World Championship Wrestling 7/22/89

The Party Patrol (Davey & Johnny Rich) & Tommy "Wildfire" Rich vs. Trent Knight, Lee Scott, & George South (7/19/89)

Fun seeing the Rich cousins all team up together here and they look good getting the win.

Next we get a promo from Garvin & Hayes talking about being in War Games at the Bash PPV.

Then we get a video of all the piledrivers from Terry Funk lately. Funk then cuts an awesome promo in preparation for his match with Flair at the Bash. Extra material.

The Skyscrapers (Danny Spivey & Sid Vicious) vs. Bob Emory & Tony Suber (7/19/89)

Teddy Long joined Ross on commentary and Norman came to ringside as the Skyscrapers killed these guys.

Lex Luger joins Jim Ross next for a promo about his match with Steamer at the Bash where he said that he is the best in the world and complete perfection. Luger also said that he won't be there carrying Sting any more as well. Extra material.

Ranger Ross vs. Keith Steinborn (7/19/89)

Ranger gets a good win here with the Combat Kick.

Steamboat joins Ross next for a promo about Luger saying that his main motivation going into the Bash is getting payback on Luger. Steamer cut an extremely passionate promo and this is extra material.

Next we get the Danger Zone with Hot Stuff & Sting talking about the match with Muta where Paul E. tries to get some shit started and this whole deal with Sting & Gilbert was supposed to end with Eddie turning on Sting but it never came to pass. Sting then gets a gay lisp going on prancing around talking about Paul E.'s pink panties that will be seen when he loses to Cornette.

Rick & Scott Steiner vs. Iron Sheik & Wild Bill Irwin (7/19/89)

This is the first time the Steiners come out to Welcome to the Jungle on WCW. Robin Green meets Rick as he comes out and he hugs her on his way to the ring. Irwin gets some offense early and both men get some on Rick but it's almost all Steiners after that as both Rick & Scott look impressive here.

Then we get a video for War Games narrated by Kevin Sullivan and this is really well done.

Ric Flair then comes out for his last promo on Funk before the Bash and he says that one of them would die in 24 hours. Flair then gives his support to Steamer & Sting and rips on Luger. This is great stuff. Extra material.

World Championship Wrestling 7/29/89

Rick & Scott Steiner vs. Iron Sheik & Ron Simmons (7/19/89)

Rick hugs on Robin Green again. Sheiky is taking on a mentor role to Simmons here and again another spotlight match for the Steiners in hard hitting fashion.

Sting vs. Bill Ford (7/19/89)

Sting was TV champ when this match was taped and he cut an inset promo explaining what happened at the Bash regarding the title being vacant. Sting went way up in the crowd slapping hands with the fans which was cool. Sting ends up winning in about a minute with the Scorpion Deathlock.

Next we get a taped promo of Gary Hart holding the NWA World TV Title belt who said that it may be vacant but Muta will be the champion soon.

Flyin Brian Pillman vs. Keith Steinborn (7/19/89)

Pillman wins fairly quickly with his springboard clothesline off the top rope. Pillman dropkicking Steinborn off the top rope from a standing position in the ring was impressive.

Mike Rotundo then cuts a promo challenging Dr. Death to a scientific match where there will be no strikes only wrestling moves and Doc cuts a promo in retort but I think they played the wrong promo because Doc talks about a match that has happened already.

Ricky "The Dragon" Steamboat vs. Jim Powell (7/19/89)

This is Steamer's last match on TBS for over 2 years as his contract expired the day after this show aired and he left.

Then we get a taped promo from Luger talking about how he is the best in the world and he is pissed at Steamer for what happened at the Bash but he won't give him another title shot.

Norman the Lunatic & The Skyscrapers (Dangerous Danny Spivey & Sid Vicious) vs. The Party Patrol (Davey, Johnny, & Tommy Rich) (7/19/89)

Talk about your differences in teams. Tommy doesn't get treated like a jobber but his cousins do that's for sure. This went on for quite a while and the hot tag section with Tommy was fun but other than that this was a long squash match.

Then we get clips from the end of the Flair/Funk match at the Bash with a promo from Funk after the show to follow. Great stuff. Extra material.
