I ran into the mother of a friend of mine at the grocery store today. She was telling me that her two adopted kids (who are brother and sister) found out they had a half-brother from their birth mom's side, and recently tracked him down and were starting to get to know him. This was great news, since there was issues with the brother and sister being abused and connecting with a sane member of their biological family could have gone a long way in repairing some of the damage that was done, especially to the girl.

 

I found out today that the birthday party next weekend for my friend's 2 year old might get rescheduled because the adopted kids' half brother was killed in Iraq.

 

Damn.
