For the most part, this felt like a total BJJ exhibition bout. And I loved every second of it. Some very nice storytelling with Garrini completely owning Thatcher on the mat, which lead to him getting too cocky & making fun of Thatcher's Ringkampf pose, which then lead to Thatcher going mental on him w/ those strikes & that beautiful Butterfly Suplex. Wonderful match. ****

This was one of the matches I was looking forward to the most from WM weekend and a singles match I've been wanting to see ever since that tag match they had earlier this year where these two got some brief exchanges with each other. From a grappling technical standpoint -- this is by far the best match from the weekend as it's a faux ADCC match. Some real quality exchanges between them. Garrini's sweep into the mount was, Thatcher punching Garrini's kidnies to get out of half gaurd, Thatcher's awareness to go for the half crab, Garrini's semi cartwheel into side mount and Garrini's Mighty Mouse-esque suplex-to-armbar were all fantastic. Unfortunately this was cut way to short and it didn't get time to develop into anything special, but if you are a fan of grappling, then this is a must watch.
