Internet PM Theater, starring Benbeeach (a cool guy who may o may not post here, I forget) and multi-time WON Booker of the Year winner Gabe Sapolsky:

lol Gabe is back at it again with some more douchery.

Refering to JR's blog about Danielson's dark match:

June 17th: Hey Mr. Ross, thank you for the kind words. Just a little correction. It is just "ROH" and is not "the ROH."

That's a hilariously awful "I need to stay looking rebelious despite the reality that a mention of ROH on WWE.com is huge" attempt.

Sort of how I felt about the News Bulletins which popped up everywhere about two minutes after the word about the dark match got around, self-consciously saying that ROH gave their "permission" for Danielson to work the dark match. I know he's on a contract, but still. I get a mental image of Vince shuffling into a darkened office, hat in hand, begging "Please Mr. Sapolsky, grant me this favor," and then Gabe makes him kiss his ring.

Having seen the Joe/Punk shoot and hearing about Gabe's near orgasam over Joe/Punk II getting five stars. I can only imagine what Gabe would do if WWE offered to either subsidize ROH or make them into a developmental territory.

And then subsequently, after is goes south, how the newswires would be all 'ROH is its own company, we don't need them!'

The main problem with using ROH as a farm system is that it would put everyone in ROH under a WWE contract and they wouldn't be able to work other indies. Then, they'd be getting less experience, and the match quality -- ROH's calling card -- would suffer, which would negate the point of using ROH as a farm system. I think, more than using ROH as the developmental, they should keep ROH as an unofficial source of talent, and maybe just pay more attention to it.

Good points all around, Loss. Plus ROH being on PPV would also be a factor. I honestly think that it's possible, given that WWE is based out of the Northeast, but it would only happen in ROH's financial woes continue. There hasn't been much said about them lately, any word yet if their cost cutting has been helping them out?

Surely Gabe if offered would covertly work with the Evil Empire as a "consultant" for $1000 a week and a cup of coffee on the creative team after ROH goes bankrupt? No need to go to all that expense of subsidising the whole company!

Dave just wrote about this actually, suggesting that ROH has plateaued at an acceptable level but with less growth potential than some had hoped. He predicts the company will be around and in much the same state at this point next year.

Michael Hayes is back to work, but with quite a few provisions. Namely, he had to taken sensitivity training, had to have a sit down with Mark Henry and other African American wrestlers, and can no longer drink at WWE related event.

There's likely plenty of WWE employees who need to do the same.

Although when I picture JBL, Bob Holly and Bruce Pritchard sitting in a sensitivity training class, I laugh out lod. ;)

comment_5432319

When I heard he had to take sensitivity training classes, all I could think about was the episode of Rescue Me, where the whole fire house had to take classes and wound up throwing around every racist term in in the book.

It's probably pretty close to what'll actually happen. I can't recall if it was this board or another where I pointed this out before, but it is worth remembering that psychotherapy - of which "sensitivity training" would be an extension - only works if the one being treated really believes/is open to the possibility that he has a problem and is willing to actively participate in solving it. If Hayes just goes through the motions with this, it's not gonna change a damn thing about him. Which, for reasons Loss noted, probably wouldn't be the worst thing in the world.

Basically Gabe's comments is him sending a message while trying to come off like a rebel. He's saying "F U Mr. Ross! We don't want to be subsidized and we're not letting Danielson out of his contract".

There's even more fun in today's newswire. Gabe made a comment implying that NOAH had allowed ROH to promote the first ever singles match between Marufuji and Shiozaki. But it's pretty common knowledge that they've wrestled before in singles matches. It's already been mentioned on the board and the silence is deafening, aside from comments like "It's sad that you even know that!"

Here's a random ignorant question. [bTW, I feel safe asking ignorant questions on this board, unlike on some. Thanks, guys, for developing that kind of environment!]

So, I just got my hands on the 2006 set (Thanks, W! :)). On the first disc, you have the spectacular KENTA vs. Marufuji (NOAH 1/22/06). Towards the end, just before the Go-to-Sleep, KENTA does his thumb across his throat in the exact same rather unique motion Benoit always used.

Here's my question: Is this motion something he would have taken from Benoit, in tribute? Or perhaps is it something used in Puro, a motion that Benoit learned there? Or is it coincidence, and I am reading too much?

A question from watching NWA on 24/7. They mention the '86 Great American Bash tour kicking off at Veterans Stadium in Philadelphia on July 1. Does anyone have a card and attendance figures from that event? That seems like a laughably oversized venue to hold a wrestling show.
