Also, you can only imagine what a group of Twitter trolls insulting an attractive woman must look like. The state of them!

Liv Morgan made a couple of tweets on Saturday night venting about people calling her fat and calling her out for gaining weight. Complete madness.

I think it stems from a photo of Liv sitting on the middle rope, when anyone with even the slightest knowledge of the human body knows that sitting down is not the best position to showcase the stomach, so to speak. It's madness. It feels like, for some fans, there's this impossible middle ground for women wrestlers between "getting fat" and "too skinny to safely bump" which only their favourites will sit in.

No way that Balor is hotter than Andrade or McIntyre.

Don't really get this "Andrade is supremely hot" thing. He's not ugly by any means, and is a very good looking man, but he just doesn't really strike me as extraordinarily handsome - Dr. Wagner Jr. is more remarkable, in that sense.

I guess having a good looking latino man in WWE's setting can make him stand out.

They really haven't had anyone else in the "attractive Latino guy" role since, what, Alberto probably? Everyone else is masked and Rey (who's mask basically shows his whole face these days) looks like he's permanently 12 years old.

Not only that, most women in WWE are so tiny I always am lowkey afraid one of them will shatter into a million pieces when they take a bump. Most of them could probably stand to gain a few pounds but I couldn't imagine the abuse they'd take on social media.

The mistake is thinking that these trolls are expressing genuine opinions rather than simply getting their jollies from hurling anonymous abuse at celebrities, particularly female ones. The lesson as always: social media was a mistake.

This. And this.

And really, none of these fuckers would ever get close to a girl looking like Liv IRL, so calling her fat is a way to express their anger at sexual frustration, really. I mean, Scarlett Bordeaux has been called fat too apparently. Like... I can't find a facepalm emoji on there, but there you go.

This is the credited response.  Lots of people become tough guys behind a consequences-free keyboard and get their kicks trolling.  Easier said than done but everyone needs to just ignore these types.

There are a *huge* number of men on the internet, from obese shut-ins to muscle heads to PUAs, who genuinely believe trash such as women are all downhill from age 22, thighs without gaps are too fat, etc. I don't know if you're being generous or naive.

The trash has always been out there, but social media gave those types the outlet to shove said trash in everyone's face. I know it's been said that turning one's feeds into like minded echo chambers isn't the best way to go either, but it seems like social media has increased toxicity everywhere by factors of 100.

This. It's becoming very obvious social media are trash and only make everything worse.

I was arguing with my girlfriend (who is not really a wrestling fan) about Ric Flair's attractiveness. I was showing her pictures of mid-80's Flair and she didn't find him attractive at all which I found to be preposterous. Women, AMIRITE?

comment_5880670

I'm not surprised. He's not most of the women's type nowadays. I think, in fact, even in the eighties, The Rockers, Lex Luger and Barry Windham were considered as prettier. But I agree lot of women loved Flair at the time, he was sleeping with hundred of women. You have to keep in mind that a lot of women are attracted to the type of man presented in movies etc. In the eighties, there were a tons of mid-length blond hair men like Flair, Luger, Windham, Michael Hayes, Bobby Eaton, Stan Lane, Shawn Michaels, Stan Lane, Buddy Landel etc. Nowadays, it's not the case at all. Wrestling changes along cinema and fashion. Currently, those are wrestlers like Cena, Orton, Rock, Batista, Reigns and Rollins that are seen as pretty. They have a really short brown hair or have a shaved head. It's not the case at all for Reigns and Rollins but they're not blond and both have an exotic side. I much prefer the look of the wrestlers from the eighties.

I can't think of one legit movie star looking likle a pro-wrestler in the 80's (Micheal Douglas, Harrisson Ford, Al Pacino, Bob DeNiro… yeah, not really) . Fucking mullets, trashy bleached blond hair, ugly mug. Either that of the porn-stache look of Rick Rude or Scott Hall. There were actually a few good looking dudes (Martel, Steamboat, Hennig), but most of the heartthrob-type looked sleazy as fuck. Not that the generic short hair tribal tattoed goofs of the 00's were that much better, they could all have taken part in a gang-bang in a low-rent Brazzers video. But overall, there's no comparison between a guy like The Rock and a guy like Flair, who has charisma up his ass but "attractive" in a conventionnal way, not seeing it either.

Oh, the idea of Batista being "good-looking" is quite puzzling to me BTW.

If Arnold had worked at any point in his career he would have been the biggest attraction in wrestling history. That being said, Flair didn't have anything close to an Arnold body. Swayze had the wrestler look too, but again, these guys are way out of Flair's league.

Tom Sellek is worth mentioning too, since they based a gimmick off his looks. I always wanted TA to have more of Secret Agent/Private Investigator flare to his gimmick. Shame he never got to work for Vince. Against Fuji Vice!

At the very least, he should have come to the ring in a Hawaiian shirt and Detroit Tigers cap. Then again, that may have been a bit too on the nose even by pro wrestling standards.

I said legit movie star. ;)

Arnold... well, we're talking about a very specific kind of beast here, along with Sly. They were bodybuilders turned actors, so in that respect they were closer to pro-wrestlers anyway.

I know it seems silly but Sellek was top billing in the biggest box office draw of 1987.

I have not seen one movie starring Tom Selleck. I couldn't give you one title of a movie with Tom Selleck. To me he's a guy from cheesy 80's US TV shows and the older guy fucking Monica in Friends. That's about it. I recon the stache is iconic though.

Three Men and a Baby was unavoidable in the late 80's (the sequel too). Magnum PI reruns were a staple of 90's USA Network programming.

He's always been a star, has had a hit show for the past decade consistently in the top 20 most viewed shows.
