Simmons to cheapshot him. This becomes a roughhousing match with both men shoving each other. JYD shoves Teddy Long so he can get to Simmons. Ron eventually shoves JYD down from the corner and Long fast counted the pin giving Simmons the win. Jim Herd then comes out with Ross and announces that Teddy Long had been suspended but now he is permanently fired from being a referee.

The Great Muta vs. Lee Scott (4/17/89)

Muta is becoming a cult hero at Center Stage as the black fans are cheering him heavily. Muta looks amazing here hitting the Moonsault to win.

Next we get Sting & Iron Sheik for the swinging of the Persian Clubs and before that happens Sting runs in the ring and jumps right on his back to pump himself up. Sting gets Sheiky to swing the clubs twice then asks him to do it one more time. Sting then said that Sheik was the best at swinging clubs and he said that he is the best in wrestling and walks off. This is the best version of this angle ever. Extra material.

The Samoan Swat Team (Fatu & Samu) vs. Greg Evans & George South (4/17/89)

SST destroy these guys.

Steamer comes back out for a promo talking about Flair so Flair comes out like Ricky did to him earlier. This promo goes on about the lifestyles of the two men and this is good stuff. Extra material.

Luger is out with Jim Ross next talking about how Hayes knocked him out with brass knux recently in Chicago and that Luger won't let that happen again especially at Wrestle War. Luger said that has to keep his title for his fans.

Michael "PS" Hayes vs. Steve Casey (4/17/89)

Casey doesn't last long here with Hayes dropping him with a DDT fairly quickly as Luger does commentary.

"Hot Stuff" Eddie Gilbert & "Dogfaced Gremlin" Rick Steiner vs. The Varsity Club (Mike Rotundo & Steve Williams) (4/17/89)

Robin Green is at ringside and gives Steiner a present before the match. This had some good action to start but Kevin Sullivan would quickly run out trying to cut Gilbert's hair. Missy tries to help but he throws her down until the Roadies run out to make the save. Extra material.
