Posted September 30, 20177 yr comment_5815557 Not sure how to better title this thread but it'll do. Tomorrow begins October which has always been my favorite month and Halloween my favorite holiday. I usually reserve the month for various horror films and TV shows. I also thought it'd be a fun topic to wonder what wrestling matches, moments and promos that would fit the mood? I figured various matches from Halloween Havoc would fit such as Steiners vs Doom, Steiners vs Nasty Boys, Chambers of Horror Match, Vader vs Cactus Jack, the debut of the Yeti, Eddy vs Rey, etc. The first thing that came to mind was the Undertaker vs Shawn Michaels Hell in a Cell match from IYH: Badd Blood.
October 1, 20177 yr Author comment_5815583 Oh yeah! Freddy from Memphis would definitely need to be included with the awesome music video and hilarious match against Buddy Landel. I would also include various Doug Gilbert Freddy matches from W*ING.
October 1, 20177 yr comment_5815608 Ambrose and Cesaro had a Trick or Streetfight a couple years back on Smackdown. It was pretty good and had the usual comedy props to boot.
October 1, 20177 yr Author comment_5815618 That was a lot of fun! Another for me is Undertaker vs Mankind Buried Alive Match which was always my favorite bout of theirs.
October 9, 20177 yr comment_5816276 Going to do an episode of We Don't Know Wrestling on this topic actually, decided it before I saw the thread. So I'm open to suggestions! Like with horror I think there are a bevvy of different ways wrestling can convey HALLOWEEN. Halloween Havoc is a bit on the nose but I think certain matches really strike the Halloween vibe like DDP vs. Savage and Vader vs. Cactus Jack. I actually think Eddie vs. Rey is sort of a bad "halloween" match in the sense that it doesn't touch on any of its central themes. Feel free to tell me why I might be inaccurate. The Monster Mash match is something I unironically enjoy. Deathmatches can fit in the way movies like Saw and other gory movies fit. Some are more tasteful than others. I do not think Onita deathmatches really align with Halloween. Feels more like a Rocky movie. Buried Alive matches in general seem to work to get in the spirit. Casket matches. Fenix vs. Mil Muertes is such a good Halloween match the more I think about it!

It does have Rey dressed up as The Phantom before we were used to him doing such things.

October 9, 20177 yr comment_5816286 The Dungeon of Doom fit the old campy horror aesthetic well. Well, at least The Yeti and Braun the Leprechaun are the stuff of nightmares anyway.
October 10, 20177 yr comment_5816358 The Chikara-like ATTACK group in the UK does an annual late October show called GooseBumps with a heavy horror movie influence:
October 10, 20177 yr comment_5816360 There was a Smackdown, I want to say in 2002 that was Halloween themed with lots of fun stuff. All the backstage vignettes are at a fancy dress party which is pretty interesting for the fact that John Cena is dressed as Vanilla Ice, and I think it's the first on air appearance of his rapper gimmick. There's also a brilliant part where Matt Hardy in full V1.0 mood comes into the party playing his own entrance music on a stereo over his shoulder. In terms of matches, it's during the Smackdown Six era, so you get some fun stuff involving the Guerrero's, Edge, Angle and Benoit and there's also a pretty fun Matt Hardy/Tajiri match. The main event is Lesnar vs Mysterio in a match that only goes about 3/4 mins or so, but during that time is amazing and makes you want (or did if they were still in the condition they were in 2002) a longer match between them. Given it's 2002, you get a very much pre 'Women's Revolution' chocolate pudding bowl match between Torrie Wilson and Dawn Marie, while it also features the bizarre segment where Steph and Bischoff make out which I don't think ever went anywhere(?). Anyway, something fun for everyone to enjoy!
October 10, 20177 yr comment_5816370 Any of the Grave Consequences matches from Lucha Underground. If you only have time for one then watch the first one, but all three of them are fantastic.

October 26, 20177 yr comment_5817899 When Warrior died I thought it'd be funny for that Halloween for some Indy wrestler to take on the gimmick of "Zombie Warrior", he comes out to the music but is at a normal walking pace.
October 26, 20177 yr comment_5817901 IWA Japan had Jason, Freddy Kruegger, Leatherface, all in matches, against each other.
