May 30, 201411 yr comment_5605220 Just noticed this but was this thread really started in February 2007? That's only because the board wasn't active in 2002.

June 6, 201411 yr comment_5606010 AJ Styles on Chris Jericho's podcast was real interesting listen. AJ has very much done the rounds interview wise but he seems to open up more to a fellow Wrestler about his disappointments about TNA as a business. Recommended. 20 minutes into the podcast the interview starts.
June 7, 201411 yr comment_5606116 I am vaguely tempted to go to a TNA taping at the Hammerstein. Seems like it might be amusingly bad. Is that right? Or will it just be dull? Haven't been following TNA at all as of late.

Haven't been following TNA at all as of late. It will be awful unless the right crowd shows up. If they do show up it could end up being the most entertaining train wreck in wrestling history. .

No interest in website plugs or hockey.
June 9, 201411 yr comment_5606323 Looking at awful pictures of TNA house show crowds, wouldn't it just make more sense for them to be running in high school gyms? I've seen pictures of Big Time Wrestling drawing completely packed high school gyms in The Carolinas and Virginia with The Hardys and Ric Flair autograph sessions.
June 9, 201411 yr comment_5606332 TNA has a show coming up in Bethlehem. I looked up tickets out of curiosity and they're running $23-85 for the show. That's roughly the same I would pay for a WWE show, and they've established a standard of quality. I wouldn't watch a TNA show on a whim at that price.
June 9, 201411 yr comment_5606333 The only time I went to a TNA show was a PPV show in Trenton a few years ago. So low was my desire to pay decent money to see TNA that I requested "worst seats available" at the ticket window.

The Memorial Auditorium here seats about 2,000 and that show probably drew about 200.

I think a few of the 2014 house shows have taken place at high schools. Don't know the comparative costs, but some high school gyms can hold a decent crowd. They could pull some lame gimmick like "If Robbie E wins, the principal gets hit with a pie" or such.
June 16, 201411 yr comment_5607411 Serious question - are TNA ppvs profitable? 17,000 buys at $50 a pop is $850,000, half that goes to the carriers... I have no idea what TV production runs, but they can't be actually making money on these, can they?
June 16, 201411 yr comment_5607415 Apparently earlier they tweeted that if they got 500 retweets they would reveal the first match for the PPV. A few hours later they had barely broken 200 and deleted the tweet.
June 16, 201411 yr comment_5607416 From photos I've seen from inside the building it looks like they have a pretty decent crowd tonight.
June 16, 201411 yr comment_5607430 Crowd seemed decent and most important for the quality of the show was red hot by TNA standards. Amazingly the ppv tonight was actually very good. No bad matches, and while there were also no great matches, the show had more feel good moments than "fucking TNA" moments.
June 16, 201411 yr comment_5607492 Crowd was a reported 3000, but TNA are good at making that look a lot more on TV, plus they were a hot crowd which helped.
June 16, 201411 yr comment_5607545 Could some older fans please compare TNA with Global? The more I think about it, the more I wonder if Global might have been the more "successful" company aka slightly less disastrous.

It lost far less money, so if we're using that as a gauge for success, then yes.
June 18, 201411 yr comment_5608228 So Dixie realized these northeast tapings could be disastrous, and her idea to preemptively fix it is to start a feud with Dreamer's House of Hardcore promotion where TNA is heel and encourage "fuck TNA" chants at the shows. And all of these shows will be televised through the summer up to their contract renewal talks with Spike. I haven't watched TNA in years but I'm all in to watch the wheels totally come off.

Well, isn't one of Dixie's catch phrases, "It's good publicity"? Or "Publicity over profit"?

June 18, 201411 yr comment_5608337 On the TNA website there is a poll: 4 sided ring or 6 sided ring! YOU DECIDE~! TNA should be more concerned with improving the product they're putting out than how many sides their ring is. The Eric Young/MVP feud in a six-sided ring is just as unappealing to me as it is in a four-sided ring.
June 18, 201411 yr comment_5608338 I never really understood the appeal of the 6 sides ring personally.
