The Survivor Series is here soon, and, like last year, it's going to feature a mixture of regular matches and elimination matches, which were the hallmark of the Survivor Series concept. It used to be that the whole PPV was made up of elimination matches, but that changed in 1992 where there was only one elimination match, and even then it had different rules. The next few years saw the card made up of mostly elimination matches with a couple of regular matches thrown in, which seems to be the format of choice for the PPV, 1998 not withstanding.

With all the history of the Survivor Series concept, what would you prefer the format of the PPV to be? Going back to the tradition of all elimination matches? Keeping it as it is, with a mixture of both? Or maybe all elimination matches but with that big singles match to headline?

All elimination matches but with a singles match main event

With 15+ WWE PPVs a year now, it's getting hard to differeniate between most of them. WM is the biggest show of the year, Summerslam usually gets the label of second biggest, the Rumble has the Rumble match, but what makes Survivor Series actually part of the big four? There hasn't been anything very special about it the past couple years, with the exception of the Elimination Chamber debut and last year's Raw vs. Smackdown feud.

I would've been satisfied with just brand-specific elimination tags, but they're actually doing one better by mixing all three brands into individual matches. Even if the matches don't really have much of a reward for winning (but what matches really do besides specific matches they randomly decide to make for contendership?), they have the uniqueness of seeing some fresh pairings and match-ups. If an entire line-up of only elimination tags isn't enough to warrant ordering the show, add a big main event/world title match.

Having just one or two regular elimination tags doesn't really make the show special. Give it back it's gimmick that made it special in the first place by having all interbrand elimination tags and one big match.
