Jim Ross starts the show talking about Ric Flair's neck injuries thanks to Terry Funk.

Paul E. Dangerously then starts the show saying that he manages the next NWA World Tag Champs in the Samoan Swat Team and he wants the Road Warriors next week.

The Great Muta vs. Ranger Ross (5/9/89)

Ross' push is subsiding and Center Stage pops like mad for Muta when he comes out as we have a split crowd with some chanting Muta and the others USA. Ross gets some offense in and has Muta reeling a little but Muta fights back and sprays two different mists for the first time before hitting the Moonsault on Ross. Muta getting more impressive by the week.

Next we get clips of Funk injuring Flair at Wrestle War with Funk's first live promo following it and Funk felt Flair disrespected him and he had to make him pay for that. Funk of course is amazing here on this promo. Definite extra.

Then we get a promo from Luger and he said that he is tired of playing by the rules all the time and that he is going to come unwrapped to get his title back. Luger said that he is tired of trying to please everyone else.

The Fabulous Freebirds (Terry "Bamm Bamm" Gordy & Michael "PS" Hayes) vs. Cougar Jay & Lee Scott (5/9/89)

Gordy & Hayes teaming up for the first time in almost 2 years and they look like a powerhouse here just mauling these guys. We even get the old double-team powerbomb as a finish as well. The Birds cut a promo afterwards about Luger with Hayes saying that if he has a Badstreet Match with Luger then Luger's career may be over. Gordy then talks about the NWA World Tag Titles tournament and he said that they will beat everyone that comes in their way.

Next we get clips of the title matches from Wrestle War.

Jim Herd announces next that there would be a tournament for the vacant NWA World Tag Titles and the Midnight Express was supposed to be a surprise team but of course they were listed in the brackets here. Sullivan comes out whining about Herd making that decision and said that the Varsity Club are the rightful champs. Sullivan then buries Dr. Death not by name saying that a guy from the Big 8 cost them the titles because he is stupid. Extra material.

Teddy Long is out with Jim Ross next and said that he has a video to play. This is the debut of Norman the Lunatic where he starts out normal and then becomes a lunatic as he changes his hair and has paint on his face. Definite extra.

The Road Warriors (Animal & Hawk) vs. Tom Branch & Dewayne Bruce (5/9/89)

This ends in seconds as the Roadies steamroll these guys and they cut a promo on the SST saying they don't wear skirts like them. Hawk talks about Beetle Bailey for some reason.

Then we get clips of Sullivan injuring Rick Steiner from Wrestle War.

Scott Steiner vs. Kevin Sullivan (5/9/89)

Steiner makes his TBS debut here and Paul E. is with Sullivan for some reason. Steiner starts out strong but Sullivan comes firing back with his roughhouse tactics. The fans are behind Scott heavy as he makes his comeback but he missed a running shoulderblock into the corner and Sullivan cradled him to win. Sullivan then tried to attack Steiner with a steel chair and Nick Patrick reversed the decision as Eddie Gilbert comes out to help Scott as well.

Next we get the Dynamic Dudes video again.

Then we get a promo from Steamer thanking everyone for supporting him but Flair won fair and clean so he can't complain. Steamer said that he wants to get back in the title picture and wants to fight anyone it takes to get there.

Terry Funk vs. Troy Aldridge (5/9/89)

Funk gets on the mic before the match and he complains about Flair not being there and Funk wanted Aldridge because he was a rookie. Funk is amazing here being a complete maniac. Definite extra.
