April 14, 200520 yr comment_1699474 I think Stevie B. called it a day when The Hideout was closed. And I totally forgot that I posted at The Hideout and Dave's Super Secret Happy Fun House. I was even one of the inaugural invitees to the latter, which is kind of funny, in retrospect. That is because boards that try to be too exclusive are doomed to fail. What about a certain wrestling-based board that you and Loss belong to? Last time I checked, you can't even view most of the folders without being a member. And IIRC, you have to register and then be approved for membership or something lame like that. Be more specific. Which one?
April 14, 200520 yr comment_1699476 I was right?! YaY! *draws a 1 in the air* Score one for me. w00t~!

April 14, 200520 yr comment_1699495 I think he's talking about SpiderTwist. *in her best "dumb" voice* Isn't that a ride at 6 Flags?
April 14, 200520 yr comment_1699508 Oh ok... but SpiderTwist wasn't always "exclusive" and it was just recently that he disallowed guests to view the board. It has also become a ghost town. With the Hideout, you had to be invited to even know the damn thing existed... and once you were there, there was nothing to say that couldn't be said at WDI or SNKT or whatever board existed at the time.
April 14, 200520 yr comment_1699592 I think it's ironic, and agreed with you early on, but when IP pointed out that it's just coincidental, I realized she was actually right. Note to anyone reading this thread for the first time -- our sincerest apologies for killing your brain cells. Not try to extend this any longer, but I remember back in the day at English about there being 3 or 4 different types of irony, and thinking this case may be situational irony, or whatever. The class was 10 years ago though. I think I just got into the habit of using "irony". Or something. Or Indy truly is right. I think I'll conclude the latter. I really need to write an introduction to myself. When I'm not lazy.
April 14, 200520 yr comment_1699624 Situational Irony - Situational irony defies logical cause/effect relationships and justifiable expectations. For example, if a greedy millionaire were to buy a lottery ticket and win additional millions, the irony would be situational because such a circumstance cannot be explained logically. Such a circumstance seems ?unfair.? This sense of being ?unfair? or ?unfortunate? is a trademark of situational irony. Because people cannot explain the unfairness, it causes them to question whether or not the world makes sense. Just for a reference.
April 14, 200520 yr comment_1699844 A long time ago, I used a quote "If I told you that, you'd be as clever as me". I think it sums up my personality, and I reckoned, after I registered here, I'd use it to cover my tracks for a while. But a little voice in head says I should be honest. I'm Dave O'Neill. That one. The Dave O'Neill who's been banned from TSM twice, DVDVR, ARC (in record time), WDI, SNKT. All, for exactly the same reason - picking a fight and not backing it up. In hindsight, it was incredibly immature, and I still think I was right on most of the occasion, and, I've been proved right time and time again (Batista and Orton successful pushes, the success of the Eugene charcter), but, my fault lay within how I was defending myself. If I pissed anyone here off along the way, I apologise. After getting banned from everywhere, I started a blog, It's Not My Fault Either, and from there, hooked up with Last Free Voice and drifted towards DWB, where I've calmed down a lot, and enjoy some really spirited discussions. My blog acts as an outlet for my frustration with the anti-WWE side of the IWC, so I don't drag it onto places like DWB. And etc, etc.
April 14, 200520 yr Author comment_1701662 Wow, someone needs to catch you up on everything that happened while you were away.
April 14, 200520 yr comment_1701872 Coincidentally, I killed "Highspot" and registered the name "Crucifixio Jones" at the Smarks at like 1am or something on Sept. 11th. This was before either tower was hit later that morning, but still very weird. I had no idea Indy registered on that day, too.
April 14, 200520 yr comment_1702194 I'm also one of the "old-timers" that first came on the scene at the Rantsylvania Delphi board, then stayed for the ride at BananaSmarks, seeing ***** *****'s face on Hitler's body when he deleted the Flaming folder, leading to WDI's creation, and then moved on to TSM (where I somehow have risen to Admin status; really, how the fuck did THAT happen?) I've also started out my recapping "career" at Rant's old SmarkTalk until Alina deleted half the stuff and am now doing my Royal Treatments on RAWs and SDs and whatever else I feel like doing. I'll agree that TSM isn't what it used to be, but I don't think it's that bad (as long as you just see it as a place to discuss stuff with people and nothing more.) I'm not the most *active* poster. Hell, it only took THREE YEARS to reach 5000 posts at TSM.
April 15, 200520 yr comment_1707614 Wow, someone needs to catch you up on everything that happened while you were away. Um...I dunno about that. I seriously doubt it was that interesting. After all...IT'S A FUCKING MESSAGE BOARD!!?
