Posted February 11, 200619 yr comment_4487400 I read this story about Netflix basically penalizing its best customers, and I realized it's happening to me too. All my DVDs from them used to come with Pittsburgh on the return envelope, and now they all seem to go to California or Washington State. I even had one that had Hawaii as the return address that hasn't been recieved yet almost 10 days after I mailed it back.
February 11, 200619 yr comment_4487467 The best way to counter that is to stuff 2 discs in the same envelope if you notice they have different return addresses. I know one of the return stations for Netflix is in Austin. I can always obtain that address and dump the three movies in an envelope to send to Austin regardless of where the return envelope is.
February 11, 200619 yr Author comment_4488947 That's what I usually do if I can. but they keep sending me discs with addresses farther and farther away. I swear, if they have a return station in Guam, I'm going to be getting envelopes for it.
February 16, 200619 yr Author comment_4519405 What's funny is that there was a class action suit filed about this, and I got an email about the settlement details. All it offers you is a one month free upgrade (5 at a time if you're currently getting 4, for example) and if you don't notify them before the month is up, you get automatically billed for the upgrade the next month. Also, Netflix updated their TOS to specify that they puroposely hold back DVDs from their biggest customers and delay their turnaround times. All while still advertising "One Day Delivery!" on all their ads. So basically they not only don't admit any wrongdoing, they put it in writing that they aren't going to live up to their promise and make you pay for your settlement reward. Your legal system at work, gotta love it.
