So far, the XBox360 doesn't really impress me graphically and I hae not seen one game that is released that makes me go "I gotta play that ASAP".

For the Revolution, that wacky controller may make or break my decision to pick it up.

I haven't heard much from the PS3 camp.

With that said, I think I will wait at least a year after all systems are out to make my choice. At that point, I am hoping there will be enough games released on each system to know which one has the best quality. I am also a cheap ass and don't think I have ever picked up a system for full price.

I'll definitely be targeting the PS3. It's backward compatible all the way through the Playstation 1, which pretty much sealed the deal for me.

But that "boomerang" controller doesn't look comfortable to hold at all. Still, I had a PS1 and a PS2, so the next logical step would be PS3. You don't need a hard drive for it to be backward compatible like XBox, right?

I'm also going to wait a bit until actually buying a system. I've still got a bunch of PS2 games I've missed over the years to play.

If any, it'll be awhile. They're all too expensive for me. However, after time, competition and price drops, if I had to choose between the three? Man, I don't know. I think it'd come down to what titles were available. Kinda like what Goodhelmet was saying.

Right now, Saint's Row looks fun. I'm interesting in trying the Revolution controller too. On-line compatibility doesn't matter too much to me...however the Revolution offering the entire NES and SNES library probably has me leaning towards it.

The PS3 looks like it will require less pricey accessories and it's launch games line up should be strong enough to win me over.

I don't know yet. I'm going to wait a year or so to see how they all do. If the X360 can be turned into a computer though like its predecessor, that's where I'm going.

For me its going to depend on the titles really. I think I'm gonna wait and see, however, I'm honestly not interested in the slightest for X360. So I think it'll be between re-upping with PS3 (which I think I might), or going with Rev (which is tempting me sorely).

At this point, I'd probably go with PS3, but ask me again when we've got lineups to compare because this will likely change.

I've already got the Xbox 360. DOA 4 and Perfect Dark Zero are worthwhile purchases for the new system. As far as the other two are concerned, the PS3 might be purchased once MGS 4 and the next Gran Turismo game are out. The only thing there is that I get this bad Betamax vibe from the Blu-ray format. Picking up the Revolution might depend on the games. If they had something that could make use of the controller right off the bat, maybe an awesome fishing game, I'd be more likely to get one.

All 3. PS3 will probably have the good fighting games and most of my favorite major franchises, 360 will have the rest and Revolution will have the occasional 1st party must have.

I read an article that said the controller has a weird shape because of what it will be able to do. Apparently (i don't remember if it said gyros or what) they'll have some type of way to read the position of the controller and that it will be wirelss. Using the axis of the controller will be a new way to play games for sure and I give sony props but like you said, it looks weird.

I just read an article today saying sony will be losing almost $200 per console when they begin to sell it (article said sometime around Nov 06, though reported by sony to be spring 06). Interesting....I'll look for the article.

I'm leaning towards the PS3, but it may change if the quality of the games on the 360 picks up or if the Revolution completely overwhelms me.

Damn, you must be a serious gamer!!!

Serious gamers own all the important systems:

PC

PS3

Revolution

DS/GBA

...until PSP and XBox360 even get something I want on them, I ain't including them.

Almost every PC game I want eventually comes out for console. I don't like portable gaming.

I've had a PSP for 3 months now and I still haven't found a 3rd game (I own Metal Gear Acid and Lumines) that's worth my time. It's a nice little gadget but I'm regretting the purchase at this point.

Plus the battery life sucks and gets barely more than 3 hours.

The PSP can emulate almost everything on it and Gradius Portable (arcade ports of 1-4 + Gaiden) is coming out soon. You would be a serious hardcore gamer if you had 2 PSPs, one with the latest flash upgrade and the other for "homebrew".

Here was my choice of putting my money into something:

IPod or PSP.

Can you guess what I bought?

...seriously though, PSP has nothing that even holds my interest. Its like the 360. All flash and no substence.

You can get some homebrew software on the PSP that will let you jump between versions 1.5 (perfect for homebrew emulators) and 2.0 (current standard for new releases).

The main reason I found out about this was that I was tired of buying games like GTA: Liberty City Stories and the Midway Arcade Treasures pack only to find out that I'd have to upgrade from 1.5 and lose my ability to play old Genesis and Nintendo games.

I agree that most PSP games tend to be underwhelming (see "Twisted Metal Head-On" and "Archer MacLean's Mercury" for example).

However, I find that some of the old arcade games I play from Namco Museum and Midway Arcade Treasures lend themselves well to the PSP because of the "sleep" function.

For example, I can start a game of "Xybots" on the Midway pack and continue it, off and on for a week, quitting when I get to level 40 or so... I don't have that kind of patience when playing it on a PS2, as I'd play for about 10-20 minutes then jump to another game.

I forsee doing the same thing with Gunsmoke when I pick up the Capcom pack in the next few months.

The thing that most pisses me off about the PSP is that I can't keep the face of it clean at all. I had finger prints all over the damned thing just pulling it out of the box when I got it.

I also find that the added features aren't that great. Going online is kind of nice but it's sad that I use it more as a portable e-mail checker than I do for games. I haven't really bothered with the firmware stuff.

The game selection is pathetic though. The systems been out for a year and there's still nothing. There's a couple of ok looking RPGs but you'd have a better chance of finding Big Foot as barely anyone carries the games. There's a lot of rehashes of games like MediEvil that haven't aged well at all.

The battery life is also a complete disgrace. You're looking at 3-4 hours of battery life. I've been looking for a stronger battery but I don't feel like dropping another $50 into the system just to make it portable.

It reminds me a lot of the Game Gear. A lot of technology before the battery life is there. Honestly my DS sees a lot more play and I find myself interested in more games. That system already has a handful of must buys while the PSP has nothing.