April 15, 200520 yr comment_1708925 Started out on the old Rantsylvania board circa Wrestlemania 17 under the same name. Pissed around a few years mainly in the WWF forums until the retard invasions, at which time I moved over to WDI. While I was at WDI, I expanded upon previous efforts in the Smarks Crew folder at Rantsylvania and began reviewing the Shoot Interviews put out by various companies, including RF Video. That got me a gig writing at The Smarks which lasted about two years, at which point all the hookers and crack it provided me with had completely worn me out. I retired to mod duty at that time. That's a period of my life I'm trying to forget. Now I'm just a retired "man of adventure" gracing your board with my presence Oh, I was also the 4th member of the HHHaters, a movement that has successfully spread across the IWC and continues to this day in an unofficial format.
April 15, 200520 yr comment_1709305 Hi, I'm Crucifixio Jones' Asian love slave. His wish is my command. I respond to his every desire and whim. Oh gosh, my brain was taken over for a second, let me try that again. Hi, my name is Sun, and I'm new here, I was introduced to this board by CJ. I'm a regular poster at another message board, and he suggested I check this board out, 'cause I'm in search of...I dunno, cool people that are aware of what it means to be LITERATE.
April 15, 200520 yr comment_1709401 I first started searching the net for wrestling in the spring of 1997. When I first got on, I visited all the mark newz boards that were around at that time (remember Meltzer and Keller weren't on the net until late 1999). The first time where I felt the need to sound off was at the old Big 3 Newsboard, which featured a subsite called the oratory. The oratory was started in early 99 and the guys that wrote there severely pissed me off, so I would write them mail after mail refuting their points. A lot of my messages are feautured in their early columns of 1999/2000. I was seriously considering asking for a job writing at the site, but I felt my wrestling knowledge might not have been up to par. My problem was that while I was confident in my knowlege of wrestling history, I felt that I couldn't critique matches properly or give star ratings. That problem kind of still stays with me till this day. I was a major lurker at the old Rantsylvania board, smarkboard and lurked basically every big board that was around at the time. I was always afraid to be a poster because of the reasons stated above, I didn't feel comfortable discussing workrate and star ratings, and that's what I thought wrestling message boards were all about. I started posting in early 2003 on some mark boards to try and do a test run of sorts. I've always felt this was a good move because it gave me the perspective of the casual fan's viewpoint on wrestling. I still post on these boards sometimes. In the summer of 2003, I started posting at Kayfabe memories with the screen name STD Jones. I finally, after 2 and a half years, decided to join up with TSM in July of 2004. I mainly posted in the sports forum in the first few months before slowly moving on to the wrestling boards. My screen name comes my favorite video game of all time, Ken Griffey Junior Baseball 1994 for NES, Strummer is the name of the closer for the San Diego Padres.
April 15, 200520 yr comment_1709905 and then moved on to TSM (where I somehow have risen to Admin status; really, how the fuck did THAT happen?) Cuz I do what I want.
April 15, 200520 yr comment_1710561 Hmm... I started out discussing wrestling online at wrestlingforums.com and wrestlingtalk.com (I think that was the name) back in late 99, early 2000. The only other poster I still talk to out of the thousands that were at WT.com is a guy called... The Dames. I posted almost exclusively there until I discovered Rantsylvania, which had a garish yellow message board, where I lurked for years. I bothered to sign up at the "new" TSM forums, and posted a 3,000+ word topic about the state of the WWE and suggestions for improvements and stuff. The first reply was from Mr. Rant, and was "tl;dr". The shit. After posting a few more topics, I contacted Dames for a front page job, and after harassing him for months, he finally bothered to set up the account for me. I posted at SNKT and TSM from then, then my TSM username was deleted in a member purge. About April last year, I was made a mod at TSM and became and InstaNazi along with Loss. Now I barely post at TSM and post pretty much exclusively here and at Something Awful. Hi.
April 15, 200520 yr comment_1711148 Did you see the Something Awful post where someone posted a phone number and the subject title was "Stalk hot college girls!"? Cuz if you did, I have a story.
April 15, 200520 yr comment_1711443 Okay, here goes... I started out at the The Smarks forums in 2001 and have always been MARTYEWR. The EWR of course relates to my standing with Extreme Warfare Revenge which has been my so-called claim to fame on the net, as I was Adam Ryland's assistant as well as Official Michael Cole-level shill of the game. I joined WDI a little after everyone else joined, and have ventured to SNKT, The Hideout, and of course, Extreme Warfare Battleground. Still at the Smart Mark Forums, although you rarely see me post about wrestling anymore. You'll find me more in the sports folder. In fact, in general these days I don't talk too much about today's wrestling product and would rather discuss some of its past, especially if it's produced on WWE DVDs. You'll also see me pop up on other forums too. I've been here since the (general) beginning, but I've never really stood out in any way. To be honest, I kind of like it like that. A rambling intro, but the coffee I'm drinking hasn't fully hit me yet.
