Posted April 23, 200520 yr comment_1824642 Seriously, it's terrible. Here's what I said about it at another forum: It's all the little things about this game that make it so that it's not any fun. The Create-A-Wrestler makes it really hard to attempt to make actual wrestlers. Seeing as how the roster is so bad for this game, that seems to be a pretty big problem. The available moves just pissed me off. Hell, the animation of the moves that ARE there are terrible. Look at Batista's Powerbomb or Triple H's Pedigree. *shakes head* Weapons disappear again. WTF? I haven't seen that crap since, like, Wrestlemania 2000 on the N64. It's damn impossible to reverse finishers. It's supposed to be L+R correct? Never once did myself or any of my friends get it to work. In fact, the reversal system altogether is trash. Much like the submission system, striking system and grappling system. It's all trash. The hit detection makes it so. The ability to NOT get up makes it so. I actually think that the graphics are BAD. It's an X-Box game and it's outshined by dated PS2 games. Smackdown Vs. Raw & Here Comes the Pain both look better than this game graphically. Hell, HCtP plays better too! Look at Bubba's character selection screen portrait pic. What the fuck is that shit? Instead of focusing so much time on the Bra & Panties match and all the stupid women characters that'll never be played with, they should've made the other match types not so shitty. You can only have four people on the screen at once? Yay. Looks like the Rumble match won't be very fun. Why can you only do One-on-One Hell in a Cell? Hell, this game even has slow down! I didn't have high expectations for this game but I did have some expectations for this game. I figured that it'd be fun for awhile but it'd have flaws. I figured since it's the first in a new series of wrestling games that it'd gradually progress. The problem is that all the wrestling games that keep coming out need to keep progressing because they're fucking terrible. I was wrong about this game too. It wasn't fun for a little while. There's a ton of other problems too. All the glitches, the horrible loading times, having to get patches to make it so that the game actually runs. Not to mention to game randomly freezing. A lot of people are saying that it's "worse than Raw 2." Still, some people at TSM will try to argue that it's "OK" or that they "have fun with it." They are definitely in the minority from the general consensus that I've read.
April 23, 200520 yr comment_1827254 Heh, looks like the Wrestlemania franchise went two steps forward from WM18 and three steps backwards. Nope, can't think of any excuses for that. That's one of the few cases where I'm glad a game got shafted from Gamecube to X-Box exclusivity.
April 24, 200520 yr Author comment_1838158 My friend who bought the game, sold it the next day for thirty-fuck bucks. So, basically, he paid around fifteen dollars to experiment with the game for an hour or two. That's an expensive game! I must admit, I was disappointed. I was looking for a new game to waste time with friends. Looks like I'm leaning more towards Guild Wars now. I got to play if for about five hours last weekend as part of a beta.

That's what reviews, word-of-mouth and friends that have the game are for hell, at least rent it first.
April 25, 200520 yr Author comment_1857016 It was a spur of the moment thing to do. There wasn't any word or mouth or anything at the time as it hadn't been released yet. We got it at Wal*Mart as soon as it came out. We didn't know it was going to be that bad. If we wanted to rent it first, we'd have to wait another week or two and wouldn't have anything to combat boredom that night.
April 25, 200520 yr comment_1857031 I read somewhere that there was a bug that prevented users from accessing XBox Live while in WM21. My best friend works at EB and on the first day, they already had something like 10 returns.
April 25, 200520 yr Author comment_1857076 Yeah. There's already been a patch put on-line to remedy that problem though. It still doesn't make the gameplay better though.
April 26, 200520 yr comment_1859664 Damn, I didn't know it was already out but it was the first wrestling game I was looking forward to since I had to wait for my copy of VPW2 to arrive. Oh well, thanks for saving me some coin. Speaking of VPW2, I still play it to this day which tells you something about what a deep and engaging game it is.
April 27, 200520 yr Author comment_1885163 Well, you still might want to rent it so that you can form your own opinion on it. For what it's worth, I also consider VPW2 to be the best wrestling game that I've ever played. I got bored with it like I did Wrestlemania 2000, WCW/NWO Revenge and No Mercy though. I can't expect a game to be fun for ten straight years or so. That being said, I want you to play Wrestlemania XXI. I want to see how similar our opinions are.
April 28, 200520 yr comment_1900765 For me, I still play VPW2 because I keep making little adjustments that keep it interesting. I'll pit shoot fighters vs. wrestlers in wrestling matches or in shoot fights. I mix in the occasional Texas Tornado tag match, 3 way hardcore matches, title tournaments. Also, I am continuously seeing matches from different "Legends" so I am able to still get something out of the CAW and PPV modes. Then, if nothing else, a 40 man battle royale still keeps me hooked. I'll probably rent it sometime in the next two weeks. So far, all reviews point to the game sucking hard.
April 29, 200520 yr comment_1911254 The N64 was really the best system for wrestling games so far. I have every one that came out for the system (including VPW and VPW2) and the new games still can't hang with them in terms of gameplay. I will say, I have Day of Reckoning and Wrestlemania XIX for GameCube, and I think they're the best post-N64 games I've played so far.
