I am so over Mike Awesome matches right now. They just never seem to really dictate. After some back and forth and maybe even a bit of surprising offense from the challenger de jour, Awesome takes over and rolls through his routine including an Awesome Bomb through a table in the ring. That may please each local yokel that came to these shows, but it leaves me hollow almost every time. **1/2

What will really be awesome is when Mike Awesome leaves ECW so we can safely ignore him for the most part. Two more months! The ultimate "get your shit in" wrestler, even if some of his shit is gymnastically impressive and can result in occasional good matches with the right opponent. In this case, Little Guido can be that guy to an extent and at least knows how to put him over strong. Nothing we haven't seen before. Probably something we'll try to avoid seeing again.

Awesome looks totally not mentally there when Guido is on offense. He looks actively bored like he's trying to remember what groceries he needs to get after the show. I had never seen these two against each other before and was curious how they'd work it but this wasn't anything special. I kind of wish Guido would have actually controlled more, though he did look good taking Awesome's big offense. Highlight of the match is Sal talking into the camera at ringside. At least Awesome has a nice powerbomb.

It’s been a while since I saw their match from Orlando on 1/29, but when I compared what I wrote for this to what happened then, they look pretty much the same. Guido again jumps on Awesome’s back to start after Sal squares up to him, overhead belly to belly, bit of action on the floor with Sal squashing Awesome against the barricade, Guido with the straight armbar, chokebomb, Awesomebomb through the table at the second attempt for the win.

An extended squash, although it felt like Guido got slightly more offense in this time around. I don’t know if it was due to the fancam zooming in on occasions, but first time I’ve noticed what comical facial expressions Awesome has. Guido was my second favourite ECW performer after Tajiri for January so would ideally like to see him kept away from guys like Awesome in the future (not that he’s bad against them or anything). As per the January match, for what it was, this was fine.

It's Mike Awesome against a little guy. What more is there to know? You could storyboard the match.

Guido bumps well. But we already knew that. I like Sal's involvement, especially his talking to the camera. I also like the facility and the camera work. This is a far cry from the crappy ballroom we saw in January. It just looks better for a show, and I can easily follow the action.