April 15, 200520 yr comment_1712314 Summer 2000: I get 'net access and while searching for information about old WWF Coliseum Videos, I stumble across Scott Keith's supply of old reviews. I quickly become engrossed in them and am admittedly a faithful reader. April 18, 2001: Although having read SK's reviews for months at this point, I had never checked out the board adjecent to the main site. Following Wrestlemania, I decide to check it out. I like what I see and register with one of the lamest names ever seen on a board: daredevil21. I had been on a comic kick at the time and since I just wanted to register, that was the first thing that came to mind. August 2001: The good times appear to have ended, as the Smarks board has increasingly become infested with trolls and people who've no clue how to use the keyboard. I am unfortunately almost one of the latter people, but I know I am at least trying. SK has already joked about closing down the site, but at this point, it may be a good idea because the quality has seriously gone done. The addition of pop culture folders has only proven to make things worse. December 2001: It's announced that the Smarks board will be moving on to Invision and thus, the EZBoard's days are numbered. All hell breaks loose over post counts, mod powers, and funny pictures. January 2002: I join the new TSM board, but haven't missed the creation of WDI, a board created by disgruntled posters from the EZBoard Smarks board. March 2002: I get a PM at TSM from some guy named IllustriousOne85 asking me if I want to post at the aforementioned WDI. No exact date is around since TSM has since deleted my original account. I decide to give it a look and soon enough, I find myself posting at WDI and being disgusted with TSM. July 25. 2002: Bruiser Chong is born. After a failed attempt at WDI, CJ convinces me in a chat at four in the morning to register the name at TSM, complete with badass avatar and signature. Since I'm spineless, I go with it and within the day, have become one of the most hated people at TSM. August 2002: At the same time, WDI has become stale, as there has been a debate sparked about Content vs. Fun. I side with the former, but it's clear a losing battle is being fought. Sept. 11, 2002: The Socialist's Sanctuary officially opens for business and I have a new home. The board is everything I've wanted out of a board but had been missing out on. April 2003: The good times don't last, as a major blowup between CJ and MiB more or less seal the fate of SNKT V1. This leads to a retreat to the now-relocated WDI. July 2003: Thing have been working out great at WDI, surprisingly enough, but they aren't to last. CJ gets banned and I quickly become viewed as a troublemaker among the powers that be. It's not long after that I stop posting completely. August 2003: A chat between five or so people leads to the birth of SNKT V2. We set up shop at Invision Board and tell ourselves we're going to do it right this time. For the first two weeks, it seems like that's the truth. December 2004: SNKT has been on life support recently and it looks like it may not be worth keeping open. Tech problems are erasing threads, people aren't dedicated and the admins are rarely around. Finally, the last major tech problem suddenly ends the board's reign on no notice. February 2005: MiB IMs me the link to this place. Here we go again. Can things get done right this time around? One would hope that the third time's the charm, but that remains to be seen. As for me, I started out a 16-year-old kid with a horrible username and no concept of typing, that just wanted to know about old WWF, and became a guy with another bad username, but who is a lot more respected because he finally learned that there are two spaces after periods. The end.
April 15, 200520 yr comment_1712885 Man, I don't want to go too far back, but... I remember I was lurking at the Smarks EZBoard just before it moved to the Invision boards. I never posted at teh EZBoards and was probably around for about... a week if not less before the move. I honestly don't know how I found the site, but I heard that Dames had been named to a moderator and I thought that was cool because I had knew Dames (and also Sakura if you're keeping tabs) from a OOOOLD forums that was called WrestlingTalk.com (I think). Well, I registered at TSM as "Flyboy212EAW" (because usually simply just "Flyboy" is always taken) and didn't post too much. I think I really got 'sparked' by the whole Mission to 1000 Thread and was labelled a 'post whore'. Well, it wasn't long before TSM just became bored to me until one day treble IMs me and informs me that someone wanted to chat with me. That's when I "meet" CJ. He tells me about WDI... I go there and then the shit hits the fan as well. SNKT II is born, yadda yadda. And, now I'm here. I think I've made a HUGE transition to what I used to be. As for me, I started out a 16-year-old kid with a horrible username and no concept of typing, that just wanted to know about old WWF, and became a guy with another bad username, but who is a lot more respected because he finally learned that there are two spaces after periods. The end. I think that pretty much summerizes me as well, but I started when I was in the 5th or 6th grade (which is about, what, 11-year-old to 12-year-old?). And, I really wasn't wanting to know about old WWF but rather WWF gaming (WWF Attitude for N64 anyone?) and things of that nature.
