KENTA had a classic vs. Austin Aries' tag partner Roderick Strong the night before & here he went and delivered another classic. The strikes were great, the flow was great, this was just great. I loved how Aries in the beginning tried to keep things on mat so KENTA couldn't deliver those well established deadly strikes of his - and when KENTA eventually did blast Aries with those kicks, my goodness. This had it all - great transitions, great strikes, great sense of urgency, amazing crowd heat & no dull moments. ****1/2

Just an athletic Jr. weight match that is so damn stiff at just the right times. And the crowd is electric and both guys just eat it up. This is a proper match with a great heated American crowd full of fans. Nice build-up, great reactions, beautiful execution; just an awesome match. A semi-forgotten classic. ****1/2

Really enjoyed this! This is just a proper ROH-style main event that they did so well in the mid-00s. The strikes looked and sounded great, of course. KENTA's kicks are legendary. There was a great sense of heat from both guys too even though there was no real storyline going into this (that I'm aware of). Just the way the action had to escalate and both guys really had to bring it. Just really great stuff that was paced nicely and executed crisply.

This was a solid match. I thought it would be more workrate heavy, but there was a nice internal logic to it and they built to the finish with a sense of clarity. As others have mentioned, the execution and crowd heat were strong positives in its favor. I can see why it's overlooked as they didn't ratchet up the selling or near falls towards the end, but not every match needs to be an epic.
