If WWE allows someone to illegally use one of their trademarks without trying to get it stopped, it creates a precedent and makes it harder to get it stopped in the future if someone uses one of their trademarks in a way that could actually hurt them. "Vince" may have better things to do, but he has an entire department in his company devoted to this sort of thing.

 

It's possible he got permission to use the name Razor Ramon for this show though.

I'm a little frightened at what the plans may be for RAW this week. One of the biggest issues WWE has always had is the lack of unpredictability or spontaneity, and that the writers try to do too much. All the pressure from Vince is just going to make the writers do more scripting and contrived comedy, when they already do way too much promo writing and forced comedy.

 

In a way, it is a good thing that Vince acknowledges they've gotten content and wants to go in a new direction and try new things, but I hope it's not just another one of his phases, like focusing on refs enforcing rules or divas being presented as sophisticated women. It's the first acknowledgement I can think of in years that WWE has made that things are not as they should be. But with the current group of people who are responsible for putting things together, the prospect of them overthinking things and trying too hard is even more scary than them being stuck in auto-pilot and bad formula.

 

Should be an interesting RAW if nothing else.

With regards to the return of Vince McMahon, both Bryan Alvarez and Dave Scherer have been reporting that the plan is to restart the Vince McMahon is dead angle from the point where Vince was to make his return. I'm not surprised that this is their answer to the falling ratings, because I'm sure many of the key decision makers in the company are deluding themselves that the ratings drop is not due to all the bad publicity stemming from the Benoit double murder suicide, but due to them having to scrap this ground breaking storyline. They've got to be very careful how they play this, because doing a who attempted to murder Vince storyline now could turn off even more viewers than they've already lost.

 

Doesn't surprise me at all, kjh. I mean, I'm guessing in WWE-land, the Benoit tribute RAW NEVER happened, so Vince hasn't appeared on TV since his limo got blown up, right?

After the Benoit tribute/anti-tribute shows, a close friend of mine made the comment that the best possible thing the WWE could do in this situation would be to open the following RAW with some voice-over guy (preferably Vince himself) dramatically stating "Previously, on Raw...", and then showing the limo explosion and just going from there. I couldn't agree more.

 

For a long time, I've been saying that in the long run, the death of kayfabe in wrestling will be a good thing. At the time, what I meant was that it would free them up creatively, as they would no longer have to make things seem "real", creating limitless possibilities for how they could book things in the future. But now, I see a greater benefit, one in which the whole CIA/Mafia/Porn "secret society" aspect of it that is as responsible as anything for driving all these guys to their graves is eliminated once and for all. They've broken away from kayfabe for 15+ years, but they've never REALLY broken away in the truest sense of the term, and I don't know if that makes things better or worse. But if there's a light at the end of the Benoit nightmare tunnel of Hell, it's that Vince has inadvertantly created an opportunity to destroy kayfabe once and for all. I can't imagine he'll follow through with it, but I can dream, can't I?

 

Either way, this is gonna be a can't miss Raw.

You know, I was watching some Eddie Guerrero a couple of days ago and I realized there's nobody currently in the WWE who approaches his charisma level. Because of this, I really think they could use Jericho because there's nobody there who has the charisma of him either especially with Michaels and Undertaker gone.

That made me wonder if that's why HHH hasn't made an appearance yet. It seemed as if everything was tailor made for his TV return tonight, and it was just an empty tease. I'd wager he's the one guy everyone would be looking at to see if Vince is serious about everyone getting off the roids/HGH.
