Terrible fucking match. The two main events were both really disappointing.

Crowd is surprisingly dead for the main event.

They are emotionally drained after the big Enzo victory.

Main event fell really flat. I thought Brock would win but just didn't feel special at all.

So this is the Brock formula. Get the challenger super hot and then make them look like an absolute bitch when the match rolls around.

Brock doesn't feel special anymore because he's lumbering dead weight. I can't think of someone more useless and overpaid.

Huge let down of a main event. That was awesome for about two minutes. Roman now gets to do what he should've done three years earlier and beat Brock at Mania yay. I liked the women title match more than the two big 'Mania" matches. Tag title match was MOTN.

Really weird that after the matches Braun had with Show, Reigns and his performance at Summerslam, they went with the tamest possible match imaginable for his encounter with Brock.

He went down to a single F5 too. This was the worst possible thing they could have done to him. He just looked like any other asshole in there.

The horrible thing is he may never get back to where he was heading into tonight. I hope that's not the case, but you can't count on it.

Oh I can think of much worse things done to him. At least Braun dominated most of the match. I am sure Samoa Joe would have loved to have the match set up that way

 

Not only do you really have nothing for Brock until Wrestlemania, you really don't have much for Braun now. I mean a feud with Joe? Based on the ending of Cena vs Reigns no feud with John until maybe Royal Rumble time?

I'm guessing Brock disappears until the Rumble.

 

No idea what they do with Braun. They kind of just destroyed him.

That match felt designed to cool off Braun's overness. Don't think they have any plans for him except maybe giving Roman his win back as well.

Mania is a long way away and they have absolutely nothing to get there. We're in for a rough ride until the Rumble.

I agree that it's been time for a while now to start preparing for a post-Cena landscape in WWE, but I don't get this desire from WWE to seemingly push him out before his time. Cena has gone along with it, but I can't figure out if it was that he started looking for outside work as a response to that, or if they started building up Reigns as a response to him getting older and starting to get outside offers. Either way, they were presenting him as "old" when he was still in his 30s, and the story with Reigns is something you'd think they'd be able to tell over multiple matches spanning 2-3 years. Reigns won the first match. I don't see the intrigue in them having another match since we've already gotten the payoff. This Wrestlemania will be the culmination of a three-year push for the guy having gotten big wins over every single person they can offer up with Brock being the only program with the payoff not given immediately. And that would have happened sooner if it wasn't for a change in plans.

 

Brock-Braun is why non-finishes exist. Matches just like this. There was zero reason for either guy lose at this point, so I don't get that at all. This is another match that shouldn't really be one-and-done.

 

I like Reigns a lot and think he has absolutely proven that he belongs at the main event level, but I don't think he's salvageable at this point as the number one guy. I don't see any better options sadly, but they've made everyone hate him in a way that I don't see how there's any coming back. That they've stuck by him so long in spite of the crowd reactions and wellness violation and that he retired Undertaker and all of that -- it's hard to figure out what exactly they're going for. With Cena, it made sense because you could at least see how they were outwardly and intentionally booking him as a babyface for kids and women and a heel for their hardcore audience, doing things to get him over in dual roles. Cena was a moneymaker, and it clicked. With Reigns, it comes across more as Vince in a battle with his fanbase for the soul of the company, and it's uncomfortable.

LOL at all the rumors about "just wait" and circulating two scripts for the show just for that.

 

Don't agree that another Goldberg flash finish was the best route, but everything about the match negated Strowman's aura. Massive let down for all the great build they had going in. They could have booked Braun to get DQ'd and destroy shit and everyone would've been happy ("tables" chants).
