World Championship Wrestling 7/8/89

This stars with clips of the Steiners/VC situation.

Rick & Scott Steiner vs. John Brewer & Mark Smith (7/6/89)

Kevin Sullivan does commentary with Ross here talking about how he is going to destroy Rick at the Boston Garden that night. Steiners look awesome here especially Scott who hit the Frankensteiner for the first time on WCW. Steiners then join Ross for a promo afterwards where Scotty talks about Rick having a date with Robin Green playing basketball.

Next we get a promo from Ricky Steamboat in a locker room with Jim Ross where he wants his match with Lex Luger at the Bash to be a No DQ match. Steamer shows a lot of emotion here. Extra material.

Flyin Brian Pilmman vs. Cruel Connection (George South) (7/6/89)

Pillman makes his WCW debut here and Connection jumps him at the bell. Pillman has a fight on his hands but he would take control of the match and won it fairly easily with a big diving body press off the top rope.

Jim Ross talks to Lex Luger next about Steamer's No DQ challenge earlier and Luger said that Steamer has no leverage here as he is a champion and Steamer isn't. Luger said that this will be a regular match with normal rules. Luger is a total prick here. Extra material.

The Fabulous Freebirds (Jimmy "Jam" Garvin & Michael "PS" Hayes) vs. Steve Casey & "Ravishing" Randy Rose (7/6/89)

Casey gets some nearfalls on Hayes early on and the faces give the Birds a good fight to start but the Birds eventually settle it down with Gordy helping out suplexing Casey on the floor and handle their business with Garvin dropping Rose with the DDT to win the match.

Then we get the Danger Zone with Terry Funk as the guest. Paul E. wearing a Batman shirt is so Summer 1989 it's not even funny. Funk is great here cutting a psycho promo on Flair saying that he will end his career. Definite extra.

The Midnight Express ("Beautiful" Bobby Eaton & "Sweet" Stan Lane) vs. The New Zealand Militia (Rip Morgan & Jacko Victory) (7/6/89)

Cornette joins Ross on commentary for the match. This had some really good hard hitting back and forth action with both teams throwing some bombs out there. Militia were underrated as a team mainly because it was two secondary partners becoming a team but as workers both men were solid. Eaton worked FIP and did a good job having some fun hope spots using his fierce punches. Lane would get the hot tag and he ran wild on the Militia before it turned into a 4-way brawl. Eaton would hit a big elbow smash off the top rope on Jacko as Lane was being pinned by him to get the win for the MX. Very fun TV match but not enough here for a nomination.

Ric Flair is out next for a live promo in front of the Cobb County Civic Center crowd and he fans are nuts for Flair. Believe me I was at all these shows and Flair was fucking molten hot as a babyface....if Dusty had turned him a year or two earlier Crockett may have still been in business. Flair cuts a great promo on Funk even ripping his shirt off. Extra material.

World Championship Wrestling 7/15/89

The Dynamic Dudes (Johnny Ace & Shane Douglas) vs. Fred Avery & Snake Brown (7/6/89)

The Dudes were over at this time and this was a good win for them.

The Skyscrapers (Danny Spivey & Sid Vicious) vs. Dewayne Bruce & Lee Scott (7/6/89)

Teddy Long does commentary with Ross & Hayes during the match and Norman comes walking out as well to watch the match. Scott gets thrown around as usual and the future Buddy Lee Parker gets spike powerbombed to end the match.

"Dr. Death" Steve Williams vs. Tony Suber (7/6/89)

Suber slamming Doc early on then talking shit was hilarious. Doc then tees off on Suber and finishes him off with the Oklahoma Stampede. Doc screwed up the finish as he raised up early and then dropped back on Suber so Young could finish the count.

Cornette is out next talking about his history with Paul E. building up their match at the Bash and this is a slam dunk extra.

Next we get the Danger Zone with Ric Flair where Flair ran Paul off the set and cut another great promo on Funk. Definite extra.

The Great Muta vs. Scott Hall (7/6/89)

Hall makes his WCW debut here after some hilarious videos. This had an interesting pace as they started out slow then Hall started botching spots before Muta sprayed red mist in his face then choked him with wrist tape before pinning him after a thrust to the throat. Hart & Muta cut a promo with Michael Hayes afterwards.

Next we get Luger with Ross in a taped promo and he is wearing the darkest sunglasses ever acting like a complete douche. So good as Luger calls himself the new Dirtiest Player in the Game and he still wants a regular match with Steamer. Extra material.
