August 20, 20187 yr comment_5863659 That was just as bad as their WM 34 match. I get the logic of the storytelling (If you chase two rabbits, you'll lose them both) but the body of the match was garbage. The difference between their 2015 classic and their 2018 series is like night and day. Still Roman finally won and the chase is complete so kudos and mission accomplished.
August 20, 20187 yr comment_5863660 At this point, whatever moves them from thinking about how to coronate Reigns to actually treating him like he's arrived is something I'll take. I'd love Brock to get no offense and get pummeled in two minutes before disappearing for good, but this worked too.
August 20, 20187 yr comment_5863661 I mean, it was a smart way out of the Brock-Roman trap, but I'm not going to pretend it was actually satisfying.

I'm not hopeful though. They just chumped their best face act to try to get Roman less booed.

August 20, 20187 yr comment_5863664 Less satisfying in the moment with a better outlook over the next few months. The inverse of usual WWE.
August 20, 20187 yr comment_5863665 I like how they over-delivered on most of the PPV and then ended it so badly they left a worse taste in people's mouth.
August 20, 20187 yr comment_5863666 The fact that people are amazed and rejoicing that Vince actually got people to pop for Roman beating Brock like it was some act of genius just shows how thoroughly the goalposts have been moved here. This isn't how wrestling is supposed to work. This isn't how anything where planning can actually happen should work. All of this stuff is so inherently broken that we're celebrating the fact that it wasn't a complete disaster.
August 20, 20187 yr Author comment_5863667 Honestly, them just flat out squashing Brock at this point would be also major bullshit considering the length of the title reign and the absurdity of the WM34/GRR matches. This was a fun sprint that actually addressed Braun/Brock (the last time they fought each other Kane was the one to get pinned and Braun actually was having the upper hand), finally got over all the Brock bullshit and it seems they are finally going to give Roman the run he should've gotten 3 years ago.

August 20, 20187 yr comment_5863669 The show probably exceeded expectations overall. The only time I was bored was during the Rollins-Ziggler slog.
August 20, 20187 yr comment_5863670 The Brock hates the wrestling business, wwe and the fans stuff actually worked in the long run. I guess at the end of the day most fans love the business more than the wrestlers themselves

Sure. The rest of this backwards bs? I have a feeling we're all going to be sitting here in 12 months frustrated out of our skulls still.
August 20, 20187 yr comment_5863673 I wonder how much of the crowd that was cheering for Roman winning had mixed emotions once they realized that Braun was not cashing in that night. Doesn't matter cause the show was off the air.

It's been happening since WCW folded, probably longer. Choosing to focus on in-ring and not care about bad promos or booking in itself is a moving of goalposts.

Though I agree with your main point, that the fact wrestling fans are reduced to this is sort of sad.
August 20, 20187 yr comment_5863676 I kinda agree with Matt. They basically had to have Brock go out there and say he hates the wrestling business and all the peripheral things surrounding it in order for people to get to cheer Roman. I don't think it should really work that way ideally but I guess whatever it takes
August 20, 20187 yr comment_5863677 It will be interesting to see what happens to the IC title now. They've sort of built it up as a really big deal since Brock has had Big Red.
August 20, 20187 yr comment_5863678 Agree,i hope there is no roman brock rematch. He had the cornotion and maybe will finally get that run. The match wasnt that much. But it was fun at least we hopefuly have finally moved on from reings vs brock .it was not the complete shit show expected glad about that and them finally moving all from all this messed situation.mixed feelings this was a good way to achieve that whatever.

August 20, 20187 yr comment_5863680 The only way we get a Brock vs Roman rematch in the next year is unless Brock fucks up and fails another drug test and there is no way to get around it for the UFC. the WWE was always the place to go because he couldn't go to the UFC. Now he can until the inevitable USADA violation
August 20, 20187 yr comment_5863681 Clearly, Drew is moving into main events within the next year, but I think it's too soon now for him to enter the Reigns-Strowman mix. Doesn't mean they won't.
