Posted August 7, 20169 yr comment_5761865 Kris Zellner is joined by John McAdam to discuss the career of one “Hacksaw” Butch Reed. We examine his beginnings going the territories and how good he got in such a short time span. We talk about his battles with all the major stars of his era and his amazing run in Mid-South. Lots of great tales about the angles and matches that shaped his career so check it out!!!! The PWO-PTBN Podcast Network features great shows you can find right here at Place to Be Nation. August 7, 20169 yr comment_5761866 Definitely looking forward to this one. Butch Reed is one of those guys that doesn't really get credit for how great he was since his best work came in Mid-South and not in WWF or WCW. At least the Mid-South 80s set helped to raise his profile because before that I'd never even really heard him talked about outside of the Doom tag team.
August 8, 20169 yr comment_5761985 As a Central Missouri graduate, I don't think Butch Reed has a statue on campus yet.
August 8, 20169 yr comment_5762021 The story about Reed and Nord fighting backstage was in Watts' book too. Great episode, and as mentoned it's nice to have a profile like this before someone's passing.
August 8, 20169 yr comment_5762103 Awesome episode! I actually just recently got and watched a Butch Reed set and it fucking rocked so this was a phenomenally timed companion piece. Kris Zellner for President.
August 10, 20169 yr comment_5762392 Tremendous show. I'm definitely going to seek out some of that Butch Reed and Buddy Landel stuff now.
August 14, 20169 yr comment_5763339 I just started listening to your podcasts over the past month and once again, thumbs up for an excellent episode. My only real exposure to Butch Reed was as a member of Doom around the time I began watching wrestling but after listening to this episode, it has me wishing that he had a run as NWA champ.
August 18, 20169 yr comment_5763842 Doom gets alot more appreciation event in WWE mainly because of JBL's commentary. The first NWA tape i saw was Starcade '89 so I got to see Doom a couple of times on thats show, He was a joke in in WWE kinda the 80's equivalent too 2 Cold Scorpios WWE run, although I did see a match vs Tito Santana at the Houston summit show up on WWE Classic afew years ago I really dug. I love his squash matches when he first came.
