World Championship Wrestling 8/5/89

The Skyscrapers (Danny Spivey & Sid Vicious) vs. Bob Emory & George South (8/2/89)

Total squash for Spivey as he worked by himself since Sid just stood on the floor and watched.

Next we get a taped promo from Sting who was supposed to work Muta in a Dragon-Shi match at The Omni on 8/6 but it didn't happen.

Terry Funk & Gary Hart are out next for a promo on his match with Flair at The Omni on 8/6 with Funk wearing a tuxedo saying that he can beat Flair by himself and doesn't need Muta or Hart. Extra material.

Tommy "Wildfire" Rich vs. Trent Knight (8/2/89)

Knight gives Rich a fight here but Wildfire fights back and eventually hits the Thesz Press to get the win.

Lex Luger joins Jim Ross next talking about his upcoming match with Rick Steiner at the Omni on 8/6 and how he is the best US champ ever. Luger said that he beats anyone and everyone that comes his way and that he is the Mike Tyson of the NWA. Extra material.

The Road Warriors (Animal & Hawk) vs. Fred Avery & John Brewer (8/2/89)

The Roadies destroy these poor guys.

Next we get Michael Hayes in the Danger Zone talking about the War Games at The Omni on 8/6. Paul E. said that the other Birds and the SST are hanging out at the top of Freebird Mountain. Hayes is really good here.

Rick Steiner joins Ross next talking about how he bought tickets for the front row at The Omni and Ross said that he doesn't need them since he is wrestling. Ross tells him to give them to Robin Green but he doesn't spend that type of money on women. Steiner gives them to Ross which is funny. Extra material.

"Hot Stuff" Eddie Gilbert & Sting vs. The New Zealand Militia (Rip Morgan & Jack Victory) (8/2/89)

Gilbert looks good to start then Sting comes in and he takes it to the Militia even poor the water from their canteens on them. Gilbert eventually works as FIP before getting the hot tag to Sting who runs wild until J-Tex runs out attacking the faces until Flair made the save. Center Stage fucking exploded when Flair ran out as people were running down from their seats jumping and yelling. Then we get a group promo with them and Flair & Gilbert burying the hatchet as well as Flair dancing around in Funk's cowboy boots. Extra material.

World Championship Wrestling 8/12/89

Lex Luger comes out to start the show with Jim Ross talking about Tommy Rich who is the new top contender for his US Title saying that Rich was dug up from his dirt farm to come back. Hilarious.

Tommy "Wildfire" Rich vs. Lee Scott (8/2/89)

Competitive match which Rich ended up winning with the Thesz Press. Scott actually looked good here not bumping all over the place.

Jim Ross talks about how Johnny Ace suffered a broken cheekbone in a match against the Militia and we get cilps of the match from 8/1/89. This was done to explain them going to Japan.

The New Zealand Militia (Rip Morgan & Jacko Victory) vs. Mike Justice & George South (8/2/89)

Militia gets a good spotlight match here and they maul these guys especially Justice who got busted up pretty good.

Terry Funk & Gary Hart join Ross next talking about Flair ripping off his coat and stealing his boots the week before then danced around in them. Funk was hilarious here. Exstra material.

The Fabulous Freebirds (Jimmy "Jam" Garvin & Michael "PS" Hayes) vs. Bob Emory & Ray Lloyd (8/2/89)

The Birds are very dominant here and after the match Garvin talks shit on the Steiners and Hayes said that Terry Gordy is hanging at Freebird Mountain because they don't need his services to take care of the Steiners.

Then we get clips from Norman vs. Brian Pillman on 8/1/89 where Norman tries to injure Brian after Brian pinned him. Pillman then cuts a promo with Ross afterwards wanting a match with Norman.

Next we get The Danger Zone with Mike Rotundo and Paul E. is hilarious kissing Mike's ass as well as ripping up Dr. Death and the state of Oklahoma.

Teddy Long then comes out and said that Pillman can't get a match with Norman.

Sid Vicious vs. Steve Casey (8/2/89)

Sid just kills Casey with a clothesline in less than a minute.

The Midnight Express ("Beautiful" Bobby Eaton & "Sweet" Stan Lane) vs. Fred Avery & The Enforcer (8/2/89)

MX look awesome here and after the match Cornette talks about how all of the titles in the NWA especially the World Tag Titles which they are going to take from the Freebirds soon.

Paul E. then is with Ross talking about the war between the SST & Roadies and what is reality and what isn't. Good stuff.

Ron Simmons vs. John Brewer (8/2/89)

Brewer jumps Simmons at the bell and that's a mistake as Simmons manhandles him. Iron Sheik comes out during the match in Simmons' corner and they wave the Iranian flag after the match.

Sting is out next with Ross talking about wanting to get his NWA World TV Title back.

Rick & Scott Steiner vs. Bill Ford & Trent Knight (8/2/89)

Rick was more worried about hanging with Robin than finishing the match and let Scott beat these guys on his own while he ate M&M's. The Steiners then cut a promo on the Freebirds after the match about wanting the Freebirds and the NWA World Tag Titles.

Flyin Brian Pillman vs. The Bounty Hunter (8/2/89)

Pillman has the match going his way when Norman shows up with a board wanting a piece of Pillman who just dives from the ring to the floor on the Hunter when Norman walks off. Pillman then hits a reverse cross body block to get the win.

The Roadies are out next talking about all the teams they ran out of the NWA and that the SST is going to be next on the list because they are reality. Hawk talks about how much he likes tasting his own blood just imagine how much he likes the taste of others.

"Captain" Mike Rotundo vs. "Dr. Death" Steve Williams (8/2/89)

Doc comes out wearing amateur style headgear here as this is supposed to be a part of the Rotundo scientific challenge but Rotundo already broke the rules in their 1st match. This started out slow but it would pick up with Rotundo throwing Doc into the railing on the floor where it looked like he hurt himself legit on his wrist. Rotundo would then work over Doc who made a comeback setting up the Oklahoma Stampede where he would hit Tommy Young by mistake then threw Rotundo over the top rope while trying to save himself before Tommy Young would run over to Mike to raise his hand calling for the DQ. Rotundo would then post Doc then took his headgear off and beat him with it. Good for what it was.

Next we get a promo from Ric Flair wearing a great red blazer talking about the NWA and all the great wrestlers which he is putting over everyone as he is about to become the head booker. Flair talks about Funk and said that everything is going to go his way.

Ranger Ross vs. Keith Steinborn (8/2/89)

Another good win for Ranger using the Combat Kick to win.
