As I recall, Doug Gilbert was fired pretty much as soon as he walked out of camera range and Jerry Lawler had to beg the station not to cancel their program for having a guy talk about smoking crack and raping 13 year olds on what I believe was still a Saturday morning TV show.

 

Of course, wrestling being as carny as it is, Doug was back working with Lawler (and Brian Christopher) as late as 2003.

I remember reading about this match in PWI. Those guys must have felt like they were wrestling in an oven.

Yeah, the Sheik suffered really horrible burns on that one.

 

How old would the Sheik be in 92? He'd have to be in his late 60s/early 70s I think.

I *think* Sheik was 78 when he died in January 2003, but I could be wrong. But yeah, I think he wrestled into his 70s. He was still on FMW shows into 1995/6, wasn't he?

Looking it up he would've been 66 for that match.

Sheik wrestled a match in ECW in 1994, at the age of 68. I'm sure he was in a few even after that.
