May 25, 200520 yr comment_2259861 I'm CanadianChick. If you're at TSM at all, then you know of me at least.
May 25, 200520 yr comment_2260395 Yeah, I'm with Some Guy on this one. Who are you again? A PBP? *gets ready to ban*
May 25, 200520 yr comment_2260466 I'm CanadianChick. If you're at TSM at all, then you know of me at least. Are you really a chick? That's a novel gimmick.
May 25, 200520 yr comment_2265738 I don't believe that I've replied to this thread, so it'll give me something to do. Coffey is the username and my real last name. First name Joshua. Terre Haute, Indiana is the location. Twenty-Three years old. Currently unemployed. I don't work a whole lot. Drug & alcohol free. I'm a big fan of being able to pass a piss test. This town has a lot of factory jobs, so it's important. I've went by a lot of usernames. ECWfan1 was what I started with. It had a whole backstory behind it. I met Disco Inferno and "Baby" (Nitro Girl) at Origins in Columbus, Ohio. It was a weekend long card convention. Anyway, I was talking to Disco and I asked him to sign my picture "ECWfan1" as a way to mock him. He put "To: ECWfan1" <_ so since the mistake had already went down i just told him to sign his name hip hop inferno which he did. also put some bullshit like your mother or something on it. baby being ignorant looked what did and wrote ecwfan1 from that was disco finish with a piledriver. next night nitro src="%7B___base_url___%7D/uploads/emoticons/default_smile.png" alt=":)"> I've been posting on message forums for close to six years now I believe. I started with WrestlingGames.com which was where I initally met Sek and a few other posters. From there, after that forum shut down, I moved to The Wall where I was banned every other week. Sek went there also. I found TSM via looking up results of a PPV. That was back before they moved and Pornfaq was still making regular posts. Then I went to the Dames' ran TSM. I got banned as Cataclysm911 by bps21. Made the Coffey account. Asked to be banned awhile ago and never was, apparently, as I can still login. I was at SNK when it was going. I also posted at a forum called Crossfire that was just a small group of smarks. It died due to inactivity, much like the forum that Anvil and myself started. I've been watching wrestling since right before Wrestlemania V. I remember watching all of the build-up to Savage/Hogan. The first WCW I remember watching was a PPV that had a scafold tag team match with Bobby Eaton and PN News in it. So, I had to seek out tapes and what not eventually. First found Puro thanks to mIRC. I downloaded some matches and got hooked. Had Goodhelmet make me a comp. tape or two. I'm still not real big into it because I don't have the money to follow it. I watch what I can. I've been pretty big into Ring of Honor lately. I download a lot of shows from the PWTorrents site. It's the only way I can keep up. I had Goodhelmet make me a comp. tape of RoH as well. Outside of wrestling, I come to a lot of these forums for the music and movie discussion. Although admittedly I'm not real big into arguing music. It can grate my nerves. I just recently started reading comics through the power of the internet. I've been reading Hellboy, Hellblazer & The Sandman. I'm up to issue 54 or so out of 75 with The Sandman. I think I'll check out Lobo next. I'm big into sports. I follow the Chicago Cubs in MLB although I'm a big fan of Eric Gagne, Randy Johnson, Pedro Martinez and Curt Shilling. I also love to watch Barry Bonds hit no matter what the current buzz circling him is. Same with Albert Pujols and Vlad Guerrero. I follow Notre Dame football. If you were raised in my house, you pretty much had to. Ever seen the movie Rudy? Ned Betty is my dad. NFL, Green Bay Packers. Through and through. I also watch a lot of basketball although I don't really have a favorite team. I was big into Phoenix when Charles Barkley played for them. I was big into Boston when Larry Bird played for them. I've always really just followed players. I like watching Kevin Garnett and Allen Iverson nowadays. My darkhorse for the future is Luke Jackson out of Oregon. I used to be really big into P.C. games. A lot of the friends that I have now I met because we were a clan in Counterstrike. We tried to go pro. and weren't too successful. At one time we were ranked top 25 in the world though. It took a lot of practicing and a lot of time wasted sitting in a chair staring at a monitor. I also play Magic: The Gathering. Well, off and on. I tried to go pro. at that too. I qualified once but didn't take advantage of the opportunity. I've been playing that for over ten years now. Finally, here's a picture of me from a few weeks back at Wrigley Field. The Cubbies won the game over the Mets when Derrek Lee hit a home run in the bottom of the 10th. I'm throwing up the Jimmy Snuka love sign. As you can tell, I'm a looker. I shouldn't have shaved my mutton chops. Them being absent make my face look even fatter! My friend Chad is sitting beside me. Anvil was there as well and another friend of mine named Jeremy was the one taking the picture: http://www.clanrvd.com/chicago/DSC07482.jpg Yeah, I fit a lot of the stereotypes. I think that sums it up.
May 25, 200520 yr comment_2265913 I met Disco Inferno and "Baby" (Nitro Girl) at Origins in Columbus, Ohio. It was a weekend long card convention. ... and ... I also play Magic: The Gathering. Well, off and on. I tried to go pro. at that too. I qualified once but didn't take advantage of the opportunity. I've been playing that for over ten years now. First off, what in the HELL were Baby and Disco doing at Origins? I have never seen anyone cool there. Well, aside from random Clingons (or however it's spelled), Storm Troopers, and Magic artists that I like. I need to hang out wherever you go, heh. As for playing Magic, my husband, Terry, plays it as well. He and a few friends have qualified as well...although, never really taking advantage of it either. He's been playing it forver. Really good at it. I just dabble in it here and there...more of "casual player" and an art/card collector.
May 25, 200520 yr Author comment_2265930 I'd have no qualms with MAGIC if people didn't take it so seriously. Then again, I'm sure people have thought the same about me and my wrestling habit. Don't role players give each other names like Farquar?
May 25, 200520 yr comment_2265989 lol @ Farquar. Magic players don't give each other names. (Unless you count cocksucker, fuckface, asshole, etc. as names.) That's D&D players...and other role playing games. Never played one of those games.
May 25, 200520 yr comment_2266186 I've won a lot of money playing Magic. It's also the reason why I ever get to leave the city. I've been to a lot of different states thanks to the game. Without it, I'd probably never like Indiana. I qualified for Pro Tour New York a few years back. I'd only won, like, $250 from the qualifying tournament and I didn't think that was enough money to make the trip. So, I ended up not going. I definitely regret it.
May 25, 200520 yr comment_2266293 I think if Terry ever wins a PTQ again, I will make him take it as far as possible. I will find a way to fund it. It's an awesome opportunity. From everything Terry has told me, there is money to be made in it. As for Indiana, there are only 2 reasons we even bother to go there. One is the conventions, the other is that a friend of ours lives there. We will be there in August for GenCon, to see said friends, and take Noah to the zoo for the first time. I am hoping that Rebecca Guay's hippy ass will be there to sign more of my collection. Love her. Love her. Love her.

