Two things I've been wondering about:

 

1. Who the fuck is making those theme songs? Most of them sound exactly alike and they sound like shit. It's like everyone got a worse version of Steve Blackman's theme.
2. Does Tucker Knight being featured in the Rumble mean that they se a bright future in him? I hope that also means they see something in Otis.

It means they see his future as a trainer if they are willing to bring him in for that tryout thing they did at the show. Although Dan Matha was always a trainer in that thing and he makes Big Cass look like Okada in the ring

 

Imagine losing the remaining $80 million or whatever it is in this deal off of that awful endless video that we are going to see 20 more times in the next month or two

Yeah, I think it was just a case of him being there for the tryout thing. I hope they see something in Dozer because he is the best.

I love Lashley either way, but I think when they eventually turn him heel, those that are down on him now will turn around on him similar to Batista's 2010 heel run. Personally would love to see Lashley/Lesnar though. I'm sick of Braun, we already saw him and Lesnar and it wasn't good.

Some of the NXT/205/ guys i'm less familiar with had some really weird sounding ones that I would never recognize.

I was working yesterday and I work 12 hour shifts, so I missed the entire show live. I recorded it on my DVR, and was planning on watching it later. I was originally going to avoid spoilers, but I decided against that approach and checked out this thread. Based on the general opinions expressed in this thread (about the quality of the wrestling) I may give this show a pass. Sounds like the only good things I missed were Jinder Mahal taking a phantom bump and Titus deciding to try and slide into home plate, both of which are available in handy gif form.

 

Having checked this thread out, (and sadly...Twitter) I have to say I was mildly surprised at the level of moral outrage over this show. Some of you people sure do care a lot about...stuff. (Well, you care enough to complain about it on the internet at least.) I'm probably older than a lot of people here, and as a result I have probably become jaded. I personally don't really care all that much where they run shows, and obviously all Vince McMahon and WWE care about is money - so of course they had no issue doing this show. It made them a lot of money. I'm trying to come up with an example of a time Vince or his company did something "good" that wasn't about making money or portraying a positive public image for their company, and I can't think of one.

 

If the whole Moolah/Snickers debacle taught anybody anything, it's that if you can figure out a way to hit him in his wallet, he'll start caring about the "issue" very quickly. Otherwise, all the outrage seems to be wasted energy to me...but what do I know? If getting morally outraged over stuff like this makes you feel good, do your thing.

So, I'm just now watching this thing with some friends and those sheiks just standing around with no thought or care that people are sitting behind them trying to see annoys the fuck out of me. And this is just the first match. Gonna be a long night.

This was a pretty decent house show.

I was not following that closely (only really watching the PPV's and bits and pieces of RAW or SD depending on the week, but never an entire weekly show anyway), but last night's show really left a sour taste in my mouth. Last time I gave them money was in the previous millenium anyway, but to me, as I'm only interested in watching their really good matches (the booking itself is rotten and the format is unwatchable to me), I may actually be done for a while once again. There's more pro-wrestling out there that an entire lifetime wouldn't be enough. This whole show just felt really dirty to me (not to mention it was a pretty awful show to boot), there's a feeling I'm not yet able to shake off... (well, of course, the McMahons being Trump supporters should be enough to not give them a cent or a minute of my life anyway to be honest)

 

I'm right there with you. I've been, at best, a fair-weather WWE fan since 2004. I generally tune in for RumbleMania and bow out after the post-mania RAW. I think I hung on a little too long this time. I've definitely got a bad taste in my mouth now. There are several potentially good things going on in WWE right now (e.g. Asuka, Bryan, Rusev Day, Styles, Andrade “Cien” Almas, Nia Jax working as a monster face... Hiroki Sumi...) but WWE itself is just not anywhere close to my idea of "good" any more.

 

In a way, I think I'm kind of lucky that WM and GRR were such a chore to sit through. I got a few nice pops out of it (Asuka and Nak's Rumble wins, Bryan's return, Rousey's good match, Asuka vs Flair, the hot tag from Shane to Bryan...) and now I can happily ignore almost everything that happens (barring maybe an interesting Bryan or Asuka match that I hear about on these boards) until the Rumble next year.

In some ways, it's very difficult to separate WWE's decision to do the show from discussion of the show itself. That said, I kindly ask everyone to think about their posts ahead of time to make sure that they are directly relevant to WWE and their decisions as a company, or something about the venue and setting itself, instead of just making posts to provide political commentary.

I loved that AJ/ Nak match.

Of everyone on the roster AJ and Nak are my guys. AJ from the first time I saw him on NWA Wildside in 2000 and Nak since I first saw him in WWE.

 

I really enjoyed the closing stretch of the match. But I really think the whole thing should had been a giant attitude era brawl.

Yeah confirmed, it's the week after the Grand Final in October.

 

MCG holds 100,000 for sport. They won't get that many, but I'd say shoot for 60-70 maybe.
