Posted August 1, 20169 yr comment_5761178 This was an interesting show because the 2nd hour of the show was on at the same exact time as Halloween Havoc was live on PPV. Gordon Solie & Jim Cornette worked as the announcers here since Ross was live in Philadelphia.Sting vs. Italian Stallion (10/17/89)They made the Cobb County Civic Center look like Center Stage which was a cool little touch. Stallion gives Sting a fight but Sting was so good at this time he couldn't overtake him. Sting eventually puts him away with the Scorpion Deathlock.Next we get clips of Luger/Pillman brawling from the week before. This is followed by a taped promo from Luger about his match with Pillman at Halloween Havoc where he said that preseason is over and this is the regular season now.Flyin Brian Pillman vs. Pat Rose (10/17/89)Pat Rose making his return to TBS after 5 years and he gives Pillman good fight. Pillman though would bounce back and overcame Rose with Air Pillman to win."Dr. Death" Steve Williams vs. Joe Cruz (10/17/89)Doc wins easily with the Oklahoma Stampede.Flair, Sting, & Ole join Gordon next for a promo talking about Halloween Havoc and the Thunderdome Cage match. Ole lost his voice and sounds all gravely.Rick & Scott Steiner vs. Agent Steel & Ricky Nelson (10/17/89)Steiners totally manhandle these guys. Then we get a taped promo from Woman talking about how Doom & Kevin Sullivan are going to help her take over the world. She said that she has lots more money where that came from to help cripple the Steiners.Next they go live to Jim Ross in PhiladelphiaThen we get a promo from Dr. Death talking about his match at Halloween Havoc and coming for the Skyscrapers.Norman the Lunatic vs. Lee Scott (10/17/89)Norman totally squashes Scott. The Skyscrapers (Danny Spivey & Sid Vicious) vs. Mark Kyle & George South (10/17/89)This doesn't even go a minute as this is a killjob. We go back to Jim Ross live in Philadelphia which he calls this show the "Super Bowl" for the wrestlers.Terry Funk then has a taped promo next telling people to order Havoc so they can watch the end of Ric Flair's career. This is good stuff and extra material. The Z-Man vs. Thad Clark (10/17/89)Z-Man continues his hot streak using the Sleeper.Samoan Savage vs. Jake Steel (10/17/89)Humperdink is back managing the returning Savage with Humpy now being called the Big Kahuna. Humpy cuts an inset promo saying that he is bringing them back to their animal roots. Savage wins in seconds. The New Zealand Militia (Rip Morgan & Jack Victory) vs. Chris Powers & Richard Sartain (10/17/89)The Militia look strong here marching to victory. After the match, Solie asked Jim Cornette how did he book the Dynamic Dudes vs. The Midnight Express which sees Bobby & Stan come out saying that they wanted this match because they were tired of Cornette hanging with the Dudes so much. Cornette then gets in Stan's face then the Dudes show up for a verbal battle. There is some really great story telling going on in this feud. This is a definite extra. The Samoan Swat Team (Fatu & Samu) vs. Greg Evans & Scott Hall (10/17/89)Hall is now a full force jobber now and the SST destroy these guys since Humpy has gotten them back to their roots. The Midnight Express ("Beautiful" Bobby Eaton & "Sweet" Stan Lane) vs. Trent Knight & Gene Ligon (10/17/89)Lane does the intro here for the team since they are pissed at Cornette. MX are on fire here as they were pissed and Cornette on commentary doesn't know what corner he is going to be in at the Clash. The Road Warriors (Animal & Hawk) vs. Rick Connors & Bill Ford (10/17/89)Total destruction.Next we get a promo from Michael Hayes talking about the Roadies challenging them for a shot at the NWA World Tag Titles with Hayes saying that the belts are safe with the Birds. The Fabulous Freebirds (Jimmy "Jam" Garvin & Michael "PS" Hayes) vs. Tommy Angel & Johnny Kennedy (10/17/89)Garvin & Hayes look dominant here with Hayes getting the DDT on Kennedy to win.Ranger Ross vs. Rusty Riddle (10/17/89)As the match is about to start, we get an inset promo from Cuban Assassin talking about his flag match with Ranger Ross next week on TV. Ross wins quickly with the Combat Kick.
