1. You're stuck inside Fahrenheit 451, which book do you want to be?

'say cheese and die!' by r.l. stine.

i really don't know why i picked that, but it stands.

2. Have you ever had a crush on a fictional character?

in a book? no.

3. What's the last book you bought?

one of the joys of greenwich village is that there's a bunch of guys who set up used-book stands by the park whenever it's sunny. this results in some kind of impulse buy almost every single time i walk by the park (which is really bad, cause it's on the way to the diner where i eat breakfast everyday). so i've got a ton of $3 paperbacks that i don't even have time to read. i think the last cluster of books i bought was faulkner's 'the hamlet', joyce's 'a portrait of the artist as a young man', and some criticism anthology called 'the american novel since world war II'. i haven't read past page 3 in any of them.

EDIT: and true to form, i was walking by today and ended up getting the complete works of shakespeare. it was nine dollars. possibly the greatest purchasing decision i've ever made.

4. What's the last book you read?

shakespeare's 'hamlet', over spring break.

5. What are you currently reading?

bits & pieces of a lot of film theory/criticism books.

david bordwell, 'making meaning'

siegfried kracauer, 'theory of film'

david bordwell & noel carroll, 'post-theory'

6. What are your five desert island picks?

bible

james joyce, 'ulysses'

martin hiedegger, 'being and time'

bill watterson, 'the essential calvin & hobbes'

complete works of shakespeare, if i can cheat a little

1. You're stuck inside Fahrenheit 451, which book do you want to be?

I dunno if I understand this? Name a book that I hate? If so, Jane Eyre.

2. Have you ever had a crush on a fictional character?

Not from a novel, but there are some hot comic books chicks out there.

Wow, I feel so pathetic right now.

3. What's the last book you bought? Shadow Puppets, by Orson Scott Card. This was like, I dunno, a year or two ago or something?

4. What's the last book you read? Shadow Puppets. It was weird, because I bought it, and wasn't really interested enough to read it (it's a book in a series though, so I had to, you know?) so I put it away for a while. Then I heard the new book was coming out, so I re-read the entire series, but this time, I understood some of the books a lot better, so I was much more into it.

5. What are you currently reading? Right now, nothing. However, I'm going to borrow the Christ Clone trilogy from a friend of mine soon; I dunno what the actual titles of the books are, but he says they're really good for an End-of-the-World series, and I'll take his word for it.

6. What are your five desert island picks?

Ender's Game - Orson Scott Card

Speaker for the Dead - Orson Scott Card

Starship Troopers - Robert A. Heinlein

Have A Nice Day! - Mick Foley

The Lord of the Rings - J.R.R. Tolkien (I own this as one single volume, so it counts; however, I've never actually read all of it, and I'm sure being stranded would give me the time to do that.)
