One of my biggest pet peeves in Pro Wrestling fandom right now is how so many “news” sites have taken to listening to podcasts and then reporting what they hear as “news” items.

How the fuck is Freddie Prinze Jr.’s take on Smackdown, or Booker T’s opinion on Kenny Omega leaving AEW actual NEWS? Seriously, who gives a shit what they think? If I wanted to know what guys like them thought about anything, I’d listen to their podcasts. And considering the Pro Wrestling podcast rankings, it looks like nobody does.

On the rare occasion that somebody actually notable like JR or Dax Harwood or Jeff Jarrett actually say something newsworthy or controversial on their podcasts, these sites either misquote them, take the quote out of context or just use it as clickbait.

I know the bar is already incredibly low in the field of Pro Wrestling “journalism” but even still, this is a new low.

I don't think that it's out of the realm of possibility that WWE could get FTR/The Revival back as well. Aren't their contracts up soon?

Dax has heavily implied on his podcast that if Vince is involved with WWE, they’re not going back. For good reason too, because Vince clearly didn’t see anything in them at all. I forget which episode it was specifically, but he recently talked about their run on the Main Roster in WWE and it sounded like a total shit show.

The threat of them going back makes a great bargaining chip, but I don’t know if it would happen. At the very least I think FTR is going to see what happens with the sale of WWE first.

I remember right around September 11th, Ja Rule was on MTV. That's what they said: "We got Ja Rule on the phone. Let's see what Ja's thoughts are on this tragic situation."

Who gives a fuck about what Ja Rule thinks in a time like this?

Haven't seen any discussion of the Mutoh retirement show. NOAH production is awesome. The entire Mutoh segment from pre-match video to post match speeches was a delight. Even the match itself was pretty solid considering Mutoh can't walk. Kongo vs AJPW was rad, Okada vs Kiyomiya was the hateful fight I had hoped for. Need a part 2 in NJ rings with Kiyomiya being an absolute menace.

Okada/Kiyomiya is my current MOTY. Everyone should check it out even if you're not a fan of either guy (or you haven't even heard of the second guy).

Anyway, speaking of long heel title reigns, Bischoff finally came clean about the finish to Starrcade 1997. He admitted Hogan exercised creative control and it had nothing to do with Sting not being tan enough or whatever.

Also, Kevin Nash saying "You can't give a wrestler creative control" may be the height of comedy.

Bischoff has admitted as much on his podcast, saying it was due to Sting's pill addiction at the time  The reason he went with the infamous "not tanned" line was because Sting hadn't yet talked about his drug issues publicly.

This is the first that I'm hearing about the pills. I didn't buy the tan story to begin with & honestly, I don't ever really trust anything that Bischoff ever says. If you've ever listened to his podcast, man, that dude can definitely go on some off-the-rails tangents.

The thing is, even with the pill story, or the Hogan creative control, like what else could you have done other than pay off the year plus long build? The fact that they still didn't go through with it, and had all the bells & whistles... even before the Bret Hart stuff or the ref fast count (or not fast count), Hogan got WAY too much in that match. It should have been a squash match. Like Hogan goes for some shit, Sting no sells it. Irish Whip, Stinger Splash, Scorpion Death Drop, Scorpion Deathlock, Hogan taps. Then if you need to get out of it later, you can do so on Nitro or whatever. Just monumentally disastrous for WCW. Even more so than the Halloween Havoc Pay-Per-View that cut off during the Diamond Dallas Page Vs. Bill Goldberg World Title match.

Sting could have just said he didn't need the title & relinquish to back to WCW or whatever if they needed to get it off him. His whole goal/story was to conquer Hogan & the nWo anyway. Once Sting joined the Wolfpac & started painting his face red, he was doneski.

I didn't feel like it was anything special. More like a glorified squash match. I thought that Hiromu/Amakusa was better.

Hogan dominated the rematch, too. It was also the same for the Lex title swaps in 1997. And DDP. The only guys Hogan sold for during that period were Piper and Jay Leno.

With them not showing up in the Casino battle royal tonight, this is looking more and more likely.

Especially after this past week with the Observer awards, where AEW's social media shared congratulations to all the winners - except for FTR - including congratulating only the Briscoes for winning Feud of the Year.

Their contracts are up next month. Dax says now that they told AEW they would work until then but thinks they're not very happy with them.

Funny thing is that it's not like drug use would have been a disqualifying factor in 1997 WCW unless it got to Scott Hall levels of bad.

Until I was 22 years old, I had no idea what pro wrestling was. For some reason, we didn’t get it on our local TV stations.

Sting has always said this, but it just doesn't add up. Not only did pro wrestling air in southern California, the territory was in the middle of a boom period when Sting was an adolescent. It'd be like if Mick Foley said wrestling wasn't on TV in New York when he was growing up.