I definitely regret it.This is random, but was it an Extended PTQ for Pro Tour Lin Sivvi? It would have been in February of 2000; we went to one in Indy and one of my friends at the time qualified in that (it was a 4-slot event, IIRC). We even almost died on the trip home. Just curious. And yeah, Indiana pretty much sucks.
May 26, 200520 yr comment_2273689 No, it was team trios. Held in Indy. My team went 7-0 in Swiss and swept the Rochester Draft. It was limited. We didn't even open really good cards in the swiss rounds. We just placed our people correctly, made the decks according to player strength and what they were comfortable with. This was back when it was Masque block. I remember I had an Ancient Hydra.
May 26, 200520 yr comment_2273759 What are you talking about? I think I've gathered that Indiana sucks. Both my father and I will agree. My dad is from Terre Haute.

AKA Magic: The Gathering. (A card game for those who haven't heard of it.) Coffey, I have to ask....what is your favourite Magic colour?
May 26, 200520 yr comment_2277269 Ah, Terre Haute ... home of Columbia House! I like to think of it as the place where Tim McVeigh was executed. At least it has one positive. We made a trip out threre and missed the execution by one day. We were in Indianapolis when they put him down and in Terre Haute the next day. I consider it a lost oppurtunity. Oh and Larry Bird went to college there.

I've heard of it but I didn't realize that people still played it. That was all the rage when I was in Middle School, I never played.
May 26, 200520 yr comment_2277851 I never played it until I moved "down South". Terry introduced me to it. My Grandma thought it was an "evil game"...because of being somewhat related to D&D.
May 26, 200520 yr comment_2277994 I don't have a favorite color. I never really have. I play whichever deck has the best winning percentage for the current metagame. Magic is also bigger than ever. For you to think that people didn't still play it is, well, cute for the lack of a better term. It's now worldwide. The cards are printed in many different languages. The Pro Tour circuit covers, basically, the entire world. It's played by hundreds of thousands of people now. Hell, Wizards of the Coast even bought D&D since they're so rich. Some of the oldest power cards go for well into the hundreds. I've seen a single card in mint condition go for well over $1,000.
May 26, 200520 yr comment_2278150 I've seen some of the Power 9 go for $1,000+. It's outrageous. I had NO idea that cards like that were so expensive. I remember the first time I bought cards online at TOGIT. I was looking for a Rebecca Guay foil. (I collect her art.) It was $0.49. I was like, "Good God. For a stupid card?!" I told Terry about that, and he just laughed at me. He then showed me how much Power 9 cost at the time, and I was floored. I told him that anyone who would pay those prices for a piece of cardboard was stupid. But yes, Magic is pretty huge. You wouldn't think so until you go to a convention like GenCon or Origins. Man, the freaks really come out for those. And about 90% of those freaks forget to shower and use deodorant during the convention week/weekend. Nasty little bastards. (It's pretty sad when the guidebook for said convention has to actually ASK for the participants to exercise good hygiene.)
May 26, 200520 yr comment_2280718 Ah Magic! I remember having a card that I sold for $20, which was a pretty nice card. I also used to play with a red spells deck that did quite a bit of damage. Currently I've got a pretty good beast deck kicking about that only needs a couple of things to make it pretty deadly. My friend Anthony plays Magic pretty consistantly (he actually got me back into it) and he's got some pretty sic decks. A samurai deck that allows every creature in it to become samurais, an elf deck that basically stalls till you basically run out of cards, and a Sliver deck (self-explanatory). He's got like thousands of cards, and gave me a few hundred for just a few cards although, they were legends and my Forsaken World card (nice little card). BTW, for the Pro Tour, are you allowed to build any deck, or only to the current "block" that's still being use? I'm kinda curious.
May 26, 200520 yr comment_2280769 There's formats. You play whatever the current format is and each format has it's own set of legal cards. www.brainburst.com (great for new decks and articles written by players) www.wizards.com/dci (any question you have can be answered here)
